So this question goes to the house:  what can really make you to quit gambling when you’re still winning?

Realistically speaking, it's very difficult because you will believe that the momentum is already in your favour, so you will want to enjoy the opportunity as long as it last. You are only going to stop once you see that you are now gradually losing all that you have won, that's when you will realize that table has turned, so you are likely going to stop if you are a responsible gambler.

Once you get to your profit target of the day will you stop or continue betting just because luck is on your side at that moment?

This is the point where your level of greed will decide everything, because a gambler that is not that greedy will stop and call it a day, but a gambler that is way too greedy will keep on playing, hoping to win more and seize the opportunity while it last .

Should I stop? Probably not. Recently, I stopped like that (without losing once), and I think it was a mistake. If you’re on a winning streak, you should only stop if the streak is broken, that is, after the first loss. Of course, this doesn’t apply to the Martingale system. Since I consider the Martingale to be a path to losing, I won’t even discuss it. I also think that reducing bets after a win is an impractical system. I prefer, at best, to reduce the risk with a more likely bet (and only if you’re too cautious), but while maintaining the bet size. (this is all not about slots, it’s about roulette)

Both the winning and the losing streak is way difficult to let go If you didn't control yourself. Many times I have been so tired that I had to stop playing & move away from the big screen... not to mention obligations & other responsibilities! But if I have free time and I'm in a good mood, the chances of stopping are pretty slim.

When we have free time and desire to play, no matter whether we are losing or winning, it's hard to stop. If we are losing, we will add up more (if we have funds, of course)... That feeling that our lucky hit is just around the corner. Winning gives us that feeling that now is the lucky moment, and we will try to make the most of it... Which usually backfires at one point.

As always, gambling life is full of ups & downs. It's all fun & games, as long as we are playing with money we can afford to spend on the entertainment.

OP I don't quite agree with your first point, because it falls apart once someone is on a losing streak, at that point since they haven't gotten to their target profit they won't stop gambling which will only lead to more losses pilling up for them.
For me I use a betting limit, once I get it I stop gambling whether I'm winning or losing, this way I don't ever gamble with more than I can afford, and if you really look at it you will find that having a bankroll has stopped a lot of people from spending too much on gambling.
So instead of going for a target profit the best thing to do will be to have a bankroll, this way you gambling will always stay within the limits you set for yourself and you won't spend more than you bargained for.

When gambling, I don't set a profit target. When I'm already in profit, I just think about whether it's good enough or I should play more. If I win more, then that's better. I might play further until the winning finally ends. If I lose, that's a good time to call it a day and leave.

However, it becomes a completely different setup when I'm gambling with friends. More often than not, we'd go home with not a penny left. I don't necessarily like it, but you know what happens when you're with your peer. The adrenaline is high. The fun is high. Betting goes out of control.

In real world, you should really stop when you are winning. However, if you are really a gambler, it's very hard to have that self-discipline to quit on top. It's that emotions within you that might tell you to go and try for that one more bet or that one more push in slot machines.

If only we can do this, then everyone might still be in the positive side. But this is gambling, it's what we like about it, the risk to bet on the unknown and see if we are going to win or not. So I don't think that there is a correct answer to this question. Everyone is built differently.

We don't have to accept so much to stop gambling if we can accept gambling as entertainment. When we can accept gambling as entertainment and use very little money on the gambling platform, then we can automatically stop gambling at any time. I gamble only for entertainment and in my spare time, besides, I participate in gambling one to two days a week, due to which gambling is not a reason for my addiction and I have no greed to earn money from gambling, due to which I can stop this gambling at any time and I have no regrets.

Winning streaks do happen at times whereby a gambler will be winning repeatedly within a particular period but that should not make the gambler continue gambling, anyone that has gambled for long will definitely know that regardless of how good you are with predictions you can not always win, one lose can completely jeopardize your entire winning streak, especially those gamblers that always like chasing loses.

It is always better to bet safe by knowing when to stop, personally i normally place myself on a gambling target which includes the amount i use and the number of games i bet within a certain period, even if i am winning i prefer to halt for some time, one thing is that a winning streak can give a bettor over confidence and before you know it, he would make a wrong prediction and lose huge amount of money, always know when to stop and when to play, that is called maturity in gambling which is ability to control your gambling urge.

I don’t see any good reason why anyone wants to lose money before they’ll decide to take a break from the game.

Whether you take a break or not, you'll lose money, gambling is designed that way. Those who win big win much more than they lost. It's not possible to keep winning consistently and never lose. I get your point though, you must not wait to lose back everything you gained from the casino before ending your session and that's valid.. when I win big, I want to my session for the day.

The most important issue when one gambles is managing his greed. The moment someone wins some bets consecutively, he thinks it is his day, then, people end up losing everything owing to this myth. I think I spend more than two days a week on gambling, but I'd like to clarify that I'm not actually placing bets during all that time. Instead, I'm selecting matches, analyzing them, studying the odds, and deciding which ones I might bet on. I also shortlist teams, so I can spend quite a bit of time on that. However I spend very little time actually placing bets, and my betting activity itself remains roughly the same, there are only one or two days a week when I actually place bets.

It is almost impossible for a gambler to stop when he is  on a winning streak, because the human psychology works in a way whereby it will see it as an opportunity that was thrown away if you decided to walk away when you are on a winning streak, So it's only when the steak has been broken, as you have said already is the time you should be walking away.

Once a gambler has gotten his gambling target, his next challenge is greed, because if he can control his greed, he will call it a day, but if he is very greedy, he will never stop because he will believe that now luck is shining on him, it's the best time to regain all the money he has lost in the past.

you need to have an high level of emotional maturity for you to be able to stop gambling at will even when the urge to keep doing so is thier.

there is nothing like a continuous winning because the only thing that is a win is the one you have already cashed out. those that struggle with stopping thier gambling are those that make use of a physical gambling centre where the opinion of others has a way of pushing them into uncontrollable gambling. you have to know that you are responsible for your wins and losses and so, when you are on the winning side, finding a time to zoom off is always the best decision for you.
