Imagine an anonymous developer introducing decentralized money to the world for the first time in 2026.

With AI rapidly evolving, mass surveillance becoming more sophisticated, and financial regulations getting stricter, the environment would be very different from what Bitcoin faced back in 2009.

Would crypto still develop as an independent movement driven by its community, or would governments and tech giants shape its future from the very beginning?

And how different do you think the crypto industry would look if everything started today?

And how different do you think the crypto industry would look if everything started today?

There wouldn’t be so much difference as to how other people perceive bitcoin, most will still look at it as a Ponzi scheme and also many will still conclude that it won’t stood the test of time. Also Government will be against it still because they will never readily accept something that will actually give people freedom and privacy. As for institutions, they will also not invest early. So there won’t me much difference in our most of this people will view it.

One distinct difference will be that there will be more adoption at the early stages than it was, because of the growth of media propagations which we know has grown now than in 2009 most especially  social media, so many people will know about it earlier. Then many will adopter it faster than in 2009 because everything that bitcoin stands for over fiat is much worse now than that time. Example is currency devaluations and high inflation, so with bitcoin as an hedge people will accept it faster

I want to believe that we are never too early or too late to have Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency; the same effect will happen if it were just discovered, as long as everything Satoshi has invented concerning Bitcoin still remains in use. There is no other development that can stand up to the achievements of the Bitcoin network and blockchain technology because it is what we truly deserve to have. AI will not be a hindrance, but instead a catalyst to boost Bitcoin's achievements beyond measure.

.. A new technological breakthrough has been achieved by an anonymous developer that used AI to Vibecode a decentralized new digital currency called “BITCOIN”.

That is what you’ll hear if bitcoin was invented this year..  Grin

If we’re talking about adoption and how bitcoin could have developed and grow into  a Trillion-dollar asset, that will be a totally different conversation and it’d probably be harder to grow than it did right now and no one can tell..

If Bitcoin was invented this year 2026? On a personal level, there will still be people regretting their actions and inaction about Bitcoin in the next few years to come, and so some who had heard of Bitcoin this year will do something about Bitcoin in about a decade from now like us who Heard of Bitcoin from the beginning but did nothing serious for so long.
On a general ground, I believe Bitcoin won't necessarily come as magic if founded this year even with that is in place technologically globally, Bitcoin will still need time and possibly go through all that it went through or something similar to gain value.

Imagine an anonymous developer introducing decentralized money to the world for the first time in 2026.
Certainly in 2009 and 2026, in a theoretical scenario, Bitcoin will become the most modern digital currency alternative, perhaps in terms of government and regulatory responses to Bitcoin, it will most likely be stricter.
Of course, it was very different in 2009, where as we know Bitcoin was considered just a toy technological experiment and nothing more, despite the fact that Bitcoin turned 100 degrees much more sophisticated than imagined.

There is a big possibility that if Bitcoin is created in 2026 in terms of the technological infrastructure that we see today, Bitcoin will immediately enter regulations in terms of technological readiness, of course Bitcoin has a strong narrative so that it can become a digital currency because Bitcoin is directly facingwith modern computing.

The more positive thing is that everyone only understands Bitcoin, there are no Altcoins or millions of other crypto assets such as Ethereum, Solana and so on, likewise with Web3 there is no DeFi, NFT and so on, the main concept of Bitcoin.

It would face many hurdles such as when we look at government surveillance systems and big tech companies who would try to influence its development or may turn it into a system that could control it. It would also face hurdles even institutions like the IMF and World Bank would raise questions about its capital flow and their impacts. Everyone would try to monitor it. But still I believe its decentralization property will make it stand out. People would definitely go for it because everyone wants financial freedom and would choose it over traditional banking but it would be difficult to maintain its independence.

Nothing would have changed from what and how bitcoin was viewed in 2009 and how it would have been viewed if it was to be launched in 2026 for the first time.
It wasn't the time bitcoin was created and  introduced to the world that brought about the challenges it was met with, because in as much as it's for the first time people's doubt and resistance would still surface and the gauge with traditional perspective wouldn't have being of any difference.

To be honest, I would have taken it for a ponzi scheme because the government would have obviously rejected it as a payment method.
Satoshi would have still been there and so there would be no mysterious character that created bitcoin.
It would be just some nerd guy who created something to lure in people and make money.

Do you think AI stared today? It has been around for years, I think the common mobile LLM made them go viral and the general adoption, but AI has been around for many years.
If think crypto made AI to go even viral and without Bitcoin, there wouldn't be crypto in general. Some of the trends of AI made some people to know about AI existence and Bitcoin make all of it possible. That means without Bitcoin, there might not be AI viral towards cryptocurrcency. Maybe programming will be the and AI will be more common..

I don't know how this industry will look, without Bitcoin i think we are going to have different timeline, this forum will not be here today, some people will not believe Bitcoin and Satoshi, I don't know how it will sound knowing that Bitcoin has changed alot of things in the world since 15 years of its existence.

Bro, I didn't mean that AI was invented today. I meant how crypto would have evolved if it had been created in a world where AI already exists.

The whole question is what if crypto hadn't been invented in 2009, but was invented today instead? Smiley

Suppose you were born in 2026. The world would have advanced significantly by then, and since you are arriving in this world at that point—wouldn't that mean you are lagging behind? In reality, regardless of when you enter the world, you—just like everyone else—must grow gradually and adapt to everything around you. The same applies to Bitcoin.

If Bitcoin had been developed in 2026 instead of 2009 then in my opinion Bitcoin would have become popular much faster now than it did in 2009.

But I think if Bitcoin had not come during this gap some other currency would have been created that people would be attracted to because of how technology has advanced over these few years, creating a currency like Bitcoin would not seem like anything unusual.

Since this is the age of AI Bitcoin would have become popular much faster and people would have invested more and more in it. However it would have taken a few more years to touch the current price or it might never have reached this price and some FUDs like quantum computers would have spread early.

One thing 2026 is missing compared to 2009 is the catastrophic economic collapse in the US in 2008 which was one of the driving forces for creation and adoption of Bitcoin. So maybe in a couple of years when 2008 2.0 is repeated... Wink we may even see a Bitcoin 2.0...

You can imagine that with the world in 2026, full with KYC in many nations, digital identity trackers from governments, regulations against privacy projects and platforms, especially after the arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in Paris, France some years ago, do you think that it's possible to have a decentralized blockchain launched in 2026?

Bitcoin firstly is a decentralized blockchain, then the blockchain currency (bitcoin) has good value. You can not have a decentralized money on a centralized blockchain like altcoins.

If Bitcoin had not been invented in 2009, the crypto world would not have started. And now the technology is quite advanced, so it would be more difficult to keep the information of the owner of Bitcoin secret. Although the person or team who created Bitcoin are smart enough and have the ability to maintain their privacy. However, if Bitcoin was created now, its price would have increased in a much shorter time, but of course it would have taken a long time for Bitcoin to hit such an expensive price. However, at the time when Bitcoin was created, this time was a perfect time for everyone to understand how much power decentralization has. And how risky it is to save money in a local bank and how the value of money is constantly decreasing due to inflation.

Even that bitcoin was created when Ai hasn't been this sophisticated, AI cannot still break bitcoin ECDSA. Assuming, it was at this time, Bitcoin will still perform well but the adoption will be a gradual process just like it started in the early days because people are always skeptical about new technologies.

Of course, government will still be government and they will attack bitcoin like they did back then but nothing changes. If bitcoin was created in 2026. We wouldn't be in this forum.

What about the tech side of things? How do you think crypto would have developed differently? Smiley
Your attention has to be drawn back to the fact that most of the technology that have developed within the cryptocurrency industry was as a result of the creation of Bitcoin. Bitcoin brought about their evolution, not just only on the tech aspect but with how regulatory policies has evolved too.

-snip-
If Bitcoin had been developed in 2026 instead of 2009 then in my opinion Bitcoin would have become popular much faster now than it did in 2009.
Skepticism and the class of conventional wealthy bastard would not have seen it differently as something that is a threat to their central economic control. The fight against Bitcoin would not have changed and it progress may not have speeding up differently.
