Yeah, relative to their income, the poor spends and gambles more than the rich. If I am expecting  2 million dollar per month and I spare $50k for gambling, that's not so significant because its barely 2.5% of my income. Now compare this to a man whose monthly income is $2k and he stakes with atleast $800 per month. He is spending more relative to his income, so I can say he spends more on gambling. Forget about the figures and focus on the impact a loss will have on the poor and the rich guy, then you'll see the reasons why people say so.

Actually I don't know if there has been any poll on this, so I can't say that the rich gamble more or the poor gamble more. But if it is based on depositing $50k or $100k, then I would say that the poor people will not be able to deposit that much money. Both the rich and the poor gamble. Some poor people gamble in the hope of getting rich and many rich people gamble to get richer. However, gambling should be seen as fun, so there is no point in spending poor people's money for fun.
People in my area are not very rich, but based on my area, I would say that the poor gamble more than the rich.

The rich in general don't have the same mindset as the poor when it comes to gambling, they see the reality that they don't have much chance of winning in the long term, so they just do it for fun.

Exactly that the number of poor people who gamble is much bigger than the number of rich people who do so. On another note more and more poor people are becoming smarter and moving away from gambling after consecutive losing sessions shows them a hard learned lesson that easy money is not what gambling is about. Other than that always the poor people have gone extra steps to fulfill their desire to gamble from taking loans to stealing and doing other nasty shit. He might be financially well-off. Even he might make deposit using borrowed money or by spending beyond their own mean.
Gamblers actual financial condition cannot be determined by looking at their deposit amount.

However, it is true that some high roller wager very large sum of money. So a large portion of total gambling revenue comes from small number of player.
Regardless, I wouldn't say that poor people always gamble more or that rich people always spend more. Exceptions to this also occur in our society.

Without thinking twice I will answer you, both the poor and the rich spend money on casinos, but the difference is often how they spend relative to their income. It's not about who is depositing $100k or above, whether the poor or the rich because having the money to deposit such amount doesn't automatically mean someone is rich, because some bettors gamble with an account of money they can't comfortably afford to, while gamble with only a small portion of their disposable income.

Sure, it is the rich people that makes such huge deposit, do you think a poor man who is looking for money will have up to $50k to $100k and deposit it in a Casino? Hell no! Can we say that those people are something in between the two? I mean yeah with that amount the rich or the middle class can afford but let's not forget that these days with the boom of online casinos many can do with as little as $10 so the deposit isn't an issue. We need to have a data for other things such as number of gamblers, net losses, total wager, total deposits and maybe gambler's income.

It may look like the rich gamble more than the poor, but that’s not completely true.  In my opinion, both parties spend money on casinos and they do it with the hope of making money.  I understand the point you trying to make but it’s not entirely accurate to conclude that the rich gamble more simply because they deposit large amounts.  I can agree with you that the rich folks are more less likely to gamble than the poor, but saying that the rich spend more money on gambling is something I can’t agree with.

Is there even a trusted survey data that establish how true this claim is or it's just a false claim that the poor people are spending more and also gambling more than rich people? I know I have also thought so before but when I did some search, I didn't really find any verifiable evidence but logically I do think that because the poor and middle class people are large in number, then we must have more of them gambling than the number of rich people that gambles. However, I can not tell who spend more money among the two groups (if you put together all the money that rich people have gambled off, it might or might not be higher than the amount that all poor people have gambled off, vice versa). But if it's individually, then you already know that a rich dude will definitely play with much bigger amount than a poor person. It's not rocket science.

You misunderstood it, "gambling more" should mean the number of people gambling compared to the rich people. Yes rich people gamble more money, but the poor people combined probably gamble more than 10 times what the rich people are gambling. You think rich people reached their level because they are not good with money, if you believe they are good with money then you know they just gamble occasionally, but the poor do it consistently.

No one can tell who spends more than because we don't have any data on this information which we can use to know if the poor spends more than the rich. However, the most important thing is that they're gambling with what they can afford to lose. However, the rich man can easily recover back his losses from his business or investment but the poor losses might not be recovered.
