To Summarize the content of the article, it's about the growing dispute in Australia on who must be held accountable for gambling advertising that is reaching children, and there's an alleged that the betting companies are encourage vulnerable customers to become more compulsive. Some critics are saying that the reform that which was proposed is very weak to defeat the problem and seek that gambr ads be banned. What gave me a concern in all that was said is that kids listening to music on Spotify is being interrupted by gambling ads but the gambling representative is defending every accusations and shift blames to parents and the platforms that runs the ads, like the Spotify. Note that the Spotify has an advertising opt out option that users can decide to opt out of the kind of ads they don't want to see, such as gambling ads and that satisfies my concern. My input/question: we have celebrities, creators of funny content and other niche, in different countries and these creators could also at some point do ads for offshore casinos, and the young ones who are always on their phone doom scrolling without parental guidance, they will see those ads because they are not restricted from watching videos of creators from other countries, so if the government of their own country have ban certain gambling ads in their country, did they also ban the creators from other countries from making promotional videos of offshore casinos? If government from countries A bans gambling ads by creators, can't the kids still see ads from creators in country x,y,z assuming their parents don't opt out of countries they don't want theie kids to see content from? I see reasons to blame some parents for their negligence, because why would you put the whole blame on casinos and sportbooks and also the government meanwhile they are helping but some parents are not. Gambling executives are denying any wrongdoing for children being exposed to betting advertising, shifting responsibility to parents and other platforms.
Senator David Pocock says Australians are sick and tired of the lies perpetuated by the gambling industry.
Multiple examples of children reciting advertisements and slogans of betting agencies after exposure to adverts during sporting events have been detailed at a Senate inquiry into Labor’s proposed gambling reforms. https://educationhq.com/news/weve-done-nothing-wrong-betting-firms-shift-blame-to-parents-other-platforms-213277/

I don't understand why they are shifting the blame to parents and the platforms running those ads. Aren't the casinos and gambling platforms paying to have their ads displayed on those platforms? IMO, parents and the platforms running those ads shouldn't be blamed for this, instead of making the blame one sided they should stop running gambling ads on platforms where children visits regularly to prevent them from getting exposed to gambling platforms and casinos.

If gambling ads are being banned in a particular country won't that ads appears in other people's countries? Using those instances that you mentioned. And yes there is a sense into what you have said about parental control toward Gambling and when people neglect their responsibilities to control their children on the types of site their children should be accessing especially those apps that advertise gambling ads. When their parents limits their activities it would also reduced how their children gets exposed to gambling sites. Naturally the gambling site do not directly invite people to go gamble on their site and even when they are gambling, there is always a warning that indicates only 18+ plus.

if the government of their own country have ban certain gambling ads in their country, did they also ban the creators from other countries from making promotional videos of offshore casinos?
This is where biggest legal and technical flaw lies. It is easy to close any country's border but impossible to seal border of internet. Offshore casino operate from country where regulation are very lax. They have popular streamer and content creator from other countries promote gambling in their live stream and video. Even if Australia, UK or other country impose any national ban on advertisement, they will not be able to apply their own sovereign law against foreign creator. Consequently, if any child doomscrolls through video from foreign Twitch streamer and YouTuber, they will inevitably see those ads. No matter how many ban the govt imposes on domestic TV or radio, it will be to no avail. This responsibility must be borne by parents.

It's not the same discussion because in this thread the blame of children seeing gambling ads is put on someone instead, of these casino representatives to accept the blame of putting their gambling ads every where, they're putting it on the parents of these underage teens. What will the casino representatives talk about calling their customers who are gamblers to encourage them to continue gambling if they're on a break. The blame goes to everyone, the casino representatives, the influencers running the ads and the parents of these children. You can access anything from the internet because there's no boundary.

Parenting nowadays is really hard that's why the government needs to step in. The world of the internet is very dangerous, and since our kids have gadgets with them all the time we cannot always monitor or control what they visit, so this move by the government is already expected and sooner or later other countries will eventually follow suit.
Betting firms blaming the parents, what would that achieve, it will not change the fact that government regulations are getting stricter and could probably impact them especially if they have already paid huge amounts of money to celebrity endorsers and there is no clause in their contracts allowing them to recover those payments once regulations like this take effect.

It seems like a lot to unpack, because there are many cases where it's not with the parents. Still, i think what we can take advantage of right now is the technology we are in right now, and that's how we could take advantage of technology to help mitigate and also help the people who are getting really addicted to gambling or something.
With casinos or betting firms, as you mentioned, maybe they could create some transparency act to help address this problem.

In this age of information and technology, no matter how hard you try, you cannot keep children confined indoors. If they are so bothered by casinos behavior then why do they hand their babies mobile phone in the first place? It’s like handing any little kid bag of candy and then saying, Don’t eat it, or you’ll get cavities! WTF. And are they accusing casino of lying? They are failing at parenting themselve, yet they are now shifting blame onto casino.

That's part of what inspired me to create this one, not to discuss what was said there but to focus on why blames is only mounted on the government and gambling operators when parents are being so negligent, lacking good behavior of parenting but wants to put the blame of their kids gambling misconduct on the gambling site. You can report this topic, if moderators finds its to be same as the topic you mentioned, let this one be delete then.

Blaming the casinos for kids exposure to gambling ads is not the best solution to it, because even parents have a role play if will their kids end up gambling or not, but its obvious that they are just putting all the blame on casinos. Because I'm very sure that platforms like Spotify and YouTube Music all have a premium option where you can listen to music without ads. And if a parent has failed to subscribe to the premium feature and then an ads shows up, they now blame casinos rather than themselves. And in situations like this, proper education regarding the advantage and disadvantage of gambling is the best thing to do.

You’re conveniently missing something here. It’s impossible to use Spotify ad-free without paying a subscription. How many people can afford to have more entertainment bills on their salary? If government from countries A bans gambling ads by creators, can't the kids still see ads from creators in country x,y,z assuming their parents don't opt out of countries they don't want theie kids to see content from?
I don’t expect these laws to completely stop minors from gambling, for me it’s a success if we can get the numbers reduced to 25%.

If indeed the country is really a total ban on gambling ads, then the government and related platforms must be able to comply with the rules and filter out any ads that may appear. But what I found is that the government banned gambling but some season and video platforms are still authorized to display gambling ads. The conclusion is not on parental control anymore but the role and assertiveness of the government in implementing the rules. They are always double standards, this one is allowed, this is not, this is prohibited but allowed on platforms A B and C.

We should try to understand that we can't confine this children in a room without them having access to the Internet but in a way the parents should always check on their kids and to know what they do with their phones so they don't blame the casinos for having their children exposed to gambling, there should be litigations on the children on sites not to open by the parents in other to protect them from gambling advertisements.

For issues like this, we cannot blame who is most at fault. All parties have roles that must be carried out. The government must implement regulations and supervision on gambling advertisements. Casinos must also comply with the applicable rules. Meanwhile, parents cannot be free from the responsibility of supervising their children. The biggest exposure that makes children today attracted to gambling does not come from the ads they see on social media, but more from the influence of playmates or friends at school who have already been familiar with gambling.

Parental guide isn't what every parent knows how to set up to stop kids from visiting certain site outside the country where gaming ads are not banned. Also kids are getting smarter with gadgets, and I believe they've found a way to boycott parental guide. For work obligatoriness, some parents do not have much time to spend with their kids, judging based on the nature of today's society, parents shouldn't be blamed so much for the shortcoming kids face using the internet. Settling bills and upbringing was never easy, but it has gotten too serious and hard to fulfill in recent times.

Betting companies are in business, and being successful in business requires you to market your services which is exactly what the gambling companies are doing. It will be very difficult for them to control who their marketing gets to which includes the vulnerable. Parents on the hand have the responsibility of guiding their children which many have failed at doing so they do not even care about giving the right orientation to their children about gambling and the dangers it carries. An informed parent will be aware of how much of gambling advertisement we have going on and how they need to teach their children about it, so they do not start gambling in secret and then become addicts from an early age.

One thing i know about advertising is that there's always a target audience, and the best way to control adverts from reaching those who aren't supposed to see it is to aim and focus at the target audience, that way you will be able to reduce how much or how often those who aren't supposed to see it gets in contact with such adverts. i know you cannot completely eliminate the exposure to minors, but the goal should be to reduce it to the barest minimum, and to achieve this, both parents and the casinos has got a role to play rather than throwing blames all around, the government isn't left out on this too.
As for the parents, they should always make sure to use the parental guidance features on some of these platforms where these ads gets to be displayed, that will help a little because i know the parents will not always be there to supervise the watching. The casino should also maintain placing their ads on platforms they know is been visited by their target audience and not just generally putting it out there on every platform and expect the parents should always stay in control of the exposure their children gets to these ads.
The government can also come in with regulatory ads policies that will help keep the internet space or various platforms in their jurisdiction sane and under some forms of control for the safety of the society, collectively, they will be bale to keep all of this under control enough to make the society better than throwing blames all around.

There is nothing to argue about the fact you said, this thought has some alignment in my heart but in addendum to this factual truth, how far have today parents checkmate their children activities and monitor them possibly caution them, through telling them the implications of been addicted to gambling because I can attest from the environment I reside that most parents don't have the time of taking such responsibility, cut off some relationship that will be misleading their children, secondly some parents their own lure children into gambling through their ways of analysis on how they will win millions and all sorts of analysis and the child will perceived that direction as the right way and all energy will be channel on that psychologically, parents must play their parts as all parties role can't be overruled on matter of this nature, @ pandu Geddon I concord that your correct.

I feel the gambling companies are partially right on blaming parents and ads companies who display their ads on platforms where kids usually visit without considering the consequences of their actions.
The betting companies do not deliberately put their ads on such platforms knowing fully well that there restrictions that could attract sanctions if flaunted so it is the place of a parent to monitor the sites their kids often visit in order to prohibit them from harmful contents on the internet
Cause there are chances that a child could stumble into such platform in the course of using the internet, the kids can as well meet strangers online that can lure them into those bad underage social habit as gamble
