My first experience using Bitcoin to make a payment was really an interesting one that I would love to share for educative purpose. Very early in the morning I left my house to a shop we're I can get some few electronics for house use, after selecting my choice, I decided to make payments, which I decided to pay with Bitcoin for the first time, I was so excited because it was my first experience, but unfortunately something happened. The person I was supposed to pay has no bitcoin wallet, and did not even know how to receive payments through Bitcoin. It becomes a burden to me because I have already packaged all my appliances I bought, just left with the payment. She was even finding it difficult to understand how the payment works, and I think that was her first time of hearing about making payments with Bitcoin. Instead of giving up, I took the opportunity to educate her about Bitcoin for about 4hrs. I explained what Bitcoin is all about, how it works, and why a wallet is needed to send and receive money. After explaining the basics she needed to know, I ensure she asked questions and briefly narrated all I have taught her. After that I helped her set up a Bitcoin wallet, guided her through the process, and finally sent the payment successfully to her Bitcoin wallet and she received it immediately. Safety tips... I enumerated alot about safety in details which are: 1. Don't share your seed phrase to anyone 2. Cross- Check every wallet before sending money. 3. Send little funds first and confirm if the receiver has received before sending a huge amount. 4. Be aware of scammers. I was so delighted about this experience because I was able to teach people about cryptocurrency, immediately she was also educating others as well. It's only when you are informed and educated, that is when you can preach about Bitcoin, because adoption begins with education. In conclusion Not everyone knows about Bitcoin, try in your little ways to educate others about the world of cryptocurrency. Bitcoin it's not just about receiving or sending funds, rather it educate, lecture and enlighten ones mentality about the future and helping individual to know more about digital finance. .

Wow she was very trusting I guess cautious people like me would have been a huge road block Lol a stranger meeting me and convincing me that he has a type of money I have not much information with Good luck with that. And why would a shop state they accept Bitcoin without knowing how to receive with it Or even having a bitcoin wallet. It's irrational and hard to believe in my opinion.

That was very brave of her to trust you like that. Now she's more informed and can go on to improve on the knowledge she had just received. I had to pay for classes to get that understanding, it's good to see there's still free information out there.

Bitcoin opportunity are numerous and this is why we cannot withhold from teaching orders if they are truly interested in learning the new opportunity with a decentralized digital network, we can also help with the situation by introducing this forum to them so that they could see the advantage of coming here on board and how vast knowledge about bitcoin could be discussed on this platform, let them know also that there is risk in anything they are doing and must be able to acquire more information in order to keep them safe from any mistake along the way.

You bought electrical goods and the person from whom you bought them already had an idea about Bitcoin and he may be a Bitcoin holder that is why he showed interest in accepting Bitcoin from you but now my question is how did you know that he can accept payment through Bitcoin or how did that person understand that you can pay through Bitcoin. Since there are some easier and more familiar means of payment than this then how did the subject of Bitcoin come to the fore without them coming up. Anyway I would say that you should be a little more aware about Bitcoin and be careful while making such transactions.

Op You have taught her almost everything. I hope that through this she will gradually be able to gain a complete understanding of Bitcoin. If I were in your position after teaching her these things I would definitely show her practically how she can send Bitcoin and teach her how to view Bitcoin transaction history or status through an explorer, because those who are new can learn a lot through these things. They will be able to see who sends how much to whom, see the transaction fee and see how long a transaction takes. And I would also teach her never to copy an address from an explorer.

Instead of giving up, I took the opportunity to educate her about Bitcoin for about 4hrs. Four hours?? You really have that much time to spend in one place? That's incredible! After explaining the basics she needed to know, I ensure she asked questions and briefly narrated all I have taught her. After that I helped her set up a Bitcoin wallet, guided her through the process, and finally sent the payment successfully to her Bitcoin wallet and she received it immediately. I can't really say for sure but, it's obvious that you're a Nigerian. How did she not suspect that you were trying to rob/ play a scam on her at a glance? I'm not saying your story is false right? I'm only trying to understand how she was comfortable with all these bla bla bla with her money, especially since she had no knowledge prior to your visit? Not everyone knows about Bitcoin, try in your little ways to educate others about the world of cryptocurrency. Only those who wants to be educated. Don't always forget that part!

Did this really happen in real life? I am giving the benefit of the doubt because I also have this experience but not with a stranger although it was with a friend. For business related like what OP told, someone got to be trusting with they knew for the first time is quite unbelievable. She's in a business and she knows how to handle payments and going with something unfamiliar and putting 4 hours of her time is telling her dedication for it. I don't know, I'm about to fall and believe this story. But just like everyone else, we are doubting although what's in it for us even if we don't believe?

If I were that seller, I would ask you to leave my store and tell you to come back with cash. Having a complete stranger walk into my shop and spend four hours teaching me about something I know nothing about would honestly be pretty annoying. It's not me against Bitcoin education, but if you want to educate someone, you should understand what they're doing at that time. If they're running a business, I don't think it's the right time to teach them about using Bitcoin.

The possibility of convincing someone who have not heard of Bitcoin and have never accepted Bitcoin payment before is very low, an exception is if the person already had interest in Bitcoin and finally met someone who can educate them but they might not trust a stranger they just met for the first time. Lots of scam has happened and people do not easily trust strangers like this, so I am curious to know if this person is one of your relatives or someone that have known you for a long time to be able to trust you to help them set up their wallet? I do not really see the need to convince someone to receive payment in Bitcoin if they don't know about Bitcoin, at least they need some time to learn about Bitcoin before accepting it.

Yeah right, I wonder why you would be excited to transact with bitcoin if you haven’t previously confirmed that the store owner accepts bitcoin before you decided to do that and you expected it go as planned? I’m a person that always likes being prepared for any scenario, if I decide to use bitcoin to buy something the first thing that will come to my mind is to find stores that accept Bitcoin as means of payment so this doesn’t make much sense to me. You can’t just walk into a random store and hope that the owner accepts bitcoin, we aren’t there yet, the amount of poeple that know about Bitcoin and trust it enough to use it as means of payment are so small compared to those that don’t!

I don't know if your story is true, but this is the first time I've heard of someone teaching someone about Bitcoin so quickly and convincing them to accept Bitcoin. Didn't you have fiat currency? And you should have bought products from stores that accept payment through Bitcoin. Anyway, it will be risky for the merchant because Bitcoin is not stable, so will he be able to convert Bitcoin to a stable currency at the right time? Did you give him an idea about this? If not, then the merchant may suffer losses.

@OP it is good to know that you come in agreement with the seller to pay in Bitcoin. I am baffled, though, how did you convince the seller to receive Bitcoin, and how can you say that the store receives Bitcoin for payment when in your story, it was the first time the store owner actually transacted with Bitcoin, because you had to teach the seller.
4 hours of teaching, that is too much for occupying the operation of the store unless you know the owner and the transaction is made in private deal which you missed to state.

Probably the seller is a good friend, because I doubt anyone who sells such items would easily accept a kind of payment they know little to nothing about with having trust for the person or respect or even without having a little knowledge before , in the first place. This is how the organic growth begins and am sure the seller would from that onset start receiving payments in such way from others.

It's kind of weird... this is unbelievable. For me, no one is that stupid, especially the store owner, he should understand first about bitcoin and then accept payments, but what if he doesn't understand, maybe the next person who buys goods in his store he can be cheated again. Understanding how to use bitcoin for 4 hours is not enough... I don't believe this story myself.

Interesting. But next time, educate people when they ask how to use Bitcoin as a payment method. You don't go ahead and teach a stranger who owes a business how to use Bitcoin as another payment mechanism when they are conversant with fiat. Lest I forget, did you for once, tell the stranger about the volatility of Bitcoin, so that she will be aware that Bitcoin can increase today; the next day it has decreased by up to 20% or more

This is an interesting action you carrier out in that shop, and it is a rare thing for someone to easily get trust in the matters of finance, and mostly when you are working for someone as a staff, because any funds lost/misplaced will have to be replaced.
It is not ideal for that shop or the owner to say they accept Bitcoin and they did not take it into consideration to have their staff member educated about it. The girl being so easily convinced and trusting, if it where a tricky/bad person, she may end up being scammed at the end of the transaction.

Well you did well to observe if it's true or not, my own concerns is promoting and creating awareness to anyone who's willing to be inform. Understanding the risks involved in it too.

Bitcoin it's not just about receiving or sending funds, rather it educate, lecture and enlighten ones mentality about the future and helping individual to know more about digital finance. .
It's always nice to see individuals who took their time to actually educate people about Bitcoin instead of just giving up when the other person doesn't know how Bitcoin works. Nevertheless, you spending 4hours teaching someone the basics and helping them set up a BTC wallet is more than something most people would do. Your level of patience is how real adoption spreads, but the electronics seller trusting everything you said to the extent of accepting BTC as payment triggered curiosity in me. Which is why i want to ask you this question. Does the person know you before? Because no sensible item sellers will take the word of a buyer for it about the acceptance of a certain money that's not supported by the central bank.

It is nice what you did, but you need to be really careful about this. You should not onboard some strangers just like that, because you might run into a bad person one time and they will take note of your identity and then later this could lead to criminal activities against you. There have been too many attacks on innocent people this year so we need to be extra careful. Some crazy criminals believe that anyone who has Bitcoin is rich which is just wrong, we have the data that proves this. To get back to the topic, I remember two things very clearly. My first Bitcoin payment online, and my first lightning transaction. Man we take the Bitcoin stuff so for granted these days, and many people who have gotten so many benefits from Bitcoin don't do much for it but this is a human habit that works with all things. What was even better was when I made a lightning transaction in a restaurant. I had my doubts if it was going to work or not, it is always a bit suspicious with these things at first. When I sent it and it showed up as confirmed by the receiving wallet like 2 seconds later, that was just amazing. That's why I highly recommend lightning for making payments.
