Quite an interesting discussion. First, I think we need to learn how to tell people to mind their damn business especially when they're in no position to ask such questions. And, it's also not smart or necessary to provide such information to them when you can just easily come up with a random answer that doesn't relate to money in anyway. Moreover, you haven't gone deep into trading, so I believe it would do you more good to keep the whole thing to yourself while you're still in the learning stage.

This is nigeria and it is safe that people should not know tour business or what you are up to, telling people you trade or do anything related to crypto currency might attract unnecessary attention that you don't really need, lots of people have been robbed due to this. I think you said what I have in mind but let me add something to what you have said.
The moment you start explaining to people about the business you do when you mention online the people will start thinking so many things which may not be what you ever imagined. First you don't have to mention the kind of business you do before they think you have so much money and they will give them a very bad thought to hurt you so they can get money because they see every online worker as someone who has made it in life.

They can label you a fraudster, a criminal a millionaire and the moment they nurture such things you will no longer be safe to move around. Do not discuss your private matters with people, your source of income should be kept private for your own safety.

It's hard to change the mind of people that assume that everything about crypto currency is a scam, this also includes bitcoin investment as well. I try as much as possible not to put myself in a situation where I have to explain to people that I invest in bitcoin. I'm not much of a trader, after trading a few times and incurring losses I decided to stop and focus only on Bitcoin investment. A lot of nigerians don't really give a positive reaction because they just assume that it's a scam. You cannot really blame them for reacting this way, they just lack knowledge.

Most of the people I know are wise enough to tell the difference between what is a scam and what's not. One of the reason people often perceive trading as something related to fraud or scam are as a result of the yahoo boys handwork. They've completely demonised something that is good. When you ask a yahoo boy what he does for living, they will tell that they are into trading, but when they are finally caught for fraud. People will start assuming that trading is a scam or deal with frauds. Moreover they are also cases where many trading guru will scam an innocent person because they want to learn about trading. After being scammed the person too will start preaching bad things about trading to the public. There's nothing bad in Trading, just keep doing what you are doing and disregard peoples opinions as long you don't get addicted to it, and not using your  survival funds to trade.

You have a point, this is not something you always have to explain to others, most times I come up with something else instead of telling people that I'm into crypto. But not all situations are actually bad to do this, one just has to be careful about the people they share such informations with.

Someone already said it but I'll say it again given how important it is. For your safety, keeping whatever you're doing about your bitcoin trading activities to you and you alone. At the end of the day, it's your business. And as long as you're not defrauding anybody, then you don't have to convince anybody about what you do whenever you say you're trading bitcoin or crypto trading in general.

There are already a lot of misconceptions about bitcoin and crypto. You can only try to correct the misconceptions if the person at the other end of the conversation keeps at open mind.

To all they have different definitions to it but when i hear about bitcoin trading i see gambling in a different form and shape. In real explanation both are different from each other but are of same characteristics because the same way gambling is unpredictable same also can trading be.
Trading is one of the most difficult investment system one will ever think of, it appears simply but very dangerous to get involved in as it can make a millionaire become worthless within a twinkle of an eye.

People can’t be actually blame for thinking that way actually. Many fake Ponzi schemes using the name of crypto have scammed people. So most of the average people juat assumes this real Bitcoin is scam also.

But @DPHOR gave you the best advice there, no big deal just keep that your business to your self. The easy way at to attract wrong attention, is sitting around and pressing your phone all day. Police harassment also in this present world now. You don’t hold any one any explanation what you are doing, do yourself well and focus on learning and upgrade everyday and make your money silently.

One thing we must know is that people must talk about what you are doing, especially when it happens that you do not regularly go to work or leave the house the at a regular basis they would always suspect that you are doing something that is not contrary to what they are doing. Many people have the belief that bitcoin or anything trading is a scam because of the baseless news and rumours they might have heard about it. I like this part, some people are too forward, they don't mind talking to anyone without minding if they are relatinh too much, is if even necessary to discuss with what you do with people, just as you said, people from this part of the word thinks differently, any online stuff is seen as fraud without them knowing anything about it, this is the reason why we should not have anything to discuss with people that reason differently from us, to avoid exposing ourselves to some shits, as a Bitcoiner, what I owe any interested intending Bitcoin investors is to tell them what they should know if they approach me and for them to aproach me, the relationship should be there, not a kinda random person.

The reason is that many youths in this country are involved in scamming, and most of them use cryptocurrency to cover up their activities. If you are truly interested in trading, I don't think other people's opinions should influence your decision to become a trader. People will always have something to say about what you do. They may try to make you feel bad or convince you that you have been wasting your time. The truth is that people tend to believe in what they understand. They need to see evidence or proof before they can accept that it is possible to succeed in trading. When you finally become successful, they may claim they always knew you would make it or say you were just lucky. But when you fail, they will point fingers and remind you that they warned you to stay away from trading.

At the end of the day, you need to understand why you want to trade and be ready to take responsibility for your decisions.

I am not an expert in cryptocurrency trading but I am trying my best and also exploring different materials to make sure I have the right knowledge regarding Bitcoin trading.
There was a day at home when I was using my phone to access my cryptocurrency exchange where I have little funds that I am using for my practice, someone saw me along the line and cared to know what I have been doing with my phone all time, whether If I do not have a better job to do than staying at home keep pressing phone? He went further asking what do I always do with my phone, and I also replied him that I am doing trading, thus I am still practicing. What immediately came out from his mouth was " I do not like this type of business that it's fraud", that is the method people who are doing online scamming is using to defraud people, he outlined lot of things whereby I wasn't able to talk much but within me I knew what I was doing and since is not frauding anyone I didn't have to start bantering words with him.

Many people who don't know anything about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency trading will always doubt it, I am used to it by now and I don't really get moved by what people think about Bitcoin, if they don't trust it then it's their business, as long as I know what I am doing and I know what it is all about then I am not bothered by their thoughts. I am always in shock when. I see that people still believe cryptocurrency is a scam. Yes people might try to scam others using cryptocurrency because they don't understand how it works but it doesn't make crypto entirely scam. We've seen how people use even fiat to scam people so it's not the asset itself but the people using it for fraud.

To answer your question, I don't try to hide what I am doing, I know what I benefit from it and I don't care what others think about it. You shouldn't either, just make sure you're not making any mistakes.

Well if you tell those people that you invest in Bitcoin they will laugh and might think of you as a fool in their minds. But when you share your profits with them they will be surprised and in the end they might ask you how to invest in Bitcoin.

Actually it is true that most people don't know about crypto and maybe because of some rumors even if they know about Bitcoin basic they consider it a scam. Some people cannot learn about bitcoin technology because they don't have a good education and even if they want to they won't be able to keep Bitcoin securely.

Long term investment has always been my thing, I like it when I see people talked about long term investment even though it doesn't have to do with Bitcoin perhaps other investment like real estate or others, it is better off than trading. Although each of us have the right to decide whether we are going to go into trading or Long term investment but even though we are going to go into trading we need to make sure that we invest for long term just should Incase trading didn't work out, our Long term investment wouldn't fail.

So if every person takes everything seriously and if they show interest in every place and are able to find the right information by researching that subject then they will not face such a situation and their chances of success will always be much higher.
