Freezing is an extreme step and should be avoided where possible, but I do not think that Hourglass is necessarily a bad option, since it at least does not prevent coin owners from moving their coins, it only makes it slower.
You are right that precedent could be an issue. If we allow the network to freeze coins because of quantum computing, it could be easier to allow freezing for other reasons later. That is a risk I can certainly see.
With a decentralized Bitcoin blockchain, and Bitcoin non custodial wallets, only bitcoin owners with private keys can freeze addresses or UTXOs in their non custodial wallets. No one, no government can freeze addresses or UTXOs of bitcoin owners and this means there is no freeze risk.

You only can lose access to your bitcoin if you do something illegal, commit crimes, get arrested by police and there are things like legal order, physical confiscation of your Bitcoin private keys and bitcoins.

It's a biggest strength of Bitcoin against thousands of altcoins and people have strong belief in the future of Bitcoin because of this strength.

I am not a developer, nor am I a cryptographer, but if I have my way, I am going to make an improvement to Bitcoin's security to make it more resistant to quantum computing threats.

Yes, I know this is not an immediate threat, but the clock is ticking, and before we know it, we could already be facing those threats. I believe efforts are being made behind the scenes to address this threat before it becomes a reality, and that is good.

Any improvement to Bitcoin's security that can make it more resistant to quantum threats would be a great relief to Bitcoiners.

There is an improvement proposal with Bip 360 proposal been a soft fork to Pay-to-Merkle-Root (P2MR). You can follow up the forum discussion here on this thread.
Thanks bro, I will check it out

How do you know that it wont be improved to be resistant to quantum computing threats? And how do you know that the same computers that will be used to breach bitcoin’s security will not be used to make its security more tight, and to prevent it from happening. Bitcoin will be quantum resistant and this is certain, but the exchanges can become vulnerable and we cant blame bitcoin for the mishaps of The exchange
Read my post again and show me where I said that Bitcoin will not be resistant to quantum computing threats. Quantum computing is a potential threat and all I am saying is that we should not fold our hands doing nothing until the threat becomes a reality. The advancement in quantum computing should be a major reason for developers to develop better security solutions so we all will be on the safe side.

You should follow up this thread with me thread.

Bitcoin is valuable because of its security and transparency. But no technology is beyond improvement. Would you improve its transaction speed, reduce fees, enhance privacy, or leave it exactly as it is?
Bitcoin is unique in it's way, changing anything about bitcoin could compromise it's purpose and long built value over time.

But one thing that could be suggested would be improving it's security with the advent of better technology, more secured wallet recovery process and an easier guide on what bitcoin is for newbies to understand explicitly without any confusions or misconceptions.

I feel that if anything should be changed about Bitcoin it will definitely alter it security system, making it easier for scammers to break through, and might be completely controlled by people who have been longing to take full charge of Bitcoin. Rather, if something should be improved it should be something that strengthen the security system making it more secured than it is now so that those who are work on different means to take charge of Bitcoin will not succeed, more effort should be but in place to make Bitcoin even more decentralized as it is because that is one of the main unique nature of Bitcoin if anything should alter this nature then it uniqueness will fail and it becomes like every other assets.

The Taproot upgrade years ago created opportunities for scammers to deploy their scam BRC20 tokens on Bitcoin blockchain like Ordinals, Runes and scammed a lot of money from many people as well as caused Bitcoin mempool congestion and expensive transaction fees for months.

Hypes from these useless inscriptions went away for good, and Bitcoin mempools have returned to normality so that Bitcoin users have been able to enjoy very cheaper transaction fees recent months, even under 1 satoshi/vbyte fee rate.

Ordinal theory and the rise of inscriptions.
Inscriptions, Mempools and Miners.

Bitcoin is a total package, a well thought-out creation by Satoshi, changing anything about Bitcoin at this stage would in one small way or another compromise it's decentralization and limited supply, I think that it should be left the way it is, it's transaction fees and speed is not a problem for me. Rather than thinking about what I feel can be changed about Bitcoin regarding it's network and market I will rather focus on it's adoption and usage. I don't mind Bitcoin being an asset for investment but if it can be accepted by many small businesses and holders are willing to spend it that would really cap it's adoption, so if I can change anything it would be to spend it as much as we're holding it, although I know that it can happen in the future.

Bitcoin is okay as it is in terms of security, decentralization, speed and fees, trying to improve the security of Bitcoin might cause some technical issues, the decentralization of  Bitcoin those not need improvement I think its fine as it is, so is its speed, these are the base of Bitcoin , trying to change any of this things is like trying change the foundation of a house that has built up to 90% everything might come crashing down.
The most important thing for Bitcoin now is it's adoption rate, I would like a situation where the banking system revolves around Bitcoin

Bitcoin’s public ledger makes transactions traceable, and once an address is linked to someone’s identity, their financial history can become exposed, so I personally would pick privacy.

Financial privacy isn’t necessarily about hiding crime; it’s about preventing everyone from having their balances and spending habits monitored, which is especially important where crypto is involved, and has pretty much necessitated the introduction of non-custodial frameworks like Babylon Labs' Trustless Bitcoin Vaults to make BTC less reliant on third parties, especially when it is used to access liquidity across chains.

Reinforced protections would make Bitcoin more practical for everyday transactions while preserving its security and decentralisation.

In as much as there are increasing security threats that Bitcoin is experiencing I feel that there is no much change that Bitcoin nerds Even God in his Creation deliberating left some imperfections especially we the human. So Bitcoin is just fine just the way it's whether you say it's Bitcoin is slow, problem of transactions fee or not trying to modify Bitcoin will be destroying it originality that the creator intended.
Exactly, bro. Imperfection does not make something bad, but OP here is asking what changes or improvements we would want, although there is always room for improvement. Members before your post said what improvements they would want, and to be honest, I would want improvements in fees and scalability. Although the threats we are facing right now are also important because now is the time for developers to make BTC quantum-resistant.

If they fail, then we are fucked, haha. I might not be because I am not all in BTC, but as of now, many things are happening not just with BTC but with gold too. Gold is not going anywhere because of institutional money, and in the same way, BTC won't go anywhere if institutions want it.

I understand that BTC did not need institutions before and won't need them in the future, but I am just saying this because if anything happens, they have invested billions and donated thousands to developers so they can work on the QC threat. So I hope they will find a way.
