It got me thinking, now that AI is everywhere, is it possible for AI to replace human referees

So my questions is, if AI could reduce incorrect calls and make decision more consistent, wouldn't that make sports betting and the sports itself fairer? What you guys think?

First of all I dont like the idea of replacing human referees with AI. Either AI should be an additional referee, or more a referee helper. Or players should also be AI then with AI referee. AI would evaluate games from script and patters point of view. I find it wrong. Example of wrong script work - driver was giving road space for ambulance (otherwise he would block the road) and moved to public transport line; got fined for driving on that lane. AI would work the same. Something goes beyond script - foul, penalty, card.

Humans are not without error. The same is the code built by humans. If there is any replacement, it should be the sports community settling with human referees. Anything other than that, it should be a system which will have supervision to correct and detect errors. Maybe a team of experienced referees can always mount watch, but that will additional job and the purpose of the AI might not be achieved instead it will create more work load.

I think we're still a long way from implementing this "AI referee" technology. What I'm saying is that it would require removing referees. No, these aren't even close events because, despite the rapid growth of AI technology, humans are still perfectly capable of judging. And even if one referee makes a mistake, their opinion isn't final. It can be challenged, and there are always multiple referees. Now, cameras record matches from all angles, and we can clearly see even the most minute aspects of player behavior on the field. And thanks to this, there are almost no controversial moments left.
