I have seen some sellers on eBay selling used hardware wallet before. I will like to know if the hardware wallet is displayed as new or used?

But, generally, buying a used hardware wallet is very risk.

If it is new, I will still prefer to buy the hardware wallet directly from the company. It will also be worth knowing if the seller is an official reseller or not.

Agreed. I would never look at eBay or similar marketplaces when shopping for hardware wallet. Tangem more than often offers discounts of 10-20% on its products. I paid around $69 for my three cards ^{though I don’t remember the exact amount, since that was three years ago} and I’m quite happy with the deal.

By the way, guys:  I've already made the point about buying a HW wallet on a site like ebay and since I expected it'd be the section regulars making replies, this thread is just for the lolz.  IMO the HW wallet section could use a little bit of humor here and there, but if you don't find stuff like this funny you can throw tomatoes at me while I stand on my head and spit nickels.

Well, atleast you helped hiding that in your post, could also be somewhat wrong (the details) or that's someone else's details. It was likely just used as a way to show that they are real. And hey, you know my real name and home address , that's enough reason to trust me on this sale .

I will be damned if those were real, looks like the envelope was deliberately placed near the hardware box and I am sure he/she saw it while taking the pic.

eBay should have some better guidelines about crypto. If they can't grasp how cryptography works, and that HW wallets should not be sold by any third party, then maybe don't allow crypto at all like they used to.

The harm that can be cause by this is far greater than the profits they could get.

It's high time all these online marketplaces stopped selling hardware wallets and other crypto-related hardware. They should encourage people to buy directly from the companies themselves instead.

On the other hand, it doesn't make any sense to buy used hardware wallets, let alone buy them from unauthorised resellers(which is already a bad idea) unless you know the reseller personally. Still, buying used still requires you to trust the seller not to fvck you over.

They should discourage people from actually using their platform? This is like requesting centralized exchanges to advised people from actually using their exchanges to store their coins because it’s not save and you know the answer already they can never do that same with EBay because what they are after is getting you to patronize their service instead of watching out for your safety.

Didn’t we see supply chain attack with ledger after people actually bought from even an authorized reseller of recent. The stern warning is no matter how you know the person just but a brand new wallet directly from the company itself

There are people i know who buy with the sole purpose of just collecting hardware wallets, even without using it, literally just like collectibles. Regardless the condition, either sealed, used but not abused, etc. So buying from those resellers and some firsthand users are not bad at all for this kind of purpose. Actually, you can see some selling on Goods / Collectibles boards.

But using those already used is not recommended by any means, those guys know much more than i do about how risky it is to do so.
