In fact, we already see this to some extent at various betting sites; not every casino offers the same specific events, as these vary from one operator to another. I believe this regulatory step is good for protecting the integrity of the game and contributes to protecting the reputation of the league because the spread of match fixing scandals undermines the credibility of the NBA as a global sports organization.

It is interesting that these rules all seem to be targeting players tanking for sure gambling wins. If they score too many points I guess that is fine because they had to earn them. I think this is a good development that I hadn’t anticipated. It should they’re creatively solving problems. Now they just need to replace the referees.  

I think odds on single players, whether for tanking or for being productive, are susceptible to manipulation. And it destroys games. If I'm betting on myself making a certain number of threes, I'd be attempting threes over and over again until I reach my goal. The same goes for rebounds, assists, and others.

Yeah, under odds are kind of worse because they also put teams on a disadvantageous position, and they're also somehow easier to manipulate, but both over and under are equally damaging to the game.

You call that deceiving? I call it action on the problem, because those who are involved in game fixing particularly in the NBA are placing their bets in the US where bookies accept huge bets, offshore bookies are not something like that as it would be huge for them to accept a $100k bet on a certain game, so at least this would help solve the problem of game fixing as that's not easy to eliminate and removing that betting line is just necessary.

Since the NBA is the source of data, they would not supply those oddsmakers, making it difficult for them to produce a line like that.

I like that you also talk about offshore betting. Because they are not doing that now, that does not mean they will not do that later if they noticed that all the means to do it where they are doing it now have been blocked.

NBA can only control those who are partner with them. to make other sportsbook affected and comply with what the NBA like, it should be the regulators that will have to work for that, which ..... i think  not gonna happen.

This isn't to eliminate the market for everyone, they know it's not realistic but the biggest market is in the US, they are already getting rid of these betting lines as being a partner with the NBA is a big thing, it helps them attract a lot of bettors. So let's not say that it's not effective just because offshore bookies will still offer it. that's true, the NBA cannot stop it so let's just bet on those lines if we like them and they're still available.. I wonder when they will eliminate that odd/even final score betting line which is obviously taking money from unsuspecting bettors.

I am not also sure about this, but from what I found out about it online, there are many sportbooks that are not NBA partners. I had went further to also make finding about just the sportbooks in the United States and they are also many that did not partner with NBA.

This is going to reduce the options that bettors would have but at the same time it is going to reduce the level of manipulation that goes on, this is not going to eliminate it completely but it is going to be an effective way to stop cheating. But bettors might still find a way to exploit other options. If the casinos already have a means of identifying players that cheat or manipulate the system I don't really think that doing this is going to be necessary.

Removing some betting markets might not be the best solution, it's better for the casinos to use Ai to detect any of there is any player trying to manipulate the betting system.

Anything a league organizer can do to minimize match fixing is a welcomed development so I know that the NBA is doing the right thing and they should be given maximum support for their efforts because for them to reach this decision it means that a lot of shady deals have been going on. Although I doubt that it can totally eliminate match fixing manipulations to win bets by corrupt players and their collaborators but atleast we know that NBA as a body is doing something to address it. I feel the concern of observers that believes NBA can only impose these restrictions only on their affiliated sportsbooks, I don't think that others that are not partnering with them can be pressured to follow their directives.

Well I guess different odds makers/provider will handle this differently. I wouldn't be surprised if we would still see those market6s popping up here and there. For obvious reasons it's a good thing since it prevents certain (game fixing) incidents to happen again, on the other hand there are so few cases that went public where this happened. I mean even the worst paid player in the NBA is still rich, no way around that. Unless they have a serious problem owing the wrong people money or something like that nobody really is stupid enough to risk their career for some $, just doesn't make any sense.

These casinos are huge enough that they made almost $6 billion in revenue apiece.
So being partners with the NBA, that really makes them more profitable, if they don't follow (that means losing the partnership) others will take their place.
And also these markets are not their biggest money-makers, so removing them will not have much impact on their profits.
