The fight is prolly not going to happen. As a matter of fact, I put the chances of it happening at less than 15%. Hypothetically, if the fight does happen, my money would 100%be on Ryan Garcia. I respect Floyd but I'm definitely going to go with the fighter that's more active and still in boxing form.

When someone wants to start seating on the top of the chat they find someone who is out of the game in a while and seek to fight so if they loss them its going to be a double win for each, one maintaining a reputation while the other coming into limelight while paying the said old guy huge percent in the pay out. its more like the Jake Paul vs Tyson but this two guys can't pull Tyson traction in terms of fan reaction and attention, Jake was a youtuber so he understood the algorithm than Ryan will ever do, so Floyd is the only person losing if he takes the fight with that guy except the pay is so huge that he can't turn it down.

I don't know what Mayweather's condition is now as a boxer, but it's not the same as when he is active in the ring and coming up against a hungry fighter on a winning streak after his last fight.

I don't think he has a chance, and Ryan will not agree to an exhibition match. The guy is on a hot streak for more legacy, and Mayweather's 50 - 0 is very tempting for Ryan
If the fight pushes through, it's going to be a mega fight, as both fighters have proven they attract big-ticket sales in their matches.

Maybe, but who knows, we all know Floyd needed money right now and so he could be more willing to put his name and record against Ryan. Garcia has a lot of flaws, he is flat footed and we all know that during Floyd's prime, if you don't move that much you will be hit.

The only cap is that Floyd is already old, but he could still have that kind of instinct in him. The first thing that might impact a boxer is their speed. Floyd's speed is just about normal but his timing his impeccable and he might still have it at this point.

Dunno Floyd financial condition either, but he and some other boxers are turning into chicks in the office that love rumors and talks behind back more than working. Instead of fighting we get rumors and announcement of a fights. Arent you tired of that? It looks like some boxers are competing not who is the better boxer, but who will make a bigger announcement or get more attention. All I see recently that boxer A will fight against boxer B. I dont understand point of all that? From side it looks like both Floyd and Pacman are ready to fight anyone, call to fight everyone, but they badly need someone to pay them and organize the fight.

Let's say this fight happens, who do you think would win and how would it end?
Ryan Garcia is just 28 years old while Floyd Mayweather Jr. Is 49 years old. I do not think Floyd Mayweather Jr. need to accept this fight and I think he supposed to have even retired from boxing.

So if you are asking who is going to win the fight, to me Ryan Garcia will be the one that would win the fight.

He will tell everyone this is going to be a professional fight, but in the end Floyd will turn this into exhibition fight, or will try to make this fight no-contest. Imho if this fight ever happens, Floyd will do everything to keep his perfect 50-0 record. Because that is what he is selling all the time, opportunity to give him first loss. You should not forget that Floyd, in last years, does not fight against those who he cant win. Most probably fight would be a "Non-scored bout" and does not effect Floyds record, or not going to happen at all.

Until there is no official date or they haven't signed any papers, Mayweather is just baiting the media. But if this fight becomes real, I think it still depends on the agreement. If it's for pure entertainment, it's either a draw or Mayweather wins. But if they decide to make it serious, even if it's just an exhibition, I would lean more on Garcia. He is younger, more hungry, especially since he is against the undefeated Floyd. Even if Floyd is older, Garcia can still consider it an achievement if he beats him and proudly say he is the only one that beats Floyd.

If Garcia has pride, and so does Floyd, maybe Floyd's pride is even higher. Considering he is just 2 years older than Pacman and Pacman can still box, maybe he can still box as well. Only if he has maintained his body just like Pacman. But if he has been out of shape for years, that's hard to tell. Garcia has the age advantage, and he is also one of the top tier fighters right now. As long as they have a counter to Floyd's fighting style, Garcia got this fight.

After the fight talks between Pacquiao vs Mayweather 2 fell through, now currently It's Garcia Vs Mayweather. I wonder if this talks is going to follow the same path.

Anyway, here's what Ryan Garcia posted on his Instagram account :

source: Yahoo Sports

No official contract yet, just verbal agreements in which Ryan claimed that they both agreed to a 147-pound professional bout for the WBC welterweight championship. Ryan also added that he doesn't want to have this fight in an exhibition match.

Ryan's Attorney and advisor Guadalupe Valencia also said this as status update to The Ring Mag about this possible match:

source: Ring Magazine

We all know this is just some promotional hype to test how the people and boxing fans react.
With the rumors about Floyd Mayweather getting broke, that could be the reason why he accepted this fight (verbally). But if Floyd really wanted a huge payout, then why not accept the Pacquiao fight? I'm pretty sure it will earn way more than fighting Garcia.

Therefore, I'm thinking Floyd is just bullshitting Ryan, and just entertaining the noise. I don't think he'll gonna put his record at stake against an active and younger fighter like Ryan Garcia.

Let's say this fight happens, who do you think would win and how would it end?

Check this quoted message from this article https://sportsnaut.com/boxing/ryan-garcias-floyd-mayweather-fight-claim-faces-a-major-reality-check

Quote
Ryan Garcia’s push for a WBC title clash with Floyd Mayweather has hit a wall, with the boxing legend yet to confirm the alleged deal. On October 21, 2026, Garcia shared posts on social media saying he and Mayweather had agreed to fight at 147 pounds.

Looks like only Garcia is pushing this fight to happen, then there's no official discussion base on the article I shared has been discussed by Mayweather's camp about this plan of Garcia's camp

Most likely this fight will not going to happen again, since I think Mayweather is pretty much serious to defend his no losses record. But if they will sign an agreement that this is an exhibition match. Maybe Mayweather might agree on this planned bout.

But he has indeed finally retired from boxing for good in 2017. That's almost 10 years ago.

Whether he needs to accept this fight or not will probably be answered by how badly he needs money. I believe Mayweather isn't in good shape right now, at least as far as his finances are concerned. He probably needs to fight, although he might not resort to one if it's a professional match. I'm sure he's more concerned of his unblemished record than making a bigger paycheck. That's his only legacy left, if that's worth calling it that. He's probably looking for an exhibition fight, and only against someone he can surely win against. And that's not Ryan Garcia.

If he's badly in need of money, I think that he would accept all those fights linked to him. But he decline and that means, he don't care about the money for now and he just want to enjoy his life.

Although his empire is slowly shrinking but Mayweather is not broke yet, so most probably he will decline this fight. Because Mayweather is avoiding risky opponents.

Also look at his past fights after he retires, he only pick those exhibition and decline those professional sanctions match.

The verbal agreement shoutted by Ryan on his tweet represent nothing while Floyd has cancelled two agreed games in the past. Beside that his advisor's statement said "WHEN FLOYD IS FREE FROM OBLIGATIONS". Currently Floyd has so many obligations such as fighting IRS, Lawsuit in Nevada, and he has so many debts. I can't imagine him to fight under so many pressures, though he can.
It's explaining the fight to happen only if Floyd get rid off all of his problems, which may take years to make it happen. It seems what Ryan said is just another buzzword. I'd like to see this fight to happen, but skeptic after i read what Ryan's attorney said, which is totally opposite with what has been tweeted by Ryan.

I do not think that the fight between Pacman and Mayweather is completely cancelled. There are just some financial and legal issues around it, but it is not fully cancelled; it's just postponed. I think it would not be possible to even back out at this point, considering they took out loans and advances on that fight. Mayweather has to fight, and Pacman wants to, so it is going to happen.

The trouble was that Greek fighter thing, plus Mayweather is TERRIBLE at money management, so he wastes it even before it arrives; he literally spends more than what the match will earn him before the match and before any payment is made, so that dude will end up broke eventually one day and spend his life in court trying to get out of it. In any case, I think it is clear that the bout with Pacman and Mayweather will happen, hence why I think Garcia's fight won't happen anytime soon.

With the rumors about Floyd Mayweather getting broke, that could be the reason why he accepted this fight (verbally). But if Floyd really wanted a huge payout, then why not accept the Pacquiao fight? I'm pretty sure it will earn way more than fighting Garcia.
That is because Floyd is far from being broke, he's got a lot of apartments AFAIK and that's enough to sustain his lifestyle. And that's why with all of the rumors and reasons about why he chose to cancel fight with Pacquiao is still a good exposure for him because his relevance is never gone. It is what he wants, to continue and be a topic as a talk of the town.

Ryan Garcia is just 28 years old while Floyd Mayweather Jr. Is 49 years old. I do not think Floyd Mayweather Jr. need to accept this fight and I think he supposed to have even retired from boxing.
When Floyd accepted exhibition matches in Japan twice, he may get into this fight too. Because prior those exhibition matches, he's already said that he's retired but still fought.

Floyd's debt is high because he loves a lavish lifestyle, but I think he's more worried about his reputation with 50-1 record than his debt ratio at the moment. So he might just stick to an exhibition kind of a event just for the high pay and low risk.
I would definitely love to see this fight happen but I can't bet my money on Floyd even though he's still a regular gym rat and trainer . I think he's way past his prime and Ryan might just not give him a chance to be funny at all to escape. So an exhibition seems about right without much pressure that's if Ryan would go along with it.

Sounds like maybe they’re trying to stage a big comeback fight after bankruptcy proceedings? Part of me feels like if they did fight it would just be Floyd dancing around the ring and scoring points like all his other fights. I’ve fallen for that so many times. I’d probably fall for it again though in the hopes that Garcia can catch him.

Floyd always has some sort of obligations, it seems he never learns his lesson.  I see why he keeps himself in elite shape and at the rate he is going, this won't be his last fight unless he learns to do and actually does better.  Boxing has always bailed him out of his financial messes, but one day father time will have his say.  To his credit, he draws like no one else; it's not even close.  Below taken from Google.

Largest Individual Purses

• Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor (2017): ~$250 million to $300 million for Mayweather, plus roughly $100 million to $125 million for McGregor.
• Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao (2015): ~$223 million to $250 million for Mayweather, and around $130 million to $150 million for Pacquiao.
• Canelo Álvarez vs. Terence Crawford (2025): Reported at $100 million to $150 million for Canelo via high-profile promotional deals.
• Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois (Rematch, 2025): Estimated around $132 million, driven by major international event funding.
• Oscar De La Hoya (2007): Earned a then-record $52 million for his blockbuster matchup.

Highest-Grossing Pay-Per-View Events (Total Revenue)

• Mayweather vs. Pacquiao (May 2015): Generated roughly $678 million in total revenue ($333 million from PPV).
• Mayweather vs. McGregor (August 2017): Generated roughly $662.5 million in total revenue ($325 million from PPV).
• Mayweather vs. Canelo Álvarez (September 2013): Generated roughly $214.7 million in total revenue.

Floyd Mayweather is on a big debt and would need to generate something big that's why we came to the point that he is willingly wants to fight Ryan Garcia but of course with the reputation that Mayweather has, he will definitely stir some things up that will favor him like this could be an exhibition match only since Mayweather reputation of 50-0 could be messed up by someone far younger than him. This is just a speculation but Ryan Garcia would be the one who will make a call on Mayweather terms, Ryan Garcia can't demand that much since Mayweather a hard negotiator. Even a rematch with Pacquiao didn't come in fruition because he cares about his professional record.

If ever they came up with a real professional fight, the only thing I would think of is Floyd Mayweather is desperate to get a bag full of money and was eager to pay his debt.

I think Floyd prefer fights like he had against Nasukawa. ~140 seconds and 9 millions in pocket Cheesy It was more like a 9 million warm-up for him. Why train and prepare for serious fight when you can hold Coke in one hand and with other knockout kid in front of you. Or 15-20 million paycheck for 2 rounds against shitty kickboxer/mma fighter in a fight under boxing rules. These figures he earns while not in prime or lets say, fighting relaxed. Figures you have provided, they we earned after serious preparation for a fight. So it is a big question what is more profitable or preferable for him Cheesy

Perhaps, but he has 9 figure obligations and 7 figure paydays aren't going to really help his cause that much, esp when time is of the essence.  He would almost need 30 of those Nasukawa type exhibitions to make the amount of money he did off 1 McGregor or Pacquiao fight.

Let's say he has to handle his obligations in 1 to 3 years.  Promoters aren't going to pay $9M each exhibition because he would be overexposed, leading to market saturation and no one would really care anymore after the 1st few and his star power would be significantly diminished.  However, by being scarce, unpredictable, and having a penchant for generating massive hype and making big fights, he keeps his star power intact.  However, I think his window for mega money fights/exhibitions is 3 years, possibly 5.
