Some gamblers find it more easier to walk away after a loss but when you are on a winning streak, you may feel tempted to keep on playing.

For the most part, I think this usually varies according to the individual involved. I know of those who tend to gamble more when on losing streak and those who also gamble above limit when they are on winning streak. Individual orientation matters alot when it comes to this.

In my own little world of gambling, I don't have a profit target as I feel this is a distraction on its own, rather, I have a weekly budget and my goal is to make sure I do not bet above my weekly budget. I could decide to use a single day to stake all the budget, but wouldn't bet again for the week once I have exceeded my weekly budget.

Profit target, as you have said, is the main reason why I would stop playing. Even though I do it for fun, mentally I plan to enlarge my original deposit two times when I feel like I have won enough. Because I think I would better stop, quit and return once I want to play more, than keep on playing until I feel exhausted. For me gambling should be a relaxing activity, than something that exhaust you, make you continue with though "I wish it would stop sooner".

If I am the one that made a profit of $100, am withdrawing everything and closing for the day.  I know my self, if decide to gamble again by using some percentage of that profit I made, I might get carried away  and  continue to gamble more. I might lose all if luck isn't one my side for the second tiime. So that's why I walk away after any round I play .I only gamble on soccer matches which is one the weekend, I combine both  Saturday and Sunday games in one ticket. Whatever is the result of that tickets, I am done for the whole weekend. The more you keep playing, the more chances you give yourself to lose what you have already gained.

I would also withdraw just like you if I deposited $30 and made a $100 profit. Of course after winning I would play a few more rounds to make myself comfortable that I would not win more than this.

Most of the time after winning a slightly larger amount if I keep playing continuously I end up losing my winning amount and then to recover a little after a series of losses the amount of the initial deposit also decreases a lot and later I have to withdraw with loss.

You are describing precisely the paradigmatic case of those who do not withdraw immediately and let themselves be carried away by curiosity and greed. I think the hardest part is that "I'm winning" feels like a reason to continue, when really it's just a number on the screen that can change in a few bets. What worked for me was deciding the stopping rule before I start, not while I'm playing. For example: a set session budget, and a rule that if I'm up by a certain amount I take half off the balance (withdraw it or move it to a different wallet) and play only with the rest.

Moving the profit out is the key bit. As long as it's sitting in the casino balance it still feels like "casino money" and it's very easy to keep betting it. I get where you’re driving to but honestly speaking it's not always as simple as you are making it sound. I have seen so many individuals who always say that they’re gambling simply for entertainment, but they end up finding it hard to call it quits most especially when they’re winning. Yes I agree that a player needs to change their mindset, but it’s not a guarantee that having the right mindset alone will make someone control their decisions when emotions are involved. Most times constantly winning can keep a person playing even when they may have decided to stop at a certain point.  That is why I believe in all what you do, setting limits and having the discipline to stick to them is also important.

This getting to the profit target for the day in gambling simply feels like a mirage to me, and the reason is because I've never come across anyone who actually confessed to achieving such feet even twice in a week not to mention everyday.
Personally, what I do is set aside a small amount of money for gambling, once that amount is exhausted, I stop, this helps put a limit to how much time and money I can spend gambling, just incase a supposed profit for the day is hard or impossible to achieve.

My strategys for this kind of situation is to set a deposit benchmark or set a reminder. I don't usually deposit all my monthly gambling allocated funds at once, but I will make the deposit little my little only on the days I want to gamble, so assuming I deposit just $10 today and I lost it, automatically I am done for that day but if had deposited all the allocation at once, I could end up losing everything within 2 days or a week. The second strategy which is to set a reminder helps me also call it a day because once the reminder rings, it means that I have spent enough time and should take a break. A gambler who doesn't want to be compulsive or doesn't want to keep losing all their balance  at once even after having a huge win, then the person must learn to develop a strategy that will help them maintain a good gambling behavior.

What works for me might not work for another person, so it's important that a gambler finds what can work for them, winning streak is not really so consistent and can trap a person when they don't have a strategy to stop before it's too late.

Well, I don't know about others but as for me, once I get my profit target I will walk away, even if I have not exhausted my budget. It is not all gamblers who normally have profit targets because they know that gambling is not for making money but just for entertainment. In fact, I feel that it is not a good idea for a gambler to always have a winning target because it is very possible that such profit targets will hardly be met in some cases.I just feel that when someone is on a winning streak, an easy way to quit for the day is to stop when they start experiencing one or two losses. For example, if they lose one or two bets in a row, it is better to stop gambling for that day. What I do is simple, I put X amount of money every month, and I never put 1 dollar more than that. I put that amount in and never look back; if I lose it on the first day of the month, that means I will not gamble for the rest of the entire month. If I do not lose it, then I gamble the whole month. On top of that, if I win 2x of what I put in, I withdraw that and go back.

So if I put X amount, and I reach 2x somehow, then I take out half of that and restart from X again. That way, I have not lost a lot of money in gambling for over 10 years now. What is the point of continuing to gambling after reaching your profit target? There’s no point in doing that, but greedy gamblers will do it.  After refusing to walk away, they might get lucky and win more money, allowing them to go home with something significant. Now, here's another side, if you are a gambler aiming for long-term profit like those in sports betting, you don't think short term, you don't think about a day, a week, or a month, you look at the entire season or even a year to see if you are profitable, so you keep winning today, normal, you have a losing streak the next day, normal, what's important is that you hit your goal of being profitable in the long run.

Yes, you should get used to controlling yourself in stopping a gambling session either losing or winning, this is the most important part as the gambler must stay sane instead of the excitement of playing which is good or bad, and let go of the thought of chasing losses that should not enter your frame of mind, and preferably every new session you have regardless of the feeling of previous wins or losses that have previously occurred, this is quite useful.

There are many things that come with winning and losing in gambling. Most people think that once they start winning consistently, which is almost impossible, they have solved all their problems. I wouldn't doubt that some people go to gamble with a target. Let's say, if I am able to win to this amount, then I will stop. Just imagine! For something that is luck based, and then you are setting a target of wins.. am sure this is tye reason why some people keep loosing and get more addicted to gambling. And I trust some poeple, there proposed target will be too big that they must have lost enough trying to meet that target. I don't like it at all.

I think if there should be target, it should be a limit target, that is, if I play up to this amount, I am done for the day, wether i am winning ot not. This is a better decision to make. So when you go to the casino to play games, and you have budgeted a certain amount of money to be used, you can actually leave as the money ends, not minding wether you are at gain or loss. I believe this will be better rather than setting a target for winning when we all know that it is not easy to win games.
