Yea, same thing I think too, that it is just the casino that is their partner that will remove those bet options, so I don't think most of the crypto casino here on the forum will be affected, except that there is a way they can force all casinos/sports books to do same. If the local sports books in my country is not really part of their partner that they are working with to remove those options, it means that they will have it, including local casino of some country too.

The casinos, as long as they are legally operating, even if they are crypto casinos, will have to obey the law, or the NBA will take legal action against them, unless those unlicensed bookmarks and sportbooks, which ordinarily are operating illegally everywhere, can freely do that without the fear of any legal repercussions.

I am not sure whether this is good step but it also has its limitations. Parlaying multiple under bet covering point, rebound and assist for same player creates opportunity for large payout by leveraging such manipulation. So, I can understand rationale behind NBA limiting this type of market.

However, not every instance involving low minute player or first event bet necessarily amount to manipulation. Who will win opening tip or who will score first basket these are also valid sporting outcome. NBA is essentially excluding market where outcome is controlled by small number of individual and where suspicious activity is difficult to detect.

I saw the news last week. I played a lot of player props last season and I stopped after a while because it felt like some of the lines were rigged in favour of whoever was benefiting from the bet going back. It's good to see that they're taking active steps to curb the issue.

Anyway, this doesn't affect me in any way since I usually bet totals and those are not affected.

I was literally just talking about how traditional gambling deals with big players are going to start fighting for more regulation to combat the rise in prediction markets eating the lunch that has been prepared. It looks like I barely got that prediction in before it became true… Next will be the rise of new sporting events built for the gambling market.

Good, at least they could have removed those bettors that just benefiting on this kind of multi-bet specially those who have insider information of the game. Or even the players themselves who might have secretly rigging games for quiet sometime now and wasn't it as doing it.

But for crypto base casinos, not sure if they are going to be under this mandate. Although they might want to follow on this so that they won't be at the regulators cross-hair. So it's really up to them whether to follow it or not.

It's a smart move by the NBA because of the recent cases of point shaving scandals and the likes that has rocked their boat mostly as predictions market seems to be in deep in their affairs. This is more to protect the integrity of the game if I believe so and it's more to build and maintain the trust the customers have for them. This is merely just a small price to pay to prevent corruption that has eaten deep into the game and perhaps we may see a shift in betting volume but those who value authenticity would remain.

Well, if most of the manipulation that happened involved stats padding or intentionally missing shots on US soil, then I think this is very good of them. Those two sports betting companies are very well known, and I think they are the most used when it comes to American sports betting.
Still, I think other big companies should follow the NBA's decision. It's not like it's a lot of options were removed. There are still more left where we could place our bets.

I don't understand how NBA is the body removing them instead of the bookmakers, don't you think you are making a mistake in this? NBA does not generate the odds rather they regulate basketball and may not even know what the bookmakers assign to the  betting markets.

If these options are being removed by the bookies, I can say its a step being taken to curb match rigging. These are some of the markets easily rigged in NBA, which is why they are acting on them.

The NBA can certainly make a call. It's their association, their games, teams, players, stats, and other data that are being used by the bookmakers. They definitely have a big say. But, of course, this is in agreement with bookmakers, and most probably with official contract. After all, the bookmakers are paying the NBA for their data.

I'd say this is good for both parties. On the part of the NBA, to make sure each game is fairly played, and for players to be prevented from manipulating their stats. On the part of the bookmakers, the betting public would lose interest if manipulation becomes prevalent in the NBA market.

This is not easy to achieve if all well known sportbooks are to follow this, unless NBA go through regulations. But this is not possible with how wide crypto regulations are.

Only the sportbooks that NBA are targeting are thee ones they partnered with. I do not think mist of the gambling sites on this forum will be affected.

Correct. Off shore bookie is not affected by these changes since they don’t have any legal binding agreement with the NBA for its data rights.

Most sportsbook that we use here in the forum will not change and will remain to offer those markets since all of them use the typical offshore license.

Only bettor of Fanduel, Draftking and other NBA partner bookie will be affected on this changes.

I wouldn't be surprised if the list of those who manipulated their stats to profit from betting were much longer. After all, even though many NBA players earn millions of dollars, for some of them, for one reason or another, the temptation to cheat to make some easy money is just too great.
In any case, it's commendable that the NBA wants to combat this, but I doubt they'll be able to monitor every single sportsbook to ensure compliance with the new rules.

It’s still pretty ineffective if you ask me, the NBA and sportsbooks are playing whack a mole. When you restrict a specific market on legal regulated books, that volume just moves over to offshore crypto casinos or prediction markets, you can't ban every single action a player controls. Bad passes, deliberate early fouls or defensive lapses in specific quarters are almost impossible to prove as spot fixing. As long as operators keep offering hundreds of player props per game to squeeze extra margin, there will always be a loophole for someone with non public info to hit.

This is a very positive development because it shows re NBA cares about the game more than just making some extra pennies on bets that are easy to fix with simple collision of a single party like the coach or maybe a player at most.

Bravo for the NBA and I hope FIBA follows too. I'd like to see more such exclusions from begging and also on other sports too.

They are only deceiving themselves when it is possible to use many other gambling sites that are not in partners with the NBA. I do not think the manipulations in NBA can be tackled, but it can be reduced and some can be known while the person or player that is found guilty will be punished or banned.

I call it action on the problem, because those who are involved in game fixing particularly in the NBA are placing their bets in the US where bookies accept huge bets, offshore bookies are not something like that as it would be huge for them to accept a $100k bet on a certain game, so at least this would help solve the problem of game fixing as that's not easy to eliminate and removing that betting line is just necessary.

I like that you also talk about offshore betting. Because they are not doing that now, that does not mean they will not do that later if they noticed that all the means to do it where they are doing it now have been blocked.
