Well Satoshi mined the first block in 2009 which was the year after a worldwide, financial crash. We are currently in a period where there is a worldwide, government bond crisis which is driving up borrowing costs, which in turn is putting pressure on peoples cost of living so it’s not too dissimilar to 2009.

I think Bitcoin would do just fine if it had been born in 2026, rather than 2009. Let’s not forget, for the first maybe even 10 years Bitcoin wasn’t mainstream so AI investors wouldn’t be interested in it any way 2009 - 2017/18 Bitcoin buyers were not regular stock bro’s. I know because I was one of those early guys.

Quote
So maybe in a couple of years when 2008 2.0 is repeated... Wink we may even see a Bitcoin 2.0...
It would be a bit different, because Bitcoin had practically no competition, when it was invented. Its code was not written with competing chains in mind, which is why many copycats fail so hard, when they try to run exactly the same thing, but on a different chain.

Quote
And how different do you think the crypto industry would look if everything started today?
Not that much different, because even when it comes to some features from 2009, then still: they are not used that much in 2026. For example sighashes: in most cases, everything is signed with SIGHASH_ALL, even if it would be sometimes beneficial to use something else. I guess most (if not all) one-input-one-output transactions could simply use SIGHASH_SINGLE with SIGHASH_ANYONECANPAY.

Quote
What about the tech side of things?
There are many things, which can be done better. However, many altcoin developers are just copy-pasting the same code over and over again. For example the whole scripting language can be hidden behind just P2PK. The base layer could be very simple, and contain only public keys and signatures, exactly like described in the whitepaper. And then, one address type can be used to always handle everything.

Signatures can be separated from transaction IDs from the very beginning. Address reuse can be strongly discouraged on a protocol level, by checking public key uniqueness, instead of txid:vout pairs. The whole UTXO set could just be a huge list of compressed public keys and amounts, nothing less, nothing more. All signatures could contain just s-values, while r-values could be enforced by the protocol, so any double-spending would be strongly discouraged, because it would reveal the private key.

Quote
Back then, Bitcoin had something incredibly valuable: time to be ignored.
Having more time doesn't guarantee any success. Merged Mining as an idea is known since 2010, and it is still not widely used, even by altcoin developers, who want to deploy sidechains, because they are not activating Merged Mining between BTC, and their mainchain. There are many good ideas, which are still ignored, and it doesn't make them any more successful, than they could be.

Quote
A mysterious developer could release some code, disappear, and leave the community to figure out the rest.
There is a flaw in this plan: the community can develop things differently, that they should, and the whole idea can be discarded as a failure. For example: why NameCoin introduced any new coins at all? It should be directly committed to BTC signatures, so their chain would contain only domain names, and zero coins, while BTC would contain only payments, and zero domain names. And what we have today? A chain, with a fraction of BTC's value, which tries to handle both: payments and domains. There is no reason, why they should handle both.

And later, when vanity addresses appeared, it became even more clear, that NameCoin is useless, because it didn't take advantage of it. Basically, it should be possible to grind vanity names on NameCoin, and pay for them with BTCs. Then, new names would take the same space as random keys, so they would consume zero additional on-chain bytes.

It will definitely be different and we can only take a guess on how it will be if it's done for this year. I think that the usage or subscription of AI can be purchased with tokens made by these developers and each of them will have their respective developed tokens for the subscription. I guess that we'll only see another breed and era of different altcoins done by them for their platform's usage. As for bitcoin, many will doubt that if it's a good asset to hold or if it's just a payment for the usage of the AI tools. Other than that, AI can give better answers to the researchers if they should invest in it or not.

For my thoughts alone, to say that Bitcoin would have been accepted just like that would have been a lie because there's so much other things that would have happened in place and that would have been a world wide war because inflation would have crippled economies, people would have broken out to fight the government in violent protest, countries against countries would have waged war over resources control and am sure AI would not have emerged at this time because it is the success of Bitcoin that has led to so many innovation today including tokens and stocks and other noteworthy investment that we see taking the front stage and championing the cause of Bitcoin.

If Satoshi had invented Bitcoin in 2026 instead of 2009, Satoshi would have always kept one thing in mind: how to make Bitcoin stronger against AI, so he wouldn't have hidden himself. He would have made Bitcoin stronger against quantum computers and then perhaps hidden his identity and gone into hiding.
Then we wouldn't have to worry about the current threat of quantum computers in 2026.

There is no difference, even in 2009 Bitcoin technology was above its time, and if it was created now it would still be the same same thing, Bitcoin is not just an experimental tech stuff that you think with time evolves to something completely different from its inception.

The background and values of Bitcoin makes it stand out, it's functionality already laid down. The only advancement are on things relating to Bitcoin, like how you save your Bitcoin (what type of wallet) and so on but the core Bitcoin technology will still be same even if it was created today.

To be honest, I would have taken it for a ponzi scheme because the government would have obviously rejected it as a payment method.
Satoshi would have still been there and so there would be no mysterious character that created bitcoin.
It would be just some nerd guy who created something to lure in people and make money.
Not just you but some other people who are investors already. We embrace bitcoin because we have seen the value in 2009 and the current value now, those who saw no value in it are regretting now based on what it now represent so if we are seeing bitcoin for the first time this year when the economy is this bad the majority of us will reject it and see it as a ponzi scheme because so many people has scammed people with different investments.

The adoption will still be slow because it will take time for the world to staet knowing it and it's importance so we will be here discussing about bitcoin because the information may not have gotten this far and satoshi would still be around trying to set things in other before handling over the forum to who he thinks can run it better.

Bro, this is a really good scenario. I think if we keep all the facts the same, then maybe it will be the same. But bro, at that time, Bitcoin was nothing, and if someone said they were introducing a decentralized asset, then world leaders who don't like the dollar at all would pick it up in the blink of an eye because they adopted XMR and ZEC, and no one expected that.

But they would definitely accept anything that retail investors loved and invested in. They can't make it work alone, so they needed retail investors too. So at this stage, we both need each other.

2026 could be a good year for Bitcoin to be introduced for the first time thinking about the global scenario, lack of trust and credibility regards centralized institutions and governments. However, if it was being launched now, it would get popular only after few years, although I think it would get recognized faster than it took back then, due to how wide internet access has become and how instant informations are spread these days.

On the other hand, since the current sensation of our time is AI, there could be a chance Bitcoin wouldn't stand out the same way it did along its initial bull runs. The focus now is directed to AI, flying cars, renewable sources of energy, space exploration...

We can not say for certain what would have happened had Bitcoin been invented in 2026; its emergence in 2009 introduced a new dimension to the world, something unprecedented, and likely never to be repeated. Between 2009 and 2026, the global regulatory landscape has undergone significant changes. Yet, Bitcoin has managed to solidify its position; while it has shown a degree of stability, it has consistently been regarded as a profitable asset. Investing in Bitcoin certainly appears to be a lucrative option.

Nothing looks different....
Still would be the same....  Smiley
If Bitcoin was invented in 2026 rather than 2009 then probably there would be nothing seem different. Everything will be the same in teme if tech but if we talk about credibility then definitely it's will never be the same as previous like people will still feel the lack of confidence to adopt it like they will feel hesitation to grab it.

So once technology has been invented then ppl don't usually think about it's reinventing like it's already exists. Let's us supposed now you say that "What if wheel were been invented today rather then 3500 BC. So simply engine wouldn't be invented today if wheel were not been invented....

So similarly if Bitcoin hadn't been invented in 2009 then probably you wouldn't be wondering to say that "If Bitcoin was invented today rather than 2009". Because apex is already in our hand.  Cool

If Bitcoin was invented this year 2026? On a personal level, there will still be people regretting their actions and inaction about Bitcoin in the next few years to come, and so some who had heard of Bitcoin this year will do something about Bitcoin in about a decade from now like us who Heard of Bitcoin from the beginning but did nothing serious for so long.
On a general ground, I believe Bitcoin won't necessarily come as magic if founded this year even with that is in place technologically globally, Bitcoin will still need time and possibly go through all that it went through or something similar to gain value.

What happened in 2009 will repeat itself because people won't have a clue, unless we all go back in time with everything we know right now, and then people will have a clue what Bitcoin will become, the adoption in the first few weeks will be so massive that Bitcoin mining difficulty won't stay around for long before skyrocketing, this is because everyone knows that Bitcoin in few years will turn to 126k per coin, I can't blame myself for missing the first few weeks of Bitcoin's life, no one has the power to have saw what Bitcoin would become, I relive myself from such punishment.

Imagine an anonymous developer introducing decentralized money to the world for the first time in 2026.
Why even bother imagining it? Shitcoins, developed by who-knows-who, pop up almost every single day. Smiley

With AI rapidly evolving, mass surveillance becoming more sophisticated, and financial regulations getting stricter, the environment would be very different from what Bitcoin faced back in 2009.
Certainly, for these are completely different eras (in terms of both technology and human society). In other words, the conditions are different, and under these varying conditions, the "starting" opportunities differ radically.

Would crypto still develop as an independent movement driven by its community, or would governments and tech giants shape its future from the very beginning?
I won’t even attempt to speculate on this. However, I believe that up to a certain point, as long as this currency remains of no interest to governments or corporations, it could continue to develop within its own community. In fact, this is exactly how things unfolded with bitcoin, which spent many years "underground", noticed only by tech-geeks, enthusiasts, and dreamers.

And how different do you think the crypto industry would look if everything started today?
If bitcoin were to emerge only now, any kid could mine it using their smartphone; back in 2009, however, not everyone even owned a PC. Therefore, it’s possible that bitcoin would have been more decentralized, in terms of its owners \ users, than it is today.

If we look at history then its clear that every new invention was not accepted in the start rather people make fun of it or ignore it. I don't think if Bitcoin was invented in 2026 then its initial days will be same as that of 2009, people will be exchanging 10,000 Bitcoin for two pizzas. It took sometime before Bitcoin got acceptance in the society and once that stage is achieved, we saw Bitcoin price going up with every passing year. Now if we are assuming that Bitcoin is launched in 2026 then we have to give it 5 years to make an impact.

It will be easier to develop the software because today the developers have better tools to test and improve it but the problem might be getting people to trust it and run their own instead of depending on some big companies. Bitcoin definitely did not become what it is today but because of its code or anything, it also took years of people using it and building around it. To answer your question, if it had launched in 2026, the technology may develop faster but that doesn’t mean that people will trust it faster.

If bitcoin was to start today, It would probably be viewed as shitcoins because technology has grown too high that there will be much adoption at the earliest stage that the price could have grown too fast to sustain and it could have raised serious criticisms and this time, media is more powerful than it was. So any serious criticisms could have a rapid influence on the longevity.

Bitcoin was able to grow because it was given the time to grow quietly and gradually. If it was now, whales could have influenced the market, buy off the quantity to get the price higher and then withdraw their investment quietly leaving the coin to suffer.

Again, there are more coins coming up daily of which most of them have failed. If it's now, it could have been faced with same pump and dump pattern or several shitcoins too. I don't think there's any recent coins that will stand the test of time again like bitcoin.

Even that bitcoin was created when Ai hasn't been this sophisticated, AI cannot still break bitcoin ECDSA. Assuming, it was at this time, Bitcoin will still perform well but the adoption will be a gradual process just like it started in the early days because people are always skeptical about new technologies.

Of course, government will still be government and they will attack bitcoin like they did back then but nothing changes. If bitcoin was created in 2026. We wouldn't be in this forum.

History is going to repeat itself, there will be FUD everywhere, people will call Bitcoin a bubble or MMM shitcoin that mavrodi is behind It disguising himself by calling himself Nakamoto, they will call Satoshi a alias.

People will underestimate and talk so less about Bitcoin, this is why I don't even bother myself because who would have known that Bitcoin will be this awesome anyways? I can't beat myself about what happened in the past.

I am only a human and not a god, it's fine to look less of anything and got the surprise of my life later on, I am just human being who reasons anyhow I feel.

With the exposure everyone have had today with internet, I don't think people are going to be thay dumb to want to ignore Bitcoin. Do you know that some people were unable to buy Bitcoin because they couldn't have access to the internet then. Some people don't even have phones and computers to read about the internet magic money. Now, even a kid have a tablet and see what's happening around the world.

If it's today, people are going to buy but it will not blow up immediately to $80k but people are going to buy. Some of the popular IPO are rushed because everyone want to invest these days.

Because of the financial crash in 2008, the governments where more focus on making things stable so they might have lost sight of what Bitcoin would become in years to come, if it was in 2026 they'll be on it fast and try any means to make it centralized and because of the technological advantages there will be more pressure, there will be more adoption rate because of the publicity we have this days in the Internet.

Lastly, I think if there were no such thing as Bitcoin up untill 2026, it won't be created by random person, Elon musk would be the creator...
Pardon me I'm just thinking out loud.

No matter the global backdrop, people are alway gonna be skeptical of anything new, especially something with an anonymous founder and no big institution or reputable name behind it.

I do not think trend like AI would really affect Bitcoin either. When Bitcoin first came out, it only caught the attention of a small group of people interested in privacy, not big corporations or investors like today.

So I think  Bitcoin would still have to go through  much the same process  if it launched in 2026 . Internet might help info spread faster but that does not  mean people will quickly trust  or adopt a completely new technology .
