The end of Starlink

A few days ago, something almost invisible happened, and most people did not notice.  Then when damage was done and fingers were pointed, no one thought to investigate the real reason.

Between the 15th and the 19th, a Russian military satellite stalked a high rez spy satellite over Ukraine, coming as close as 500 meters.  It moved in front and behind of the spy sat for a few days before drifting away.  Even though that satellite was not Star Link, Elon still throttled the service a few days later.  Why?  

The message was crystal clear - we can destroy your infrastructure and we will if you keep providing our enemy support.

From Dec 2025 to May 2026 Starlink performed over 200,000 emergency actions.  Each sat currently needs to dodge about 40 times a year, or a thousand dodges a day.   And competition will make it so crowded Starlink will fail by 2028.   But so will every other company in orbit, and we will lose all use of our orbit forever.

What did youyou mean as we will lose all use of our orbit forever? In a way that a phenomenon will occur in a way out orbit will become something else? I was think you meant that Russia will send something to the orbit to bomb Starlink satellites and which will pollute the orbit.

Something orbiting the earth may fall back to the earth later, or leave earth permanently but some can remain orbiting the earth. If some thing like such war happened, we do not know how the orbit will react to it.

But I think Ukraine may let the war end soon, we do not know yet but I wish the war to end soon.

As for Starlink I think it will continue to exist after 2028.

Yes - something named the Kessler syndrome.  

Satellites orbit at km/s at the same altitude and different directions.    All it will take is one collision in a busy orbit to send millions of shards outward to make more collisions.  Once it starts (some say it already has) we have a very limited time to do something before anything reaching LEO will be shredded instantly.  

No more weather forecasting, space exploration, GPS, etc.  Experts say failure within 50 years, but they did not take growth or kinetic actions into account.
