I put my BTC into an estate for friends/family/god daugters and all that..since 2015 have not touched it ..so HODL...

I suppose with AI it will get messed with in some manner someday with my luck and humans being evil hairless primates who like to fight and toss poo

but that is the play

I have no debt enough to get in trouble for monthly income...so no excuse to touch the stuff...indeed getting out of cc debt student loan debt and eventual house

allowed me to be 'bored' enough to have evenings free (unlike most) to do karate at the univ club and dabble in a BTC miner in 2013 to help at the time

micro-lending in India...that and the fact putting the lost gonzo bbs back up a pretty big game server and paying $60 a month seemed not as good.

10/18/13 KNC Jupiter 550gh ($5,131.80 with shipping from Sweden) went online made 1 btc a day. Figured it might last a couple years, seemed interesting and would pay for 'maybe' monthly

bills ...so what the heck...

anyway...my play ..I just HODL ...and should probably sell crap in the attic and buy more via eBay but lazy

As to my vote above, I assume 'briefly' if the stock market were to go down 20% on an AI crash.....then BTC would go down (briefly, I hope) 40%

not a lot of 'adulting' in the world as such....I'm guessing at best a 'deep recession' for real folk no matter where the K shaped economy takes others..if not worse

so manage your debt, get some more btc dust and hunker down.....this lack of adulting in the world and in Govt is gonna bite everyone in the ass I fear

later

Diversification is always the best protection against any sort of financial mischief.  Personally, I am loading up on SpaceX stock (and Tesla).  I think orbital datacenters and chip manufacturing is going to be an extremely high growth area to the point where any recession will only be a buying opportunity.

I also like stocks like JEPI that kick off a lot of income and can be used to accumulate the dips with a DRIP program.

Stacking Bitcoin with a DCA is also a no-brainer.

I think electricity producing companies will also do well in the coming years.  CEG for generation and AEP for transmission are my picks there.  Water will always be necessary (AWK).  People need packaging (AMCR).  Trash will always need to be collected (WM)...

The trick is having cash flow to be able to continue investing.  As long as you can hold onto your livelihood through the recession, it should be viewed as an opportunity.

Well there is definitely an air of financial trouble ahead. The petro dollar system being propped up
by the middle east is taking a hammering ATM, Europe wanting war with Russia and the $40 trillion
US debt etc. is all adding to the mix of potential disaster.

Yea DCA and HODL are good moves and diversification is some way has always been advertised
as a good move but when the $hit hits the fan it will be beneficial to have cold hard small denomination
cash to hand for when the plastic cards just wont work.

I have thankfully manoeuvred myself into a debt free situation with plenty of backup plans in place
besides Bitcoin.

But yea Bitcoin needs to be a very big portion of any long term plan.

I've heard this a lot from those rich folks. They might have some assets, stocks and they're rich on paper.

But most of them say that cash flow is king because if it's not, they'll have to sell those assets and they might be left with nothing.

When the time comes, I'd sell some from my btc stack and will diversify it into those stocks that are paying dividends if possible, quarterly.

I really enjoy how you said you got out of debt and that you've got a bit going for you so there's really no exist to touch what you've got stashed for the future.

That's really solid, cash flow is king.

You're doing something right.

I believe that the reason why you are no tempering with Bitcoin investment is because you have other sources of income. The truth is that it's very hard for someone to consistently hold on to their Bitcoin hodling if the right financial situation is not there. It always good if you diversify your investment, the reason is that Bitcoin is a volatile asset. So its always good to look other way, just as the saying goes don't always put your eggs in one basket.

I was about to say bills, but yeah it looks like everyone must have covered it already, and after that, they have the funds to invest on Bitcoin or diversify their portfolio. It means not all in crypto and not in altcoins as that is not a diversification but gambling itself.

I also got out of debt at the start of the year, 7 credit cards, (yeah that's how me and my wife has been reckless since 2022). But we decided to stop and chance our mentality and focus on investment and just put our money to the education of our two children (2 more years and they are going to finished their colleges).

So it's been a ride with Bitcoin as one way to built our wealth and diversification, (stocks, gold, real state etc.)

Aside from some payables, for which I already have cash set aside, I've got no debts. Didn't take a loan. Didn't borrow money. I've got diversified investments, too, but only small ones.

I believe my cash flow is weak. I've got to build on it more, perhaps look for a more stable job or start a small business. But I'm still stuck with the luxury of being in full control of my time. I might be bidding a sad goodbye to it soon.

From where I am, we might not have a recession strictly speaking, but we do have a growth recession. Inflation is high, GDP growth is continuously falling, local fiat hitting weakest points, and so on and so forth.

On top of that, middle-income earners here are a single hospital bill away from joining the poor. So, if the upcoming recession is only COVID-like, I don't dread it as much as I dread coming face to face with the country's neglected healthcare. If that happens, God forbid, liquidations will have to be done.

post on if we are gonna have a Recession or not within a few years and comment below
Folks like us were born into recession and have lived in it long after that it is almost looking like a normal... it is unfortunate but still a reality we can not deny.

Not a fan of taking up of loans so I've had to leave through it all reducing my expenses when that is the only options i have left and leaving a flexible life since it is almost like a normal in here. doing extra working hour looks like the new normal and if things gets worse, we might just flow with the wind and see where it takes us to. I'm damn sticking with my investment plan while expecting any form of worse case scenario and regardless what happens be it recession or war, life still has to go on.

Everyone knows that there are opportunities with Bitcoin adoption in cryptocurrency, and you should consider this first as your priority before any other investment assets. My suggestion does not mean concentrating your investment only on Bitcoin, but you can also decide to include other assets as part of your strategy. You must be selective in doing so and understand the conditions attached to every investment decision you make.

Talking about recession, the reality is that for anyone to live in such a way that the effect of recession will not impact negatively on him is to diversify. With the current economy that we find ourselves across the world people should look beyond having only one source of income, this is one reason why Diversification should be taken seriously by investors. But people should only diversify into sectors that, they know and understand because one thing is having the financial means to diversify into. Another thing is to manage the business that you are going into.

Good on you, OP. Just make sure you regularly re-test and rethink your thoughts on security, or at least, if there are gnawing doubts, listen to them. I was made to pay recently for being on the side of error rather than caution with some security habits regarding cold wallets. Fortunately, not earlier when I had much more.

To answer: I have... no play. Need to fix a number of things "irl" as they say, before I can strategise with my chess pieces but currently it's a board of checkers all dammed in.

In my case, I plan to invest in Bitcoin for the long term, and I regularly withdraw any profits to fund ventures in the real world. I believe that having multiple real-world businesses and owning property is a better way to diversify than putting everything into cryptocurrencies. After all, there have been instances of hacks involving exchanges and hardware wallets, and there’s also the fact that price appreciation is never guaranteed. It is far better to keep money in a bank, invest in gold and store it in a safe, buy and rent out real estate, build businesses, and simply live your life. That way, even if everything were to go wrong due to a major crisis, you wouldn’t necessarily lose everything you own.

Isn't it contradictory? Investing for long-term should not be touched. In your case, you must only be a short-term investor. Another thing is that, long-term investors are regular buying or doing a DCA with Bitcoin. If in case it is now their time to sell, they will also allocate maybe most of their profits in Bitcoin to start another investing journey with it. To diversify on other types of asset is also great but capital should only be considered on here.

If capital is small, it may be best to just pick one for now to maximize its potential. Setting up our own business must be another story. It is not easy but it can cure boredom and provide quick profits while waiting for our investments to mature. I am not against the banks but you must also be aware of inflation and they are also centralized. So maybe we should only store minimal amounts on them or don't sit all of our money on them for a long time.

I also feel the recession is going to happen in few years to come and we have to prepare for that. Bitcoin is a worthy option but in addition to that and like Ognasty said, diversification is very important now. We should be deliberating on areas of diversification that will not be much impacted by the recession. My areas of interest include things that has to do with basic needs such as real estate, food, energy, and medicine. Any promising stocks or company in these areas should be given top priority.

A recession is inevitably coming to the world in the coming years, primarily due to government policies that are characterized by a lack of governmental responsibility, increasing sovereign debt, geopolitical turmoil, and many other factors.

Of course, diversifying assets and savings, especially Bitcoin, is the ideal solution to face expected financial difficulties, but unfortunately I do not have the flexibility you have in accumulating Bitcoin. I cannot keep all my income in Bitcoin because I have to spend it on the family’s monthly needs.

The trick is having cash flow to be able to continue investing.  As long as you can hold onto your livelihood through the recession, it should be viewed as an opportunity.
Yeah, recession must be considered just another opportunity to buy assets at cheaper whereas gold and bitcoin may peak if recession hit us. AI bubble is slowly bursting in China and USA whereas gold is facing the threats of lab-grown-gold so bitcoin may test new high in-between. Right now DCA with bitcoin and waiting for dips for stocks may be a perfect strategy for facing any recession.

I cannot keep all my income in Bitcoin because I have to spend it on the family’s monthly needs.
Basically you should not keep all your income in bitcoin. Diversify. Allocate for high risk/volatile assets with what you can afford to lose.

I am very much comfortable with your thoughts.
Yeah the cash flows regulates or determines your investment rate and consistency, there are also those that regularly DCA and stacking and holding without panic because they have sufficient (too much) income flows.

Possibly even a 50% of their incomes can still afford their expensive lifestyles and the luxuries or at least an average, comfortable life.
Who are those? They are the rich.

We have come to know about some whalers, they don't seem to run out of cash at all else, they begin sell their Bitcoin and where they don't stacked enough that is to serve for a lifetime and fails to diversify, it is really going to be a fall to bottom somewhere there.
