Yes in concept, Bitcoin can be invested like fiat currency but the risk profile, source of return and investment dynamics are different.

Bitcoin is decentralized digital currency or asset that can be bought and sold in exchange platforms and stored in crypto wallets. It runs on blockchain technology. Bitcoin is a volatile asset, so the value rises and falls according to demand and supply, investors speculations. While fiat currency is a government controlled currency used as a means of exchange.
Before you think of investment. You need to first buy Bitcoin or any other crypto currency, store it in your crypto wallet just like you you save fiat currency before investing. This means that you need to have Bitcoin stored in your wallet before considering investing it for returns.
After acquiring Bitcoin, you will seek knowledge on which exchange platform to buy from, which wallet to use, the risks involved and maybe government regulations around crypto in your locality.

HOW TO INVEST IN BITCOIN
You can buy and hold Bitcoin directly from exchange platforms such as Binance, coinbase, Kraken. Locally, we have Luno and Yellow Card. You buy when the market is bearish, hold for sometime and sell when the market is bullish
Bitcoin ETF/ Funds: In exchange-traded funds, you can invest in Bitcoin using the traditional stock market without your direct involvement. That means you can buy it as shares through a brokerage account.
Crypto Derivatives/trading: As lucrative as it can be, it is highly risky and it is suited for experienced traders. Here you deal with futures, options and leverages. Your greed control is your key to success here.
Note that since Bitcoin is capped at 21 million coins, your returns come purely from price changes influenced by demand and supply, Bitcoin adoption, government regulations, market speculations.
RISKS TO CONSIDER
Market volatility
Scams
Custody
Regulations.
Finally, given all the risks, invest only what you can afford to lose, use  reputable exchange platforms and wallets and keep your private keys secure by all means necessary and you may have a good experience with Bitcoin investment. If you compromise the custody of private keys, you will lose your investment in a flash.

I was a bit confused for a second here but I think your topic should have a preferred heading like "Can bitcoin serve as an investment means like fiat currency", this should be more direct. This is because it should be clear if you're investing in bitcoin or using bitcoin to invest in other assets.

Finally, given all the risks, invest only what you can afford to lose, use  reputable exchange platforms and wallets and keep your private keys secure by all means necessary and you may have a good experience with Bitcoin investment. If you compromise the custody of private keys, you will lose your investment in a flash.
It is important to always stress the issue of wallet security to new investors, keeping seed phrase and private keys in a safe place against cases of theft of hack. Using a cold wallet could also be considered to save your keys offline, that would be more secured compared to DEX exchange where the exchange holds your keys.

Do people “invest in fiat”?

The last time I checked, people don’t invest in fiat they only keep it for short-term savings or daily transactions.

~
Bitcoin is decentralized digital currency or asset that can be bought and sold in exchange platforms and stored in crypto wallets. It runs on blockchain technology.

Bitcoin isn’t only bought or sold on exchanges. You can buy it from a peer or other P2P platforms.

~

This isn’t “how to invest in bitcoin”.

You can buy bitcoin at anytime so far you’ve already planned to invest and you should better hold bitcoin for long-term rather than chasing bear or bull market as a short-term trader if you want to have a good investment.

I don't know where you copied this idea from but I can see some advice that are too risky for someone new to Bitcoin with the intention to buy and hold.
First of all, buying Bitcoin from Luno is a no for me because you are not going to get any Bitcoin from that scam exchange.  I first came in contact with Luno in 2021 through a friend and all of us that bought Bitcoin from that Luno exchange never got our Bitcoin till this moment. Luno is a scam exchange and advising people to use Luno will lead to them getting scammed unfortunately.

We don't have any ETF company in Nigeria and advising people to buy Bitcoin through this company is a total no. How are you going to advise people to buy ETF when you have not done that before.

The moment you use an exchange to buy your bitcoin, you are expected to move it to your personal wallet, which is a non-custodial wallet for safety, and hold it there; then you are also expected to maintain high security standards and avoid any form of carelessness that could put your assets at risk.

This is why we mostly advise newbies to go through the security measures expected of them and also maintain privacy, learning is what they cannot also avoid doing because this is what keeps you moving ahead of others and servers you first protection you could give to yourself by being always updated of the information that are happening concerning crypto.

That you are also a member of this forum is another great asset to you; take advantage of the opportunity to learn more from experienced members and build up your own competence in cryptocurrency.

You shouldn't store your bitcoin in an exchange because they will be in full control of your coins and can do whatever, they want with it. You are to use a self custody wallet to be in full control of your bitcoin. However, it seems to me that you are more after short term investment which isn't a good way to go about with your bitcoin investment since, the price increases overtime. It's good that you buy and hodli for more than a circle instead, of sounding like a trader.

OP, you should read more than posting to gain more knowledge.

Investing in Bitcoin simply means buying and holding it so it is somehow different from how imvestmemts are made in fiat because no one holds fiat private and get rewarded, rather inflation will even cause the value of the money to deteriorate.

This is not the right way to invest in Bitcoin. You can buy from any of the listed exchanges but you should never keep the coins there but withdraw them to a wallet where only you control the private keys. There is a popular phrase in this forum and that is "not your keys, not your coins" and this simply means that if you keep your coins where you don't control the keys, you can lose ownership of them.

Finally, Bitcoin is better when held for a long time and not sell when you see some profits. Youu have to correct that mindset in your investing if you want to benefit more from Bitcoin.

Newbies will just think that once they have the idea of how to buy from centralized exchanges as they were told and send to non custidial wallets that’s all they need to do, they don’t realize that the invest come with responsibility. They need to learn and understand that their wallet is their response to maintain, they will have to learn how to keep their seed phrase safe  to protect their investment.

The newbies can take advantage of this forum to learn because we share information here, many people discuss these basic things here daily and there are threads that you can gain enough information from.
learnmeabitcoin.com is also a place to learn easily for better understanding.

Fiats are money, Bitcoin is money so anything you can use fiats for, you can also make use of Bitcoin for that same thng. The difference is the type of money they're. One gives you profits for just hodling while the other, you lose money when you hold because of inflation. You can use both form of money and invest in anything you want and for all investment, you need to invest what you can afford to lose as this isn't only applicable to Bitcoin investments. Fiat currency are also digital nowadays so there isn't any limitations to how yiu can used them for investing. Basically anything that you can buy with Bitcoin, you can also do with fiats currency. Investment shouldn't be made based on which form of money you can use to enter the investment but your decision should be made based on how good that investment can be after all due diligence. Just by looking at all the risk factors, hodlimg Bitcoin is a better investment then anything out there.

Rather than saying invest what you can afford to loose,  i will say invest the amount you wouldn't be needing soon, and that is because with investment,  all you may be needing will be that patience in the long term and you can be sure to make profits on any amount you invested,  if you don't have that patience or discipline to be patient, you may possibly stand a chance to suffer losses as the case may be.
It's only in trading i will go with you putting that which you are sure you can afford to loose and that is because of the volatility you get to experience daily  trading.

So,  if you wan invest for Bitcoin,  do am well, dem say anything wey you know say you wan do, make you do am well, Bitcoin wey me i know,  dey later put profit for person, na only when e be say you wan dey on trading naim e go mean say make you risk small money wey you no go too reason if e enter voice mail.

I don't think bitcoin will ever become like fiat currency. Because fiat currency is different from bitcoin in many ways. And OP, I want to give a different opinion on some of the things you said. Especially after keeping it in a bitcoin wallet, you don't have to think about investing, rather buying bitcoin, keeping it in the wallet and holding it for the long term is a type of investment. And buying bitcoin at a low price and selling it in a bull market is short-term trading or trading depending on price movement which is very risky. We should consider bitcoin according to its own characteristics. There is no need to combine fiat currency or any other assets which are different from bitcoin.

And if someone new wants to invest, after knowing the basic things, they should invest according to a long-term mindset. Increase bitcoin accumulation by doing proper fund management so that we can get financial security from the inflation of fiat currency in the future.
