I saw a facebook post this morning about the preparation of different countries. Every government is saying that "There is no immediate threat, don't panic" but at the same time, they are telling their citizens to stockpile food and emergencies supplies.

why did 18 governments just tell their citizens to stockpile emergency supplies at the exact same time?

It's just your own suspicion, not because the government is warning us in preparing to stock some supplies doesn't mean they are preparing for a war. Let us not be paranoid about that, it's just normal for the government to warn people and I think it has already happened in the past.

If it's a world war anyway, we might all die, so what's the use. I will not think about that anymore, I would not overthink it, just try to find out what they are telling people to prepare rather than assume it's a possible war.

They're preparing for the annual or predicted natural disaster like the Nankai Trough earthquake, tsunami, and so on. What is going on in the past months that's looking like there will be war? This is legit in Japan, they're preparing for the possible natural disaster to come. And for the other countries, I think they're mostly preparing if the tension there worsens. If people are not used to preparing, they're going to panic. But if you're the type of person that usually buy more extra when you buy groceries, you have nothing to fear about. It's a norm when people buy more stocks and I think it's just amplified because this is announced.

Well we can't know for certain until the time comes. and besides I get why you're worried all the countries mentioned are all major countries in the world. And it's easy to say it's not a world war because they are only saying their citizens should stockpile a lot of food, not evacuate the area. Still it's worth taking into consideration for folks who are living in those countries.​That said the three possible issues that came up were war, extreme weather, and cybersecurity threats. But if you come to think about it, there have been cases of severe cybersecurity threats lately, like AI and hackers and so on. Perhaps we should watch and see the possibility and the outcome right now isn't really certain to the general public so yeah that's all....

I have also recently received similar information, and this obviously worries me quite a lot, especially since the targeted devices are submarine cables where the threat is to cut off the internet and electricity supply in various countries. I don't know who is trying to make the world so scary but what is clear is that the call from the government to the public to prepare for the first 72 hours with a supply of food, drink, clothing has been disseminated.

I do not think this is about war because who and who is going to declare war on themselves. US/Isreal and Iran fight was almost made public by treats and warning before agreements were not reached. So warning people living in a country to take more actions to their lives and well being could be for natural occurrences like disaster because the seasons are changing from what they are known with since the ozone layer depletion.

But I wonder why African countries are not included in warning there people or is it that they are not capable of "fighting wars"   or that they don't have the technology to be able to detect future environmental harm to their country?

  Yeah I saw those posts too. Every government is out here saying “no immediate threat, don’t panic” while quietly telling people to stockpile food and emergency supplies. You can’t really have it both ways like that.

If there’s truly nothing to worry about, why the sudden push for people to prepare? And if preparation is needed, then just say it straight instead of trying to calm everyone down at the same time. Mixed messages like this just make people more uneasy.

The only thing that looks like a warning in most Africa countries is the expected El Nino that is said to be on the way any moment from now which is a situation of intense heat. this i guess is still not peculiar to only African countries but considering that most our African countries wether is relatively hot, it is not doubt that the news is taken serious in our end.

As for the assumption of this being a preparation for a world war, it doesn't had up to even start with because what is the probability that a world war will last just a few days or month? lets stop commonizing the world war as though it is one simple things like that.

In our country today there is not only the threat of war but also alert to earthquakes and tsunamis of great magnitude. I've even learned to prepare an emergency bag, my region of the country is quite vulnerable. I do not know what the country above is doing to the point of having to give early warning to its citizens. But if the scale looks serious, it means that a threat has already been detected. Especially the Iran conflict is heating up and the impact is being felt across the state, maybe this initial escalation should be taken seriously even though we don't expect it to happen but at least we have prepared for the unexpected.

Normally any government will not show their weakness; often they try to convince their citizens that the situation is normal and doesn’t matter, whether it's war or disaster. Advise regarding stockpiles and emergency supplies doesn’t mean we are near another world war. There might be some other issues as well.

I have been observing situations, and I don’t think we will see another world war. But keeping emergency supplies and stockpiles would be better for any emergency situation. We have to take a lesson from the last Covid situation: how people suffer. Take it easy.

We live in an increasingly fragile "just in time" society and that also means immediate shortages if anything in the long supply line breaks, if you are dependent on going to the grocery store every few days for your daily food, live paycheck to paycheck, any disruption your in big trouble.. But don't we think transparency will actually reduce the panic? I think it's more appropriate to inform the citizens about the situation on ground.

I know it's government job to protect their citizens and keep them calm but there is nothing wrong informing them on what's coming ahead. Recently, the world experienced a cyberattack caused by vulnerabilities in PHP. There have been several others that disrupted the supply chain of several essential services. AI-powered hacking tools are becoming smarter, and we could experience more of these attacks. There is a need for everyone to be prepared for the unknown.

The Russia-Ukraine war is also increasingly feared among European nations. There have been attacks suspected to be from Russia on some European countries. They need to prepare in case the situation escalates.

I don't think we need to be scared, because the world has always been gripped by threats that require us to have backups.

When I see this kind of news and post, I conclude that we are our own problem. These Facebook place for example is a big mess, its unreliable place for news, it's the only place where people post AI videos and people think it's real. Even the comments sections is full of delusional people, it's the least place I want to see myself.

There is no war coming anywhere. It seems that people forget that the things we are going to lose if we go to war will take another 100 years before we see this Kinf of civilization again. Nothing is going to happen, the people in power has more to lose than the people they are threatening.

I believe the intention may not be to make people uncertain or panic or to instill fear, but rather to get them into a mindset where they are prepared for any natural disaster or any event that cuts them off from immediate support.

I feel this action by the government will make people not panic as they would in the case of an emergency situation where they are away from access to food and other basic necessities for a while until rescue can come.

Yeah I think this is also a major reason why some countries will announce a 72 hours stone pile for emergencies like this, but another reason can be the growing tension withing regional areas in Europe can also be the reason for the new policies at it will help in cases of blockades or road cut offs. And I also think all this was part fo the European Union guidelines or something, so no need to fear and just be cautious.
