After negotiations with Shakur Stevenson fell through, Devin Haney has shifted his focus to Australia's Liam Paro for a welterweight title unification bout scheduled for December 19. The winner will be in a strong position to pursue an undisputed championship, as Ryan Garcia and Teofimo Lopez are also reportedly in talks for a unification clash. The victor of that matchup is expected to face either Haney or Paro, potentially setting the stage for all four welterweight world titles to be unified. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25520715-devin-haney-vs-liam-paro-set-title-unification-fight-date-and-location-revealed

I'm not sure about this, but Shakur said that he want all the smoke and then wanted to fight for a catch up against Haney, lol. But at least Haney is done with Shakur and it's good that they have settled down for a unification fight with Paro.
One of the problems with Haney is that facing a southpaw, and Liam is southpaw and then fighters that throw a lot of punches, and Liam has that kind of style. So this is going to be interesting match up for Haney on how he will deal with those kind technique. So if Haney will win this fight it could be his defense and going to the judges scorecard. And if Paro has the work rate and landed solid shots then he might win by knockout or TKO.

I don't see the odds yet on the bookies here but some articles say the odds for Haney to win are -833. that alone tells us it's a mismatch, no disrespect to Paro but Haney is not the type of boxer who stays in one place, he is very quick and moves around a lot and does not engage too much, in short Haney is just too smart for him. I would like to see a big upset here but I just don't see Paro being able to pull that off.

It would be nice if Haney and Shakur would fight but maybe promoters have realized that it would result in a boring fight. 2 runners in one ring, the fight will end without either of them getting hurt, so this one is better although based on their skills Paro is not at Haney's level but I love Australian boxers because they are aggressive, hopefully he can catch Haney and put him on the canvas and maybe win the fight. I don't see the odds yet on the bookies here but some articles say the odds for Haney to win are -833.
That's just fair.

I don't feel disappointed with how Haney's negotiation with Shakur is failing because this is also a decent game. Not many people known Paro while he's holding belt.
I think this is a good game to watch. Honey is a slightly better boxer, and i think the gap won't be big. Paro was always playing smart, and it's gonna give obstacle for Haney to win, but i'm going for Haney in this game.
At least haney is not someone who is doing bullshit all day by trashtalk on X. So appreciate this fight. Hope he wins this.
My prediction Haney by UD, that's it.

Have to say,,, never heard of some terms you used,,, but I am looking them up and find them quite interesting. You would wonder or at least I wonder, with athletes in this sport do they focus on being good at one thing and just try to defend against their weakness like southpaw as you say or is it better to be all rounder in everything. From the looks of it their whole career they have the same weakness,,, but you cannot learn and improve everything right? In football team sports you keep adjusting when people find your weakness. Boxing the same?

My prediction Haney by UD, that's it.
That is the easiest one as Haney's KO rate is very low. 33 wins but 15 KO only, while Liam Paro is a bit higher but still not a KO artist. And judging from the last fights of Liam Paro, I don't see some quality boxers on the opponents, so it's like a dream come true for him to fight Haney as this means a bigger purse, but his chance of winning is quite the opposite of the purse size.

I think this will be an interesting and competitive fight as you have 2 boxers as opposed to power guys. I'm sure Haney will be the odd on favorite and believe the fight will go the distance. This fight has upset potential and betting wise, I would go with Paro since he is +600.

Liam Paro scored a massive upset against Subriel Matias in front of Matias ' home crowd, but I don't think he can repeat that upset against a very elusive Haney. Haney is just too good for Liam Paro.
Liam is a good preparation for Haney against Shakur. Liam can handle pressure and loves to move forward. I don't think he can knock out Paro; he has a strong chin. Haney is going to win this fight easily by decision

No odds are released yet on my favorite sportsbook but surely it would be Devin Haney that will be placed as the favorite to win this matchup as the latter has the better quality of opponents. The chance of an upset will always be there but with Liam Paro not being a knockout artist, the chance of that upset for this one is very slim as Haney has a good defense in his arsenal. If only Paro has that one punch that could turn the fight around then that would be great but he hasn't so i'll be putting my money on Haney via decision win.

I will go and voted for Devin Haney here, yes, Paro did upset Subriel, but I think it's more of Matias fault as it looks like he didn't trained hard enough for that fight as he gasses out that's why Paro was able to take advantage of that situation.
For Haney, we've seen his work and his gas tank, although his chin is going to be the big question here, but his defense will be good enough for Paro to missed a lot of shots. He lost to a big puncher like Haney, and Paro is more of a volume puncher than a one punch knockout artist.

After Shakur and Keyshawn backed out of fights with him, this a good quality opponent for Haney to stay active. Despite Paro being a two division champion, Haney should be an overwhelming favorite. Paro’s best win was against Subriel Matias, who was perhaps a bit overrated. Since then, he has lost to Hitchins and then won a welterweight title against a weak champion, Lewis Crocker. Haney’s experience and accomplishments are on a completely different level. Haney is a former undisputed champion. He is also faster and has better technique. I think this will be a wide decision win for Devin Haney.

Right, I don't know why there are some boxing fans that don't give credit to Haney just because he lost a fight with Ryan Garcia. Of course, no boxer is perfect, there are some tops of weakness, like his chin. But in terms of boxing skills and IQ him and his dad could be one of the most underrated partners. His dad really mentor him to be a great boxer and accomplished a lot at an early age. Definitely, as you go along the weight class Haney has some big opponents and win. So in here, yeah, I wouldn't be surprised with a lop sided decision win for him.
