Time Chain Traveler Begins | Finite by Design Returns to Struck .999 Fine Silver | Now Shipping

Every traveler needs a compass.

For the first time in over 8 years, Finite by Design has struck .999 fine silver again.

The last Finite by Design silver coins were struck in early 2018. The Time Chain Compass brings silver back as part of a 500-piece struck release.

Before the Time Chain Traveler journey begins, there is the Time Chain Compass.

The Time Chain Compass is the first release of Time Chain Traveler, a new, ongoing Finite by Design project exploring the people, events and ideas that shaped Bitcoin's history and the time chain that followed.

At the center of the project is an instrument built from time, direction, sigils and Bitcoin. Its orientation, geometry and individual elements are intentional, drawing from across the larger Time Chain Traveler project.

Some may be recognizable from the beginning. Others will reveal their significance only as the journey unfolds.

THE RELEASE

The Time Chain Compass is a limited 500-piece struck physical Bitcoin mintage in three metals:

100 × 1 Troy Ounce .999 Fine Silver | #001-#100
200 × Golden Bronze | #001-#200
200 × Copper | #001-#200

The Compass is released in two phases. Time Chain Traveler is a long-term project, and the Compass is its central piece, so I want collectors who join as the series unfolds to have a chance to own one.

Phase One (now): Serials #001-#100 in all three metals, 300 coins.
Phase Two (later): Serials #101-#200 in Golden Bronze and Copper, 200 coins, held in the Finite Vault for a later release as Time Chain Traveler progresses.

Every coin is edge marked with its sequential serial number. Silver coins are additionally edge marked to identify their 1 Troy Ounce .999 fine silver content.

The Compass serves as the bridge between Finite by Design's traditional physical Bitcoin format and the larger Time Chain Traveler project.

Following this release, Time Chain Traveler will move into its native TCG-size engraved metal card format, introducing the new Chrono Seal.

Matching three-coin sets receive priority within the #001-#100 serial range, subject to previously confirmed reservations. Base-metal sets and individual coins are assigned from the remaining serials, starting from #100 and counting down.

Collectors may request up to three preferred serial numbers in the order notes at checkout. Requests may also be discussed here in the thread, but serial reservations are confirmed only upon purchase. Requests are honored in the order purchases are received, subject to availability.

WHAT'S NEXT: TIME CHAIN TRAVELER GENESIS SERIES

The Compass introduces Time Chain Traveler. The first chapter, Genesis Series (2008-2010), will consist of 12 individually designed collectible cards, each engraved on 2mm-thick, TCG-sized stainless steel and presented in a protective display case. Together, they'll tell a larger story surrounding Bitcoin's origins through pivotal events, symbolic archetypes, a hero, a villain, and Satoshi, the mysterious Watcher.

Each design will consist of 100 individually numbered cards, priced at $100 each, plus an Artist Proof (AP) and Zero (0) card retained by Finite by Design. Every card design will also carry a Finite Anomaly, revealed and documented on The Finite Anomaly page once its edition is sold out or closed.

The first release, Card I: Satoshi Nakamoto, is scheduled for November 22, 2026, the anniversary of Satoshi's welcome to the new Bitcoin forum, which became BitcoinTalk.

Matching Serial Priority

Owners of the numbered three-coin Compass sets (#001-#100) will receive first priority to purchase their matching serial number for each card in the Genesis Series. Priority continues for collectors maintaining a matching-number collection: the Compass set plus all previously released Genesis cards in that serial, whether assembled through original purchases or acquired from fellow collectors.

Collectors will have 48 hours from each announced card release time to claim their matching serial. Unclaimed numbers will then become available to other collectors.

BUYER FUNDED PHYSICAL BITCOIN

All Time Chain Compass coins are issued under the Finite by Design Buyer Funded Standard.

Each coin contains a private key generated and handled through Finite by Design's permanently air-gapped process, concealed beneath the tamper-evident Cold Storage Seal.

All coins ship unfunded, allowing collectors to independently fund their Bitcoin addresses after receipt.

Update: The Time Chain Compass coins have arrived, final assembly is underway, and preorders are shipping. Each private key is installed and the Cold Storage Seal applied by hand. The OP now shows photos of the finished coins.

As noted in the OP, the Compass is released in two phases, with serials #101-#200 in Golden Bronze and Copper held in the Finite Vault for a later release as Time Chain Traveler progresses.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Compass is just the beginning. Time Chain Traveler is easily the most ambitious project I've undertaken at Finite by Design. It's something I've been developing for quite some time, and I'm incredibly excited to finally begin bringing it to life.

Every card design will also carry a Finite Anomaly. Hidden somewhere within each 100-piece edition is a single numbered card containing an intentional, subtle alteration. Neither the anomaly nor its serial number will be disclosed while the edition remains active. Once the edition is sold out or closed, the anomaly will be revealed and permanently documented on The Finite Anomaly page.
