⛏️ Independent Native PoW and AuxPoW Mining
Both native Scrypt PoW and AuxPoW miners can compete to mine every block. There is no forced alternation or waiting period.

Each mining type has a separate ASERT difficulty target designed for roughly one block every 10 minutes when participation is steady. A rolling 1,000-block balancing adjustment increases the difficulty of whichever type has mined more of the recent blocks and reduces it for the underrepresented type. With both types active, the combined aim is a five-minute average and approximately 50/50 over time, not a mandatory quota.

If a merge-mining pool goes offline, native miners can continue mining without waiting for a timeout. Likewise, AuxPoW miners can keep mining when native miners are unavailable. Every block still needs a valid proof of work.

📈 ASERT Difficulty Adjustment
FloofyChain uses separate anchored ASERT-style difficulty calculations for native PoW and AuxPoW:

5-minute combined block target when both mining types have stable participation.
10-minute average target per mining type (600 seconds).
Independent histories: difficulty uses the previous accepted blocks of its own type, including runs of consecutive blocks.
1-hour half-life: difficulty adjusts gradually as block production runs ahead of or behind schedule.
Common starting anchor: both difficulty calculations start from block 244,999.
After every accepted block, each mining type's next target is recalculated using its own ASERT history and the preceding 1,000 accepted blocks. The balancing history starts at block 245,000 and grows gradually until full; it then slides forward one block at a time. When the last 1,000 blocks are evenly split, the balancing factor is neutral. At its maximum, a lane's additional adjustment ranges from half to twice its ASERT target. The block-count balancing step never uses candidate timestamps. Accepted historical timestamps still inform ASERT.

🔐 Strict AuxPoW Validation
AuxPoW blocks must provide a valid merged-mining commitment and parent proof of work. The new consensus verifies the AuxPoW structure, chain ID, and required difficulty instead of relying on the historical compatibility shortcut.

The new mining rules activate together at mainnet block 245,000.

Blocks through 244,999 retain their historical rules. Block 244,999 anchors both new difficulty histories. Nodes and mining pools need compatible software for the consensus transition.

A height-based upgrade cannot change difficulty or unblock mining below its activation height.

🎉 Mining Rewards
FloofyChain rewards miners through block subsidies and transaction fees, with scheduled multiplier events during selected block ranges.

Reward multiplier events are scheduled at 20,000-block intervals.
Regular event windows last approximately 5,000 blocks.
Community involvement in future multiplier events is part of the project roadmap.
The mining consensus fork at block 245,000 is separate from the roadmap's community-voting milestone associated with block 500,000.

Following major improvements to our mining consensus, FloofyChain now has a unified difficulty adjustment system that allows native PoW and AuxPoW miners to compete freely while supporting smaller miners.

⛏️ Unified PoW & AuxPoW Mining

FloofyChain V4 introduces an improved mining system where both native Scrypt miners and AuxPoW merge miners compete to discover every block.

There is no forced alternation, no waiting period and no guaranteed 50/50 distribution.

Both mining methods remain eligible for consecutive blocks.

The network uses one shared ASERT difficulty calculation, which responds to the overall speed of block production.

When blocks are discovered faster than the five-minute target, difficulty increases. When blocks are produced more slowly, difficulty decreases.

The goal is to maintain an average of approximately five minutes per block across the entire blockchain.

⚖️ Intelligent Mining Balance

One of the biggest improvements in V4 is our automatic mining balancing system.

FloofyChain monitors the previous 1,000 accepted blocks to determine which mining method is dominating.

If AuxPoW pools discover most of the blocks, the network makes native PoW slightly easier and AuxPoW harder.

If native PoW dominates, the adjustment works in the opposite direction.

The purpose is not to make small miners equal to massive mining pools. It is simply to give them a better opportunity to discover blocks!

For example, a native PoW pool running at 1 GH/s can still compete against an AuxPoW pool operating at 1 TH/s.

The larger pool retains its substantial hashrate advantage, but the smaller miner receives some assistance rather than being completely overlooked.

Balancing adjustments are capped to prevent extreme difficulty differences.

📈 Shared ASERT Difficulty

FloofyChain uses a shared, anchored ASERT-style difficulty adjustment algorithm.

Its main features include:

• Five-minute average block target.

• One shared difficulty calculation for both mining methods.

• One-hour adjustment half-life.

• Difficulty recalculation after every accepted block.

• Automatic response to changing network hashrate.

• Independent PoW/AuxPoW balancing applied to the shared difficulty.

The rolling balance uses accepted historical blocks rather than forcing mining methods to alternate.

Every block must still satisfy its required proof-of-work difficulty.

🔐 Stronger AuxPoW Validation

V4 introduces stricter AuxPoW validation to ensure merge-mined blocks meet the required consensus rules.

The blockchain checks the parent proof of work, merged-mining commitment, chain identification and required difficulty before accepting a block.

These upgrades retain FloofyChain's existing genesis block and historical chain rules while introducing the new mining system at their respective activation heights.

🌐 New V4 Network

FloofyChain V4 uses updated network identification bytes to separate upgraded nodes from incompatible older clients.

Old nodes may continue mining on their previous network, but they cannot communicate normally with V4 peers.

All users, miners and pool operators must upgrade to compatible V4 software to participate in the new mainnet.

Wallet users migrating from the old network should back up their wallet.dat and configuration files, remove or move aside old blockchain data, and synchronise again using upgraded V4 nodes.

Never delete wallet.dat or your wallet backups!

🎉 Mining Rewards & Multiplier Events

FloofyChain continues to reward miners through block subsidies and transaction fees.

Our reward system includes scheduled multiplier events designed to add excitement and additional mining opportunities.

• Reward multiplier events at scheduled 20,000-block intervals.

• Regular multiplier windows lasting approximately 5,000 blocks.

• Continuous block rewards with no fixed maximum supply.

• Future community involvement in reward events and project development.

Our roadmap also includes the community-voting milestone associated with block 500,000.

🔥 Voluntary FLOOF Burning

FloofyChain allows holders to permanently remove FLOOF from circulation using provably unspendable OP_RETURN transactions.

The Qt wallet includes a dedicated Burn page and a Verified Burn Leaderboard.

Features include:

• Minimum burn of 1,000 FLOOF.

• Optional burn messages.

• Signed address attribution.

• All-time, 30-day and 7-day leaderboards.

• Verified transaction information.

• Network-wide burn statistics.

• Automatic leaderboard refresh.

Burning is entirely voluntary, and burned FLOOF cannot be recovered.
