When life gets tough in your home country, the first thing that comes to your mind is to travel abroad, which is also very natural to want an escape. We see many people around us packing up their lives, searching for a better place and opportunity with these mindset that a new country will give them a fresh start. Meanwhile, you might travel to a country that is even economically worse than your home country, what happens then? Regret? In reality you aren't escaping the heat, you are just jumping from a frying pan to fire.

It is very difficult moving to another country. It is also very expensive, Visas and settling down. Resources that could have been saved or used to build something stable at home. When families spend everything they have just to relocate to another country facing high inflation, lack of job, and poor infrastructure the situation actually gets worse. Instead of finding financial relief, migrant often end up trapped in a deeper poverty, unable to support themselves or send help back to the love ones relying on them.

I'm not saying traveling to another country is a mistake, for people fleeing conflicts, natural disaster or direct danger, traveling to somewhere safe should be your top priority, but when it comes to economic choices, moving out of pure hope without a realistic plan or research usually leads to disappointment and sometimes you get scammed in the process.

I see someone who wants to leave their country for another country for greener pastures as someone who is already doing fine in their country. I know the cost of getting a visa and settling into an apartment in another country. The expenses are high. Only an individual who is making money in his country will be able to afford them.

For those people, going to a better country is a personal decision. The decision is made based on what they want for their life. It could be to improve their finances or for security purposes.

Their reasons are valid. If they can afford it, who cares why they are going there?

Thats why you must search on which country you want to travel too, many people have their reasons for traveling some can travel from an economically advanced country to a country less economically advanced but that country just fits them more, like there are people moving from the US to Japan based on what fits their lifestyle and Occupation.

Only a blind traveller who wants to leave the economical hardship of their country then go to a country that is economically worse, it's either that they were deceived or they made a blind choice.

In addition not everyone who leaves their country to an economically advanced country than theirs makes it, some might get deported back with absolutely nothing.

But I feel traveling out sometime favor many ,going to another country to look for greener pastures is not easy because it requires a whole lot of money ,so the person maybe doing partial good , someone that is struggling cannot afford moving out, processing of visa ,securing of apartment,and getting job is not as easy as we think .

My sister was doing pretty well here in Nigeria,but for some reason,she feels traveling out is better ,with all her struggle,she used it to process her visa and lucky enough she travelled and now she is comparing the both ,life is somehow better there but not really as perfect as she pictured it to be ,from far it seems traveling is the the best but on getting there she realizes is not as easy as we viewed it from here , because of so much taxes to pay, so it's never easy anywhere.

There's is nothing wrong in anyone who chooses to leave home travel for greener pastures like you said if you plan it very well so that you don't end up wasting all the resources that you would have used to make something meaningful for your self and may be grow from there because you aren't even sure about getting the life you think you'll see there. There are people who travelled without proper plans and you see them complaining of the kind of jobs they do but others too who has their life worked out are doing very well.

I have a friend that works Abroad and she keeps saying it has never been easy on her side, while another friend of mine in a different country is having it easy and cool there, so this travelling of a thing works with people differently if you have someone over there who can secure a good job, where you stay till you sort yourself out but for others who just uses the little money they have to travel without plans keeps struggling.

The reason for the high demand for such is that people have being fashioned to think that way especially Africans. They think and feel that having a better life is by them only moving out of their country into the west in order to live the best life they want. Yes, those countries are doing far more better than most African countries when it comes to industrialization and development.

People do not only relocate when things get tough in their home country because things getting tough is normal and a part of life. People start considering relocating when things get tough and the things do not look like they are going to get any better, a loss of hope because the governments are not making any efforts to try and resolve the situation. Many people are not very comfortable with relocating to other countries because that would mean them leaving behind their homeland and people they've always known to relocate to a far land where they understand that settling down can be very difficult, well because they are in need of a better life and understand that to do so and level the playing ground they may have to relocate to another country, they are willing to pass through whatever is necessary for it even if it is fire.

I agree with you on this though because i know how expensive it is to "Japa" and anyone who is planning to leave the country legally and move to another country legally, that person is doing so with enough money at hand, unless the case where you are borrowing the money to travel which is something i can never recommend to anyone regardless of your situation, to avoid spoiling your life even further than the current state of the economy is spoiling your life already and if you have the money to travel, then indeed travel, it really shouldn't concern anyone if someone wants to travel to another country, even if the person has no intentions of returning, i feel it is up to them since it is their money.
And for the jumping into fire, i mean if you are traveling, i think you will spend time researching where you are going to and of course plan accordingly but if it a situation where you just want to leave, no plan, no real destination but you just want to travel out, it is in this situation that someone can unknowingly jump into fire from the frying pan

Even if you have plans, it's not an assurance that you can go and seek a greener pasteur in some other countries. There will still be some unforseen circumstances that you are going to get and it's up to you whether you can manage to get out of that situation or not and chooses to go back home.

I have one in my case, I won't go into details, but I just decided to go back home after a year or two in US and Canada. I don't know but I can't find a decent and regular jobs. And when I depleted my money, then I just decided to go back home and the rest is history. I didn't regret my decision though, I'm just thinking that maybe working abroad is not for me and I should stay close to my family.

Traveling to a country that is better than the country you live in is a dream for most people who are suffering in their country, but unfortunately dreams do not always come true and sometimes the dream is worse than reality.

Here in my country, due to the deteriorating political, economic, and security conditions, many people dreamed of traveling, and many of them actually did travel. First of all there is no place like your home, unless your home turned bitter is when you will want to look for a better place, like I used to tell my friends who want to leave their country for another, you are a total stranger in someone's country.

If you have no place in your homeland you can travel, but make sure that where you are going there is a better future waiting for you over there, make sure it's a place where you will get job easily and all that, there are still some people getting lucky with travelling.

The reality will not the same as your imagination so you need to make sure if you can survive and earn better than in your country. Migrating is a tough decision, working with restriction and then you'll get to have some requirements to fulfill before you become PR.

And before deciding in fleeing from your country, you'll have to sacrifice a lot. In almost every country, there is a chaos and they're not perfect. We have to embrace the imperfection that they have but economically, we can decide for the betterment of our lives.

What I see with people who move from their country to another is all about saving more. If they can live the same lifestyle they have to another one compared to their home, they'll move without hesitation.

They don't mind if it's no longer the home they used to have but it's all about surviving longer and enjoying what they have worked hard and live life to the fullest.

There is a need for planning and arrangements before making such life-changing decision, especially with moving to another country. Before moving to a new country, one should have made sure of a clear job opportunity, accommodation and every other information regarding the safety and rights of citizens in that country. There are many occasions where people regret their decision after moving, maybe because of pressure from home country or misguided information on how things operate in the away country.

I agree that relocate to other country without thorough research or less preparation oftenly ends up with fail and just drag family to new poverty traps or scams. Many reported case many practice migration like gambling, using loan to move and ends up falling into a deeper abyss. However, the phenomenon that is emerging in my country, many people see freedom as prerequisite for economic activity. People cannot be productive and enjoy the fruits of their economic efforts with peaceful mind if their fundamental rights are constrained. So pure homo economicus perspective which only focuses on calculating inflation rates, nominal wages, or the cost of living becoming less relevant today, even if it remains rational.

For me myself cost benefit considerations remain dominant, but for other, I see shifting on profit being sought, from the accumulation of financial capital to the accumulation of capital in the form of freedom and a sense of security. For a migrant, non material assets has greater value, such as freedom from social persecution, freedomfor express who they are, guarantees of fair legal treatment, or simply the ability to break free from restrictive family or cultural structures in one’s home country. Many people assume personal autonomy and freedom are considered fundamental assets for creating new opportunities.

Today generation see individual freedom, psychological security, and the dignity of life as core values. Keep living in toxic country considered as existensial lost then moving aboard with downward mobility considered a rational action taken to uphold the value of that freedom. Simply said being poor in a country that grants individual freedom is far more bearable.

The worse is when an agent scam you and you have already sold your valuables and assets. Some people actually get desperate to travel out and they don't verify certain information before they push out money. There are some agents that will paint up certain situations over there so that you can send money to them and as soon as you do that, you begin to hear different stories. Some people manage to get there but the conditions of living and work are not same as they were told before they made the move. Actually, there are just few countries you can travel to that you can see positive difference compared to numerous countries that people travel to because they just want to escape living in their country for certain reasons.

It is not to be discouraged though but at the same time, there shouldn't be haste about it, someone who wants to travel should do background check on the work and condition of living etc. Language and weather are another point thing to consider. I have seen a Nigerian man who couldn't stay in extreme cold country. He ran back for that reason and wasted his money.

People move for different reasons, some move due to lack of infrastructure, some move in search of opportunities, some move to advance their learning while others just move because others are moving. If you're moving abroad with a plan, that's okay but when you're moving without a plan you can get overwhelmed with what you'll find abroad especially the difference in government policies as a migrant. You'll find out that you have to work really hard to blend into the society you've found yourself. Some countries are too strict on migrants and leave just a slim chance for them even after integration. Please before you sell that property to flee your country, check what that resource can fetch you in your own country because moving abroad is expensive and in the end you might still get denied.

One thing I believe is the fact that, anybody that packs up his bag and decides to travel out for greener pastures, especially this period That visas are very expensive, that person was never poor in his or her country, the poor in those countries don't have financial muscle to go through the rigorous processes of visa processing and financial obligations it comes with, so take it from me that they are literally those persons that are in the middle class or above the middle class that usually find it easy to Cross to another country, maybe except your an illegal immigrant.

And in any case they find it difficult to survive in the new country they've migrated to, it is highly possible that they can still come back to their home country and live a normal life, they won't start from the scratch because they already know their way around.
