I want to ask something very common about sports betting. Let’s say you stake $4000 to win $30,000, and while the matches are still going on, they offer you $18,000 to cash out. You decide to take it because you don’t want to risk losing everything. Now imagine you cash out and later all the remaining matches win, instead of being happy that you made a good decision and secured your money, you start saying, “Ahh, if I had waited, I would have won $30,000”.

But why are you angry? You chose to cash out because you were scared of losing, right? What if you had waited and one match spoiled the whole bet? Wouldn’t you be wishing you had taken the cash out?
Honestly, I feel some people focus too much on what they could have won instead of appreciating what they actually got.

So tell me, is it greed, or is it just human nature? Why do people get upset over a bet they cashed out successfully, just because they would have won more?

Cash out is nor greed nor human nature, it is just rational thinking with leaving out the emotions and greed that define us human beings. There is nothing to regret if the ticket wins even after you cash out as you decided to do so. Now if the ticket lost and you let it run it is in this exact case greed that ruined everything for you, just as it ruined for me trying to win 500 dollars in a game because I won 200, I deposited another 50 from the winnings and 150 I keep in my pocket, I am not greedy and the casino will not take my money again. If I deposited all it would be stupid and greedy of me. The same for sport betting, we would be stupid and greedy if we don't cash out when we have the possibility to do so for 60-70% of original payout.

I am thinking converting your local currency to dollar, euro or pounds which most of us are familiar with will be better.

This topic has been discussed before several times.

It is still about cash out and not cash out.

I do not cash out no matter what.

But it can be very wise in some situations like the one you explained, but I will not cash out.

What you might dismiss simply as greed or human nature is, in reality far more complex. In my view, this sense of regret doesn't stem solely from greed. It’s a matter of human psychology! To begin with, when you place stake of 4000 with target return of 30000, bookmakers plant a seed of fear in your mind by offering you, say, $18000 to cash out early. They are well aware of powerful role that loss aversion plays in human mind.

When you choose to cash out out of fear, you are actually falling victim of psychological trap. Later, when  the matches turn out to be winning one, reason you feel bad isn't necessarily because you are greedy. After all, you had made conscious decision to reset or secure your profit.

Honestly, I feel some people focus too much on what they could have won instead of appreciating what they actually got.

So tell me, is it greed, or is it just human nature? Why do people get upset over a bet they cashed out successfully, just because they would have won more?

If you would be sad or regret it when the result of a game comes out and it is a success when you cashed out before it ended, then don't cash out, just let it run. Before placing a bet, you were already okay with losing that money, so if you cash out, then it means that you are okay with what you have now and wouldn't care what happens after that.

For those who usually regret it, I would definitely tag them as being greedy, but the act of cashing out a bet earlier isn't a greedy move. It is not something that I stint on, once I notice that my analysis is off and I am allowed to cash out, I do it immediately, and if at the end the game ends up being a success that's okay, it is no longer my business it wouldn't stop me from cashing out again next time.

This discussion is not new, but it is always good that we have the discussion from time to time to act as a reminder when we gamble.

I do cash out when it's necessary, but in this situation, I won't be unhappy that I cashed out because a win is a win. Provided that the amount is up to half of the potential win.

To clear the air, cashing out isn't greed it is a decision.

It's in the human nature to wish we did some things differently, especially if the danger we're avoiding ends up not happening. Cashing out isn't greed, I call it playing safe, especially when your instinct is directing you to use that option. If the game later greens, then the whole money isn't for you, that's the approach I use in such a situation.

Now I I'll tell you from experience, it will be more hurtful that you neglected your instincts directing you to cash out and the game lost than obeying and cashing out and the game later comes out well. I always feel a lot better following my instincts, although deep down, I wish I got the full money.

I think that it's the human nature that brings about greed in us, gambling is one place you see this greedy part of human play out very well. If not I don't see the need where someone will be thinking and regretting for cashing out#18,000 out of a possible #24,000 with just a stake of #4,000. This is the highest level of greed, imagine that you start a business with a capital of #4,000 and you made #18,00 at end of the day, if you remove your initial capital you have made #14,000 gain.

Which to me is a very good business, alot of persons has lost money this way refusing to cash out huge sums of money that, where given to them by the Casino. We should know that when it comes to gambling there is no guarantee of wining,so if we are given a good amount of money we are to accept that with a good faith, no matter the final outcome of the game later.

Cash out is a two way cure for panic in gambling. It was deviced to minimise losses for the players and boost the gains of the betting apps. Gambling remains something you can not be too sure of the outcome so it's better to learn not to cry over a split milk. What do I mean? If you allow your bet to play and the last game cut it, there's no point regretting that you could have used the cash out earlier because if the game had entered, your win will be massive. Same way if you cash out your game and the final game goes ahead to play, you shouldn't regret too much because it the last game had cut the game, you will end up loosing all.

Gambling is a game of luck and I prefer that if your mind can't allow you to wait till the end, as long as you have gone far above your capital, cash out won't be a bad option because you will be sure of mitigating your losses but may never get to make it big in gambling because winning big money is only for the strong hearted.

This is just the same to as staking a bet $1, if the bet successfully play you will regret why you didn't stake the bet with $10 or $20. I wouldn't say it's greed, but since human wants are highly insatiable human beings won't be satisfied with what they receive they will always wish for more.

Cashing out a bet half way is quite good for some persons, but for me I see it as a way of losing money in gambling because I have cashed out bets on several occasions which I thought wouldn't play but it ended up playing, and the funny thing about the cash outs is that the money I cashed out can't buy anything. I have taken a decision never to cash out my bet half way. If I play a bet I patiently wait for it to play to the last match, if the bet successful play the way I predicted I move on and if it didn't play I will also move on.

I want to ask something very common about sports betting. Let’s say you stake N4000 to win N30,000, and while the matches are still going on, they offer you N18,000 to cash out. You decide to take it because you don’t want to risk losing everything. Now imagine you cash out and later all the remaining matches win, instead of being happy that you made a good decision and secured your money, you start saying, “Ahh, if I had waited, I would have won N30,000”.

I will not call it greed, instead human nature. I have been in this situation twice, I played 10 games in a bet and Barcelona was the only match remaining for me to win the bet. I ended up cashing out because Barcelona was drawing and I played them to win, and I couldn't afford to lose the bet. Around 87 minutes or so Barcelona scored another goal and the match  ended with 2:0 score line. Frankly speaking, I was very angry, because the money I cashed out was very small and the payout was huge.

It's the two things at play here, greed and human nature. That is what is at play as you have said. The cash out feature is very good. But if you are to use it, only do that at critical occasions. Or less will will regret a lot of times. I bet you.

You can't use it all the time if the situation doesn't allow it. This should be based properly on probability. If the game has a 70% chance of winning, then cash out feature is very good. But the game has a higher probability of winning then you should not use the cash out feature. Your strategy should accommodate this so you can understand it's use very well.

I thought they we have discussed this stuff before, it's not greed, it think majorly its due to human nature and largely because of greed, betting itself its a  greed profession, the whole essence of getting 10x from no hassle shows that greed itself gambling and not taking a cash out when it gets to that point largely points to that facts too and it still can't be disputed that it's all part of the human nature.

There isn’t much to imagine here except for the stake and winnings. Many and that includes me, wouldn’t want to go that huge with my stakes on a bet, I don’t care who’s playing.

When you gamble, you either have one of your leg on the side or you go all out. Should you choose to cashout on a running bet, it’s absolutely okay. It’s something I’m learning to do actually, cashout on bets once I feel the slightest discomfort.

If it later plays out, it doesn’t matter. At least it ended in profit for me although, not all cash outs do end in profit. When the case is a loss, that’s when the regrets hits me.

It is greed, and people who don’t appreciate small wins are the type of people who try to chase the win they have in mind. The essence of why there is a cashout feature is for gamblers to cash out if they think they won't be lucky to win until the end of the game.

If one is lucky enough to cash out some amount, and if not, the amount they expect to win, there is nothing to feel bad about. It is better to win a little than to wait until the end of the game and lose everything, but many gamblers don’t understand.

yes, this topic has been discussed many times. looking at the statistics, i can clearly say that cashing out a bet puts you at a loss. casinos don’t offer you the bet’s true value, and you end up selling your bet for less than it’s worth. in fact, for this reason alone, we can say that cashing out doesn’t make sense.

also, when you make cashing out a habit, you end up missing out on bets that would have paid off big. of course, you can cancel some bets early that aren’t going to win and make a small profit, but i think in the long run, the casino comes out ahead. besides, if you’re going to cash out anyway, it’s pointless to place that bet in the first place.

It's called being a pussy and not having faith in yourself. I rarely consider cashing out a bet I made, I am in it til the end. Some people get scared to death and smack that cashout button and take the profit, but there's no way it's a smart play unless an injury or something happened before a game is about to start.

Every gambler will feel bad if they cashed out a bet halfway and it ended up playing all as you predicted them, especially when it involves a huge amount just like in the examples you gave. But in real sense, you staked a bet using $4,000 and cashed out $18,000, that's a profit of more than 3 your stake amount, why won't you be happy and accept it even if all played through in the end. Majority of gamblers are just greedy and it's that greed that has kept a lot of them stagnant and unable to make profits from gambling. The funny thing is that some gamblers who cashed out a birth halfway still end up using that amount to stake another bet that will equal the amount they lost in the cash out, that's the extent to which greed has occupied the mindset of many gamblers.

Come on, dude, It’s not greed. From my perspective, I think it’s either they must have gambled with an amount of money they couldn’t afford to lose, or it’s human nature. I have been in this situation since I started gambling, that’s why I said it’s not greed. I have ones gamble with an amount of money I couldn’t comfortably afford to lose, so when the remaining games were playing the opposite I had to cash out immediately, and after the whole game ended I checked scores all my game played and I became angry over something I did wrong.

It is normal to feel this way and I can say that every Bettor that has a little experience has gone through this. One thing people fail to understand is that anything can happen in sports games and for the fact that you decided to take a cashout means that you also won because what if something went wrong? there's a chance that this can happen as well. Cashing out should not be something that you regret doing if you made profit from it, it is only considered to be a bad decision when you are running at loss and then after cashing out the game turns out to be successful, that's a different case but in this situation regretting means you are greedy.
