You're the one who've already spent "countless of hours", how's it so far? Speaking particularly of trading, are you in profit? The huge amount of time building, experimenting, evaluating, testing again, and so on and so forth; has it begun to pay off? Did the profit make the time and effort spent all worth it?

As for me, the serious phase has long stopped. I'm still trading until today, in small amounts, but it's not so much for the profit as for the fun. Of course, there's still that ultimate goal to grow my BTC, but trading has developed into a game more than an endeavor to make money. I've learned my lesson.

I'm still interested in Bitcoin, still experimenting, and still learning. But the longer I do this, the more I think about the real cost of the journey — not just money, but time, energy, and opportunities.

For those who've spent years trading or building things in crypto: have you ever wondered whether all the time you've invested will be worth it in the end?

Years? If you are actually doing well in trading, like deep in trading you will be active in one place and that place is X. I have checked trading discussion board, I don't think there are experienced and successful traders left on this forum. There are old threads that teach about trading and are not active, you rarely see threads where people show pnl and charts and all of that. Most of them here hold Bitcoin and it's applications, it's easier and fun than trading.

Don't force yourself on something that is not working. If after spending years on trading and this question is coming from you, it means you are not a successful trader. You should start doing DCA, it will gives you time to invest on other things than sit on your chair and staring at your charts and lose everything you have to other traders.

However, if you had used the time you spent on trading to invest in Bitcoin, you would have definitely been successful, because from the past to the present, there was enough time and opportunity to invest in Bitcoin. Those who are spending time on Bitcoin trading like you may not be able to reconcile their lives,
but those who continue to buy Bitcoin and move forward into the future will definitely find their success. Moreover, in this current situation, Bitcoin investment and long-term investment in Bitcoin are the best, which will definitely fill you with success later.

Yes, I have and at some point I even felt like quitting because of doubt that the goal I'm pursuing might not be worth it and that it's going to be a waste of time and effort seeing no light at the end of the tunnel after years of pushing for it. But I have had encouragement from friends and my experience too which toughened me up. Knowing that trading is not as easy as it seems, experiencing a great success won't be easy too but it is possible as long as one remain discipline and following a realistic plan.

There was a time I felt I hit a road block, I created a topic here and one comment which is still standing as a motivation for me till now is the one I quote below.

Quote
I've definitely had some tough losses in my time, but I think going through those struggles has made me stronger overall.  I've learned how important it is to be patient and stick to your discipline, even when things get hard.  Quitting has crossed my mind a few times, but at the end of the day I don't want to give up on my goals.

It depends what your goal is.  If your goal is only to make money, then you should be focusing on making money and then saving it in Bitcoin.  That has historically been the best way to profit with Bitcoin.  Trading has always been a way to enrich exchanges and nothing else...

If your goal is to learn and grow, then you are on the right path for sure.  Just make sure you that figure out what you're trying to get out of this experience and head down that path.
You gave the perfect response, because everything depends on his goals not on what others think is the best approach. With the look of things he seems more focused on making money from the crypto space through trading, which I believe is not the best way to succeed in the crypto space.

I think it's better he focus on accumulation of Bitcoin and holding it for the long term, rather than spending his money on training with the hope of making it through trading. Just as you said, if he's goal is to learn and grow, then he is on the right path.
