Challenge RulesThe challenge has up to five winners each week: First Place, Second Place, Third Place, and two Consolation Prize winners.
Winners are selected on Mondays. Participants may win multiple times throughout the challenge, but cannot win First Place in two consecutive weeks.
1. How do I enter the challenge?- The challenge is open to all English-speaking bitcointalk members, from Newbie to Legendary.
- You must not wear a signature belonging to any paid signature campaign.
- Wearing the optional bitcoindata signature (provided in the following post) is encouraged but not required.
- You may wear other free signatures if you choose not to wear the optional bitcoindata signature.
- You cannot apply to paid signature campaigns while actively participating in this challenge. You will be disqualified.
- Alt accounts: You may not enter the same round with more than one account.
2. When do rounds start and end? Each round lasts
7 days. Posts are counted from
00:00 UTC on Monday through 23:59 UTC on Sunday.
This will be a test round at first. If it works well, I will make another rounds.
3. What is the application deadline? You must submit your application by
Monday at 23:59 UTC to participate in that week's round.
4. How do I win?The goal is simple: write the most substantial and valuable posts during the week.
- You must make at least 7 qualifying posts per week. This minimum helps ensure regular activity, but you do not need to post every day.
- There is no maximum post count. Although you will lose points of even be disqualified if you are shitposting or spamming.
- There is no minimum character count.
- Posts may be made on any English-language board, provided they contribute meaningfully to the discussion.
All boards are eligible. Off-topic? Gambling? Micro Earnings? Ivory Tower? Altcoin Discussion? Wall Observer? Go ahead!
What matters is the
quality of your contributions, not which board you post on. Knowledgeable, thoughtful, well-supported posts that move a discussion forward will earn points.
5. How are posts scored? You weekly activity will be evaluated using four criteria. All of them will be decided by me.
- 1 — Board distribution (2.5 points): Posts are distributed across multiple boards rather than concentrated in a single board.
- 2 — Contribution to the discussion (2.5 points): Posts are substantial, relevant, and non-repetitive. They add value to the thread instead of merely repeating what others have said.
- 3 — Research and documentation (2.5 points): Posts are well-researched and well-documented, with appropriate references and sources where applicable.
- 4 — Formatting and readability (2.5 points): Posts are easy to read, use BBCode effectively, and avoid text walls, excessive formatting, and other readability annoyances.
I will review each participant's post history for the week and evaluate their contributions using these criteria. The goal is to reward genuine effort, useful information, and quality discussion.
6. What about AI-generated content? Copy-pasting AI-generated posts is not allowed. This challenge rewards your own knowledge, thinking, research, and contributions to the community.
You may use AI as a tool to research a topic, understand complex concepts, check grammar, generate code, improve readability, or organize your thoughts. However, your posts must reflect your own understanding and contribution.
n profits... and even profits might not always be the only motive since there are control motivations or even security motivations for those who want to make sure that their holdings are sufficiently protected.
Of course, when Phil is referring to price "need to be at least" x, then we can consider those kinds of measures in terms of the 200-WMA, since the 200-WMA serves as a kind of floor, albiet a soft floor. So yeah, of course, if the BTC price were to stay 20% or more below the 200-WMA (let's say for 2 years or more), then there might end being a sufficient gravitation of the 200-WMA that it ends up starting to trend downward or even flat rather than its historically always being UP.. even when we had BTC spot prices spending a considerable amount of distance below the 200-WMA for 16-ish months between June 2022 and October 2023, the 200-WMA did not ever fail to go up at least 18.5% on any annualized basis... even during its lowest points in that time - especially if we are looking at the 6-month snapshot renditions on the fuck you status table, and specifically the historical numbers show 8.92%, 9.01% and 10.24% for the lowest 6-month increases in the 200-WMA for that period and specifically 12/1/22, 6/1/23 and 12/1/23 respectively.
Of course, it seems that the way that you currently have the fuck you status and/or chart, it is going to self-adjust in regards to whatever ended up happening in the most recent 6-months, so even though it is not too likely that I will want to change the percentages, the percentages of increase are locked in, which surely could end up greatly affecting our upward substantive outcomes by quite great amounts if we might be consistently off in one direction or another.. so maybe there is also a bit of a presumption that the "offs" end up working themselves out, since maybe sometimes we are more off towards the bottom and other times more towards the top, and yeah, if some of the presumptions do not play themselves out, then perhaps there might be needs to globally adjust some of the future projections, even though without changing anything the future projections self-adjust every six months based on the update to what actually happened rather than what was projected to happen, right?
Of course, if my projection numbers (percentage change for that 6 month period) for any of the 6 month periods end up being close to right, then the 6 month automatic adjustment will not make much difference to the future trajectory of prices.
By the way, when I leave the default 3% inflation rate, then I see that Phil's numbers line up with my projected spot prices in the beginning (and yeah, I am not as attached to my own price predictions as compared with my 200-WMA projections), yet with more passage of time, his assertion of "minimum BTC prices" starts to deviate quite a bit, and maybe the numbers work with a higher inflation rate.., .I hate to screw around with too many of the variables.
