This is not easy to achieve if all well known sportbooks are to follow this, unless NBA go through regulations. But this is not possible with how wide crypto regulations are.

Also there are sportbooks that are not operating legally which can be used for it.

I wouldn't say it's a good move, but probably this is to prevent players from betting on themselves as several NBA players have been caught with this in the last couple of years.

However, it looks like it is going to be implemented by two of the biggest fiat based casinos and not crypto base. So I don't think they can legally mandated every crypto casino with it. Although there could be some legal grounds specially if crypto base casinos are getting their odds from Las Vegas odds maker. And maybe they can go for those odd makers that who ever avail of their service should removed this betting markets.

Yea, same thing I think too, that it is just the casino that is their partner that will remove those bet options, so I don't think most of the crypto casino here on the forum will be affected, except that there is a way they can force all casinos/sports books to do same. If the local sports books in my country is not really part of their partner that they are working with to remove those options, it means that they will have it, including local casino of some country too.

It's only for their partners as stated in the OP, mostly sportsbooks operating in the US or holding US gambling licenses, sportsbooks like Caesars and BetMGM are also included.

Offshore sportsbooks can still offer such betting lines but eventually they might limit the betting amounts since they know from the NBA's investigation that these markets are prone to manipulation. It's not just the sportsbooks but people will lose trust in these betting markets as well, eventually these markets could disappear altogether.

I think you're on the right track. Let's think about the number of betting modalities in recent times, you can bet on practically anything you could think of, and it is precisely this proliferation that has led to the addition of some new modalities that are easier to manipulate than the rest.

Actually given various fixing and betting scandal that have come to light recently, it is undeniable that such micro markets or prop bet had become an easy target for gambler and dishonest player.

It will, but since a huge portion of the betting volume comes from the US market, this is a big deal already, they cannot completely eliminate manipulation but at least they can significantly reduce it.

I'm curious, how so? I mean, you said it yourself, the restriction will be implemented by their "sportsbook partners", so any online casino that isn't partnered with them could still offer odds on the betting markets they want to restrict on their sportsbook partners.

I also had similar thoughts. It could only be their partners that would be affected by their new policy in removing such bet option. If they want to impose such betting option removal, then possibly they might go through the licensing authority to impose such rules on the casinos under their records to fully implement their new policy of removing such listed betting options by the issuing authority's. This is only or possibly the way they can likely achieve such move otherwise nothing can be done about it.

This has probably been going on for a long time and that must have made them come up with this decision but I don't think that implementing this is going to solve the issue of manipulation completely, maybe it can only be reduced a bit.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think this parlays bet really give players an edge or a high chance of winning because in order for the bet to be successful all the combined predictions must be a win, I don't think that this makes betting any easier, the only advantage is that bettors have a bigger value when they end up winning.

There's a reason why they are doing this, they probably feel like there has been too much manipulation going on with bettors or probably bookmakers and if they feel like it's the best approach then that's up to them but in my opinion people would always find a way to exploit the betting system .

The restrictions is not bad. At least, it aims that gamblers and how some games can be manipulated. But we have some gamblers that see otherwise. They have grown too addicted to that particular market. Now the sports book removes the market from casinos. Now does the removal applies to all casinos or only a few.

This is very important because I was making a scenario about an addict. If that is not implemented in all casino's, we have a problem. The gambler can just move over to another casinos that offers that restricted market. How effective will be this restriction?

It's not about removing, it's about enforcing. It's not like every casino's uses the same license. They don't.

It's quite an American phenomenon to limit markets seemingly at random but I wonder if this has an impact overseas as well, because in theory the NBA could block any official gambling company who wants to have instant results for these plays. It's strange that they want to restrict something as basic as "first basket" when there is a whole opposing team in the way and you'd expect the odds to already be weighted towards the superstar shooter on the team already. It should really be a self correcting problem where the bookmakers would stop offering these bets anyway if they saw suspicious patterns and they could report them to the NBA for further investigation. It feels a bit like unnecessary overreach when setting gambling offerings shouldn't really be in the sphere of responsibility of the NBA. Just provide the feeds and the raw information then leave bookmakers to do what they do best, which is analyzing the results and putting the expected prices to customers.

AFAIK, Fanduel is huge sponsor of the NBA and I've seen them on the ads as they are partnered with them for several years.

I don't understand how NBA is the body removing them instead of the bookmakers, don't you think you are making a mistake in this? NBA does not generate the odds rather they regulate basketball and may not even know what the bookmakers assign to the  betting markets.

If these options are being removed by the bookies, I can say its a step being taken to curb match rigging. These are some of the markets easily rigged in NBA, which is why they are acting on them.
