I feel like the statement is made arbitrarily if you can not provide evidence for that. You maybe have evidence but did not share or don't have evidence, just said what you thought.

I tried to do small research for double check information given in your post, and I found two charts that are not helpful for me to debunk your statement which eventually is right.

I believe more factors have to be in place for real-world adoption than just having merchants accept it. There also has to be some good use to be made of it rather than it being stored, particularly if its value is subject to rapid fluctuations. While lightning can facilitate the making of smaller payments more rapidly, merchants will still require payment facilitators that are easy to use, dependable, and provide for the management of exchange rate risk. Maybe the smarter plan is not to use Bitcoin in all instances of fiat, but rather use it where it makes a good deal of sense and can benefit a specific person or situation, like cross-border payments. You’re right that with Bitcoin, there are no phone calls and no video calls, but what I mean is that this is just an analogy to show that adoption is real—that all the actions people take regarding Bitcoin are, in fact, real actions. What I actually mean is that people work to earn money, and then they use that money to buy Bitcoin. If lightning will have the bigger transactions, I think those who complain about the speed will definitely get what they want. And so, all of the use that bitcoin has got will continue to be widespread. But, people also need to respect the others who decided not to spend it. When we keep pushing them as if they need to contribute to the ecosystem by spending it, they have already contributed a lot by simply owning and holding it. We all make the supply lesser in circulation and that's a good thing as it makes it scarcer and the value to appreciate.

IMO, no matter what people use Bitcoin for, as long as it is known and used around the world. That's adoption. And Bitcoin has already become pretty popular.

Then, when Bitcoin payments don't take off the way they expected, they turn around and look for someone to blame, usually the government. LOL.

Bitcoin is already in transition because from P2P use now, many other features are admired. People check about this, and it has been from small investors to big institutes. All are investing through their own convenience; even now many countries are doing legislation for having this as their reserve. It's a big success.
A few countries are still having nothing about this because they are not feeling comfortable due to its decentering, which is surely not good for them, but now thing are going beyond people's imagination because a few years back no one was having any thought like this. It's going to be used as reserves of countries with big institutes that are also having big investments, which are giving a good chance of increasing price and having a good future without any concern.

The payment system is working at a good level because now many big names are entering, but sadly few things have still never been favorable because its nature is volatile; it's never helping many merchants to have this as their payment system, but its features trading and saving are helping enough. Big adoption is working for stability and also increasing people's confidence because with this it's having enough chance of giving good support in many other conditions that are needed by people due to high inflation. Fiat money is never as helpful as Bitcoin; it's a good advantage with this.

Accumulating and keeping this in the long run is currently one of the best features, which is giving enough encouragement because people are now doing their saving through Bitcoin with having control and security; hopefully it's going to be a good future.

No one is fool enough to hoard bitcoin in the past and just spend it easily now like how they spend fiat. The thing is, regardless of how Satoshi sees bitcoin, I don't think that still matter at the present. We all stick to where we can make maximum advantage, that's why we have this individual ownership with bitcoin so that we can do whatever we want to do with bitcoin, even if it means not spending it but just totally focus on holding bitcoin.
