To Summarize the content of the article, it's about the growing dispute in Australia on who must be held accountable for gambling advertising that is reaching children, and there's an alleged that the betting companies are encourage vulnerable customers to become more compulsive. Some critics are saying that the reform that which was proposed is very weak to defeat the problem and seek that gambr ads be banned.
Where any adult choose to spend his money is entirely their own business. If we assume that ordinary people lack capacity for independent judgment and must always be controlled by government’s nanny state policy then that constitute direct assault on individual freedom. Casinos or sportsbook are legal form of adult entertainment. Just like cigarettes, alcohol or fast food this too is a choice. If any child become addicted to alcohol, should entire alcohol industry be shut down? Just as parents protect their children from cigarettes, alcohol it is also their responsibility to keep them safe from gambling.

Note that the Spotify has an advertising opt out option that users can decide to opt out of the kind of ads they don't want to see, such as gambling ads and that satisfies my concern.
You’re conveniently missing something here. It’s impossible to use Spotify ad-free without paying a subscription. How many people can afford to have more entertainment bills on their salary? The article mentioned that Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) add an advertising opt-out option two years ago, but I think it's specifically for that country because here in my country I don't see such feature on Spotify, I have to subscribe to avoid ads interruption. So the SBS added option allows streamers there to opt out of the kind of ads they don't want to see, it's not like the ads is completely being removed but you can choose the kinds of ads you only want to see. If government from countries A bans gambling ads by creators, can't the kids still see ads from creators in country x,y,z assuming their parents don't opt out of countries they don't want theie kids to see content from?
I don’t expect these laws to completely stop minors from gambling, for me it’s a success if we can get the numbers reduced to 25%.
If they reduce to 25%, then nothing has been done yet, based on the statistics I saw by Australia Institute, if it's correct then there are 46% of minors gambling, if it can be reduced to 6% or 10% that would be better off.

That's part of what inspired me to create this one, not to discuss what was said there but to focus on why blames is only mounted on the government and gambling operators when parents are being so negligent, lacking good behavior of parenting but wants to put the blame of their kids gambling misconduct on the gambling site.
You can report this topic, if moderators finds its to be same as the topic you mentioned, let this one be delete then.
We cannot blame only the parents, influencers, gamblers, or the state. The reason is that every one of them has responsibility towards protecting children from being exposed to gambling. Parents have the responsibility of monitoring their children to ensure that they are not exposed to gambling. The government also needs to regulate the promotional activities of gambling service providers. Children are easily attracted to some influencers. Such celebrities shouldn't be allowed to promote gambling.

I feel it would be wrong to place all the blame on only one party and neglect that they all have roles to play here. The solution isn't to ban gambling ads in one country because through internet Children can still access gambling ads in other countries. So restricting gambling promotion by government may not be the best solution, because children can be exposed to gambling ads on social media. Therefore, I believe it is not just parents and gambling companies that needs to take responsibility for this. Gambling company and social media platforms should be held accountable for whatever content they promote and parents should always make sure that there children are not having access to harmful content online.

we have celebrities, creators of funny content and other niche, in different countries and these creators could also at some point do ads for offshore casinos, and the young ones who are always on their phone doom scrolling without parental guidance, they will see those ads because they are not restricted from watching videos of creators from other countries, so if the government of their own country have ban certain gambling ads in their country, did they also ban the creators from other countries from making promotional videos of offshore casinos? If government from countries A bans gambling ads by creators, can't the kids still see ads from creators in country x,y,z assuming their parents don't opt out of countries they don't want theie kids to see content from?
If parents hand over phones to their underage children without any supervision then why should any legitimate business entity be held responsible for that? If parents fail to use ad filter and parental control for their children then fault lies not with casino but with parents themselve. You know in this global era it is not possible for any country's government to simply block content from foreign influencer and creator. So instead of blaming government and casinos, parents should monitor their children's internet usage.

~ Gambling executives are denying any wrongdoing for children being exposed to betting advertising, shifting responsibility to parents and other platforms.
Senator David Pocock says Australians are sick and tired of the lies perpetuated by the gambling industry.
Multiple examples of children reciting advertisements and slogans of betting agencies after exposure to adverts during sporting events have been detailed at a Senate inquiry into Labor’s proposed gambling reforms. https://educationhq.com/news/weve-done-nothing-wrong-betting-firms-shift-blame-to-parents-other-platforms-213277/Bullshit. If promos are available to everyone, kids are going to see them. Parents can't stop that with restrictions. But honestly, technically or legally, the casino might be in the right. They've got good lawyers who can find ways to promote themselves without getting into legal trouble. I think fixing the laws could help here. The government and its lawyers need to be more proactive and close the loopholes that let casinos shift the blame for their own promotions onto someone else.

I see reasons to blame some parents for their negligence, because why would you put the whole blame on casinos and sportbooks and also the government meanwhile they are helping but some parents are not.
If government imposes strict ban on legal and licensed casino then players will inevitably be forced to turn toward completely unregulated, shadowy offshore casino. So excessive restriction and advertising ban on casino industry end up backfiring on government. Furthermore legal casinos promote responsible gambling. It includes feature for deposit limit, self exclusion age verification etc. Yet, attempting to shut these down in the name of over regulation will further encourage black market. Therefore, casino and betting firm should stop being made the scapegoats for everything. Casino is not any obligation, it is form of entertainment. If parents fulfill their responsibility properly and make use of filtering option then I believe most of these controversies would resolve itself.

Both parties are pointing fingers at each other because they don't want to be responsible for why gambling proliferates in their country. I think the main culprit is gambling advertising, which encourages young individuals to engage in gambling. Parents may have some lapses, but without these gambling advertisements, young individuals wouldn't know where to play or engage in gambling. If parents hand over phones to their underage children without any supervision then why should any legitimate business entity be held responsible for that? If parents fail to use ad filter and parental control for their children then fault lies not with casino but with parents themselve. True that, but have you ever think that if there is no gambling ads, even though parents don't supervise their kids, these kids will never know about gambling? You know in this global era it is not possible for any country's government to simply block content from foreign influencer and creator. So instead of blaming government and casinos, parents should monitor their children's internet usage.
Authorities must be held responsible on these things. We have seen content being blocked by regions so why should the government not implement this kind of filtering?

If gambling ads are being banned in a particular country won't that ads appears in other people's countries? Using those instances that you mentioned. And yes there is a sense into what you have said about parental control toward Gambling and when people neglect their responsibilities to control their children on the types of site their children should be accessing especially those apps that advertise gambling ads. When their parents limits their activities it would also reduced how their children gets exposed to gambling sites. Naturally the gambling site do not directly invite people to go gamble on their site and even when they are gambling, there is always a warning that indicates only 18+ plus.
We blame for everything do you think it's esdy to monitor these smart Genz? Internet is so wide to monitor the sire your kids are exposed to, just as you said gambling site will not force you to register on their site, they only promote their business online, for those that are interested in it, we should blame parents, children should be respectful, if they obey the law of their countries they should be able to obey the terms and conditions of gambling, all gambling sites has term and conditions for their customers and under age restrictions. Yet children will still forge their way into it. Parents can only guide and protect the children from what they have control over, children should stay within their age, parents have other things to do than you be chase and monitoring kids phones, it's good not to allow them to own a phone till they're 18. Except you allow and you will be with them when they're using it. I don't blame parents I blame the government instead, the rate if gamblers are high because of lack of unemployment and poor service delivery.

When parents fail to raise their kids properly and then find out that their children have been exposed to gambling ads, they have no other choice but to blame casinos and so on. They do this because they have no power to shut down casinos, so they choose to criticize gambling instead. What they fail to realize is that they are also responsible for giving their kids the opportunity to use smartphones in the first place.
If parents really don't want their children to be exposed to gambling ads, they shouldn't let them use smartphones in the first place.

There should be parental controls. I do not know if Spotify has it, but it has to be there if they are advertising gambling sites. According to what I saw online, it has it. So the parent has to be blamed. My input/question: we have celebrities, creators of funny content and other niche, in different countries and these creators could also at some point do ads for offshore casinos, and the young ones who are always on their phone doom scrolling without parental guidance, they will see those ads because they are not restricted from watching videos of creators from other countries, so if the government of their own country have ban certain gambling ads in their country, did they also ban the creators from other countries from making promotional videos of offshore casinos? I do not know about other countries, but in my country, there are many local exchanges that content creators are advertising which are not legally operating. If something like this can happen, it can also happen if it is gambling sites. It is very possible in some countries. It can get to the point that some content creditors are advertising illegal gambling also. Parents needs to go for parental control for their children.

I agree that there should be greater parental control and monitoring, but what my daughter watches doesn't include casino advertisements, as what she sees is age-appropriate. Let's go back to the World Cup. On a channel broadcasting the matches here in Brazil, only casino advertisements were shown, and everyone at home was watching. What could I do in that case? Change the channel, even though the advertisements were happening during the matches? I mentioned the World Cup because it's a family event, not just for adults. Here, in regular television programming, during times specifically dedicated to children's programming, there were also no casino advertisements. So, I disagree with the argument of these betting companies. The same applies to advertisements for alcoholic beverages, which are everywhere, and if my daughter happens to be exposed to that, is it my fault? Give me a break!

The blame goes to everyone, the casino representatives, the influencers running the ads and the parents of these children. You can access anything from the internet because there's no boundary.
That's it bro, everyone should take the blame. Even the government is not left out because they are the ones who gives the gambling sites the license to operate. If we look at it critically, it's just somehow difficult to regulate, because firstly, the company have the license to operate legally, and so they are not doing anything out of the law. Secondly, every business must have a way to send his business to the public, and that's the adverts they do. Many of this companies do paid adverts, and so they spending money for it. On the other hand, parents cannot always be with there children to know what they are doing with there phones. The government cannot just completely stop them from advertising there business. Parents can't stop children from using there phones. I just feel like parents should be more involved and monitor there children a bit, while gambling companies should put some more restrictions to ensure children and teens don't get drowned at early age.

Parents cannot stop their children from seeing such advertisements. To do this, the government, guardians, influencers, and casino platforms must work together. When adults become addicted to casinos, they can often come back or the damage is limited, but when a minor becomes addicted to casinos, they will be unable to understand their own good and bad. And if children become addicted, they will ruin their own lives as well as will be a serious loss for every family. Children are the future but if those children ruin their future, it will not only be a loss to the family but also a great loss to the country.
Everyone has the responsibility to protect children, there is no scope to avoid responsibility for their bad situation by blaming only the family or the government.

If the parent, the government, and even the casino operators were all responsible for creating awareness of responsible gambling and maintaining adequate standards that could prevent abnormal gambling situations, maybe a lot of people wouldn't have had challenges with how they gamble. We can't keep shifting blame to each other when everyone is expected to perform a particular role in helping through the campaign to prevent underage gambling.

The question is, does the advertisement that is rated 18+ reach people in that age bracket? It's terrible to see a child viewing gambling ads when they are viewing children's content. Parents have more of a role to play because they spend more time with the children. Some parents don't monitor how their children use money. They even give them access to their bank accounts, which could fuel over-gambling. As long as the child is not working, it would be easy to detect if they are gambling. Since they rely on their parents for financial support, it would be easy to know what they spend money on.

Honestly, there is no right or wrong answer to this.
Just think of the offshore creator angle... no matter where you are local laws are practically useless at the global feeds. An Australian ban doesn't stop a kid from watching, say, playing a Texas streamer do a sponsored slot stream for hours on end... local laws can't touch that. The internet has no borders (ok... bar the [censored] like China) so unless you go full-blown isolationist firewall world, global ad exposure is a given.
And then the parents, and yes, a lot of the bad parenting out there is totally inexplicable. Spotify actually has a switch in settings to disable gambling ads but nobody looks. My friend gave his 10-year-old an unsupervised iPad with no ad blockers and was surprised when he kept singing betting jingles... like, check the settings buddy.
That said, these gambling executives playing completely innocent is complete nonsense, right? All the sponsoring of every stadium and jersey and broadcast and the line "we don't target children" is just PR crap. Children process that subliminally and through repetition. And it's all their fault anyway - the shady companies, clueless parents, and politicians who think a local ad ban will fix a worldwide problem.

Authorities must be held responsible on these things. We have seen content being blocked by regions so why should the government not implement this kind of filtering?
The question is, who is creating the social media account for the kids, Is it the parents or kids? Normally if you want to open account on YouTube or some other social media, during the process of setting up the account, the platform usually ask for some key information such as age, the preference of content that the person might like to see. With this kind of selection, ads relating to adult content such as gambling, alcohol, cigarette might not come up because the algorithm of that platform detects the setting of that account to belong to a kid, but if parents do not create this account and allow their kids to create the account on their own, the kids will select what they like and could falsify some information that will make the platform think that they are adult and so they will see adult ads. At the end, all blames will only be pushed to the gambling industry.
