  Mpape should not do a repeat of the mistake that, he did few about three years ago when he left Paris for Madrid and is struggling now to win trophies , which to me has been the deciding factor when it comes to Mpape wining the Ballon Dior especially this season which he was very close to wining. Lack of patience was the main reason why he left PSG to Madrid, and today PSG are back to back winners of the champion's league. I believe that Madrid under Mourinho is having a plan and is in a rebuilding process, so Mpape should not do the mistake of leaving Madrid with the hopes of wining trophies elsewhere because,it doesn't work that way.

Lamine Yamal is the top choice when it comes to Barcelona only, Mbappe really stand a chance winning next year if only Real Madrid can play better meanwhile Lamine Yamal is another strong opponent.
I doubt if Haaland is really in for such challenge, probably he might stand a chance viewing how he performed well during the World Cup although compared to league performance this season, Haaland is not so active this time I guess the season is too early but with such performance I’m not going to include Haaland in the debate, obviously Mbappe and Yamal viewing the odds gives a clear picture.

Among all the favourite candidate to win the ballon D'or, mbappe was the best in terms of quality and goals return, so I was quite surprised that Harry Kane was given the award. Even Yamal that won the world cup and was very instrumental to the team and with Barcelona was ignored for Harry Kane that won only the bundesliga title only, that's why I believe that the award is not transparent.

Mbappe and yamal will be up there competing for the ballon D'or award again next year, but that will depend on the performance of their respective teams this season.

This is a good time to play for Bayern Munich. It was heartwarming to see an English player like Harry Kane winning the Ballon D’or under a German club and when he was in Tottenham the club could not guarantee him a chance to take the trophy simply because his efforts were overshadowed by the inconsistent performance of the club. Bayern made such dream a reality. This season Kane has not score many goals yet with this total goals reading 4 making him the 6th highest goal scorer in Bundesliga this season so far and Olise , his number one fan at the Ballon D’or ceremony is the second in the list with 6 goals in total. Kylian Mbappe at 18% is literally free money. If he puts up performances close to what he did in 2025/2026 season and during the World Cup, then we might just win it. Because if we think about it, Mbappe has been one of the most consistent players in recent years and I think he is overdue for a Ballon d'Or award next sesaon. You are very correct, it is actually still too early to start talking about who would win the next Ballon D’Or, it is barely a week Harry Kane won it so why the rush, mind you Kane have dreamt and hoped of winning the Ballon D’Or for years beyond count, if luck have shined on him this year, it will be better for us to give him a good celebration for his dedication, persistence and achievement, rather than to immediately start talking about next Ballon D’Or, let us take time to celebrate this wining and make it memorable amongst fans so that the beauty of winning the Ballon D’or will be preserved.

This is a good suggestion, I have added the Other option.
As for Rafinha, even if he scores 200 goals, Barcelona will continue to promote Yamal (at least because some of the assists will be on him). Barcelona threw Rafinha into a hole even in the 24-25 season, when he was very good, in favor of Yamal and this will happen again. If Yamal gets injured, then the second choice will be Rodri, Rafinha has no chance of winning any PR award while he plays in Barcelona. Rafinha NO for me is literally like a bank deposit - low profitability but high reliability.

I just feel bad for Raphinha because as long as he is in Barcelona winning the ballon d’Or won’t be easy because of Yamal PR, I still don’t believe that Yamal is going to win the ballon d’Or next year because I don’t see Barcelona winning the champions league or even the La Liga title so it would be very difficult for Yamal to win the ballon d’Or.
Mbappé is a very good player and when it comes to individual performance, he will always stop the table so I believe if Real Madrid can win a trophy he’s going to actually win the ballon next year.

@KTChampions I immediately had your new topic in mind when I saw a reel about Harry Kane. While I agree with many of those who know a thing or two about football and who say that Mbappe is the better player on an individual level, I can see why Kane was a good choice. I said in the 2026 Ballon D'or topic that he was not a wrong choice. He is a very unique striker that, if you ask me, has not existed before like that. His dedication to be a team player, his ability to anticipate when he should go back and help, and the quality to rebuild the match from being a defender himself, to crossing the field into midfield zone and be available there, and then finish the attack himself, is unmatched at the moment. And while he is doing all of that, it is not to the detriment of his own statistics and that is mind-boggling.

The truth is that Kane was incredibly consistent and just for a moment, imagine you are a Bayern player, would you want him on your team last season?

Absolutely, both players differ on multiple levels with their technics and you can also add more names in the list. I was surprised to see Harry Kane taking the previous trophy of Ballon D’or. Maybe I was mistaken with my quick judgement previous that it was unfair. I could verify the numbers again and true that Kane did an incredible season, but I still feel like he wasn’t playing against the same level as others, taking leagues like LaLiga, Premier League and also not having enough teammates to make your succeed in your season is another factor.

Previously, when Messi was taking Ballon D’or multiple times, it was very clear that his team was very helpful, even there was so much uncertainty of how fair some of the trophies were given to him. Overall, many things are changing in football, what we got use to before might change without noticing.

Fair play though you make valid points in both posts. Revisiting it I’d maybe let Kane sneak into 3rd place over Lamine but he still stays behind Mbappe and Messi for me (yes I’m biased, I can't help it).
If we’re basing the award on this year's top goalscorers, international tournament goals have to carry the most weight. In both major tournaments, Kane ended up second best to the same leader. Scoring tons of goals in a domestic league where your team almost averages 4 goals a game just isn't the same, especially when most of the Bundesliga defense is pretty weak.
But hey that's just how I see it following my own standards and how I felt watching these players this year. I understand why you think he deserves it, you raised some important points about him and they are valid. I guess each person just perceives performance differently.

Mbappe obviously my favorite, but he has to win the trophy. It's so sad he had only 28 pts gap to Kane. If he was winning at least one trophy last season, he's winning the D'or not Kane. So he's likely still remain my top favorite, but winning trophy is a must.

However, anything can happen because we have no clue about which trophy that can be winning by Madrid. So far, their up and down performance is quite worrying me, but seeing them able to beat Barcelona.

It raises my optimism if they can win at least one trophy. Let's say if Mbappe can still farm as many golden boots as he can, then he win one or two prestigious trophy. D'or is him.

I pick dembele and raphina for the same reason, what is that assures that they will win or not? I said that in the thread that it is too early to choose a player and even very risky to gamble. Yamal and Mbappe are great players and i acknowledge it but balon dor isnt a trophy that is given to multiple players, it is given to only one player which makes it unavle to be predicted that early

But if i had to keep an eye on someone it would be lamine
