More than just a transaction! My first time using bitcoin for payment

Very early in the morning I left my house to a shop we're I can get some few electronics for house use, after selecting my choice, I decided to make payments, which I decided to pay with Bitcoin for the first time, I was so excited because it was my first experience, but unfortunately something happened.

‎The person I was supposed to pay has no bitcoin wallet,  and did not even know how to receive payments through Bitcoin.

So the electronic dealer didn't advertise that she accepts Bitcoin in her business, but you just felt like paying her with Bitcoin for what you bought? Interesting. I don't know if it's just me, but there are holes in your story, and I find it very difficult to believe.

‎Instead of giving up, I took the opportunity to educate  her about Bitcoin for about 4hrs.

4 hours? You must have a lot of time in your hands. Are you jobless?

Your story might be real but it doesn't seem so to me and one of the best way to show that something like this actually happened, hope you don't mind sharing your transaction details because who actually gets excited to get debited ?
And you spending 4 hours to teach the seller how to receive their payment when you can simply just sell or swap to fiat and pay for your goods, don't get me wrong, I'm not against spending bit on directly without having to swap but I've seen several cases of how some persons where innocently labelled as scammers simply for using bitcoin and it would be very difficult to get a store just suddenly accept a new payment option from a new buying client especially when they're not familiar with the system.

Did this really happen in real life? I am giving the benefit of the doubt because I also have this experience but not with a stranger although it was with a friend. For business related like what OP told, someone got to be trusting with they knew for the first time is quite unbelievable. She's in a business and she knows how to handle payments and going with something unfamiliar and putting 4 hours of her time is telling her dedication for it. I don't know, I'm about to fall and believe this story. But just like everyone else, we are doubting although what's in it for us even if we don't believe?

What confused me is that how confident OP is that the shop will accept bitcoin where in fact the owner has no idea about bitcoin, or she may know about it but she has no idea about getting a bitcoin wallet. Something is quite off.

But if this really happens, well OP has did his best to educate someone and successfully create her bitcoin wallet. I just hope next time she won't be easily trusting to strangers because that would lead her to be easily scam by bad guys around.

The shopkeeper may have had some knowledge about Bitcoin long ago, otherwise the shopkeeper agreed to accept payment through Bitcoin from you. Maybe he did not know about payments, but he knew about Bitcoin. But thank you for teaching him about Bitcoin and Bitcoin transactions through a long period of practice and also taught him how the wallet works and how to accept payments and store them safely. Yes, Bitcoin transactions can be complicated for those who are new to it, but it is easy for those who learn and gain experience. ‎Bitcoin it's  not just about receiving or sending funds, rather it  educate,  lecture and enlighten ones mentality about the future and helping individual to know more about digital finance.

It's good to see that bitcoin education takes place here. But that will only be possible if the person is also willing to be educated especially that bitcoin itself is often associated with scams. Maybe the shop owner is just curious enough and just really want to learn about bitcoin, but no one has helped here with that. Fortunately, OP came and lectured her about bitcoin and having it as a payment system.

However, OP must have discussed too how risky it is to hold bitcoin in your wallet and the customers around knew all about it. She might be a future target for scamming, that's why she should be cautious at all times now that she's already accepting bitcoin as a payment mode.

You must be very happy at achieving your aim and helping teach whose is struggling with getting more facts about understanding Bitcoin and how it works., what a wonderful experience.

That doesn't excuse you from making up stories that don't fit the actual reality in any way. The seller did not have a Bitcoin wallet? But, yes, you taught him. Are you serious? Is there an invasion of storytellers on the forum again? If the store accepts payment in bitcoins, then there will definitely be a competent person at the checkout who knows how sales are carried out. You made up a story, OP, and we can all guess why. Making up stories, setting up events to fish merit was very favorite in the past years. It's harder for them to fish merit with such fake stories but after years of silence, they feel like such stories can be helpful in fishing merit again.

Spammers and farmers can rank up easily through stories.

It is very true that even this day many people don't know much about Bitcoin, they don't even know how to setup a personal wallet. Majority of people who somehow use Bitcoin as payment method often rely on exchanges as they are not technically good to run their own wallet software and they don't have any knowledge about personal wallets.

It is needed to educate our friends and loved ones about Bitcoin and how it works so they can understand it. We must have to keep in mind that not everyone is technically good so those who are not technically good might haven't heard about Bitcoin, and even if they have heard about it they don't know how it works. So it makes sense to teach such people about Bitcoin and tell them how it works.

The real problem here isn't whether or not the seller has heard of bitcoin. It's whether or not the seller has been aware of the risks prior to accepting. A merchant must be aware of the possibility that BTC prices can fluctuate after they receive payment. And that transactions are not often reversible. These are points that should be covered in education. Not wallets! If not, adoption may take place rapidly. But so can the loss of trust. Bitcoin payments are best understood when both parties are aware of what they're signing up for.

This story sounds confusing to me. So basically the electronics shop, where you decided to pay with Bitcoin has no Bitcoin wallet? WTF?
That particular electronics shop accepts BTC payments, but the female, who works there as a cashier knows nothing about Bitcoin?

You do have patience. I definitely won't waste 4 hours of my life trying to explain how BTC/crypto works to a person, who knows nothing about cryptocurrencies. 4 hours seems like a lot. Was she an elderly person? I do believe that Bitcoin can be explained to a person in less than one hour. Did you teach her about BTC mining, hash rates, cryptography, hardforks/softforks and the other "super complex" stuff around Bitcoin?

It was a very nice one, as she was able to make out time to learn everything about Bitcoin without panicking, because sincerely speaking, not everybody would have the patience for this much explanation.

That's why it's always advisable for us to always pay attention for something we don't know, because what you don't know is bigger than you, and you can easily learn it when you settle down to learn, and not by claiming that you know it and ending up losing your assets.

You bought electrical goods and the person from whom you bought them already had an idea about Bitcoin and he may be a Bitcoin holder that is why he showed interest in accepting Bitcoin from you but now my question is how did you know that he can accept payment through Bitcoin or how did that person understand that you can pay through Bitcoin. Since there are some easier and more familiar means of payment than this then how did the subject of Bitcoin come to the fore without them coming up. Anyway I would say that you should be a little more aware about Bitcoin and be careful while making such transactions.

If there is no mention of a Bitcoin transaction while purchasing something, then there will definitely be no understanding between the two people about Bitcoin. Maybe the OP told the person about Bitcoin, which may be why he agreed to accept payment in Bitcoin. If there is a mention of accepting the transaction in Bitcoin, then of course he can pay in Bitcoin and the recipient will accept the Bitcoin. But anyway, since he has paid for his necessary goods using Bitcoin, it is a matter of great joy for him.
