Everyone blames government, government should do this and that, but you haven't access yourself, but you constantly shift blames, no one wants to take full responsibility of their choices and actions anymore. Misplaced priority, it is so unfortunate seeing the mindset of this generation, you can already tell their end from their beginning. Same country, same economy, people work and earn good and sufficient amounts from repairing a phone. Another is sleeping the whole day. Blaming the government for not providing him a job. "No job" but some girls are making cool cash from braiding, lash extension,  sewing, fixing nails and doing makeup. While some are busy shouting that they are orphans and don't have anyone to support them, but there are several posts on Facebook encouraging people to "come and learn a skill for free" and you are seeing it but don't want to take advantage of the opportunity, because of laziness and procrastinating. Some will say it's a waste of time and energy, but you will enter a friends DM who is a hairstylist to beg for urgent cash, isn't that disturbing? When they turn you down, you start blaming and holding the government accountable for your misfortune, like my country, give a Nigerian youth some cash prize today, the first thing that comes to his mind is getting the lastest iPhone, data and shawarma, this is all that matters to him, and not to think of how to set up a business in other to multiple that money. Tomorrow he goes online accusing the government, but our parents had no government help, they didn't wait for the government to spoon-feed them. The youth of this generation are demanding too much from the government And majority of these things are simple things you can handle. We are in the digital world, filled with so many online opportunities like affiliate marketing, content creation, mini importation, selling of digital assets and many more. But this generation wants quick money without having to labor for it. You can't eat your cake and still have it. Government is bad yes, but laziness is worse. Stop casting blames and start working, you too can contribute to the betterment of the economy and society at large.

Just like every other country, Nigerian youths are doing their best to achieve success without relying on the government especially now that you can make easy money on social media, if you do your findings properly you will see that there are graduates without jobs and everyone mustn't learn a skill. I think that Nigeria youths are the type of people that endure hardship and strive to survive by themselves without waiting for the government. Before reading the body of the message, I first of, disagree with your topic because you generalized it, not every poverty is actually caused by laziness. Also, it's not everyone that is blaming the government, from your statement, you said everyone but that's not true. You probably are talking about some category of people who likes to blame their misfortune on someone else but mind you, everyone is not like that, not everyone is relying on the government. Some people are poor not because they didn't try all their best to make things work but they must have just been getting hit by bad luck and also some bad economic factors that the government caused.

Work-oriented education encourages the people of a country to work, and the government must work for that. Again, due to the geographical location of your country, there may be no production in the country, in which case there will be a lot of shortage in the country and this shortage can also cause poverty. You have a point but how do you explain the situation of those that are doing their best and are still struggling? Do you realize that there are countries where the system doesn't work? The system wasn't designed to favour the masses or common man, only the elites and corrupt politicians have control over everything and they fail to make jobs available for the citizens of that country, I'm sure you familiar with the system of government of a lot of African countries.


I agree that there are people that are lazy, even if they had better systems of government they would not put in any effort to make their life better. Many people blaming the government are just excuses, but not the real reality.

If there is no inflation, the situation most people are, they will still be there. Not all countries can be as good as some countries that their citizens are enjoying their government than others countries.

But the governments have their part to play. Inflation should be very minimal and should be almost unnoticeable, but they are not like that. They make inflation high and make the economy bad for the citizens. High inflation will be followed by higher poverty rate. So the governments have to also be blamed.

Few years ago the skills well done by sets of people their main focus was to go and learn skills and use them as a way earn money to leave a financially stable life, some others went to school got degree and get jobs

But now for those who go to school there are no jobs, everybody must not learn a skill some have to desire to become pilot, engineers etc but there are no jobs, to avoid the risk of not being able to be financially balance regardless of your dreams people have been forced to learn skills on top of the already exhausting education they are chasing just to be on the safer side.

This is not entirely correct, Laziness is one of the causes of poverty and not a sole cause. While it is true that quite a number of youths are lazy and not willing to put in the necessary work or learn the necessary skills needed to grow out of their predicament, you have to know that the government has an even bigger role to play in poverty alleviation.

The government has to ensure that the necessary basic amenities must be met, factors such as taxes and utilities should be considered so that it doesn't exceed or encroach deeply into the minimum wage and expenditures of its citizens.

You claim laziness is fully to blame but there are people working hard day and night but they can't break out of barely surviving, the so-called nail technicians and hair stylist you think are doing well, you may actually find out are barely surviving not because they may not be making enough but after a day of hard work when they've deducted transportation cost, light bills, grocery etc they end up having little or nothing left because of so-called Inflation ( government problem ). I totally agree that laziness is the major cause of poverty, because you can't be lazy and expect to have money or to be rich, but I also think that some government is also a major cause to poverty in the society.  Some government don't give the citizens a platform to even thrive, because they are corrupt and don't really care about the well being of the citizens.  There are a lot of people that are poor not because they are lazy, but the government did not create a society that can enable them to do better in life. I understand that it is not all the Youths that wait for government to provide for them but I still would blame government in this matter. The government has the responsibility to provide amenities that will help people to get access to better life and job is part of it. The social contract theory states that people have given their rights up for government for certain benefits and protection. Truly the youth aren't lazy at all because over the years I see a lot of people (youths) engaging themselves into different kind of skills and jobs, but I believe no matter how hard the youth struggles there may well be some people (youth) that will be lazy but if there are people like that I think they are very few. But that's by the way, and yeah the rate of  insecurity is high, If the government could help in reducing that or eliminate it completely I believe the youth can survive without relying on the government.

Because this rate of insecurity has made things difficult for some people as they are afraid of going to some certain places, because they might probably got kidnapped or killed.

Not always. The government should be helping to foster an environment where businesses can prosper and grow, but there are plenty of countries out there where politicians are more interested in how they can enrich their close circle rather than the millions of people they should be serving. We see it more than ever that politicians are trying to foment anger and divide people, because it distracts from the real problems which can take a long time to fix. It's true there are some lazy people out there who will have a tough time and can be stuck in poverty because of their work ethic, but there are lots of people who will struggle to rise out of poverty even if they are clever or working 12 hour days. I knew this all along. My life isn't dependent on the government but, we have to put them account for the lives of people because with their support citizens can have a better life too.

Yet, if the support is there and these citizens don't want to work for themselves you'd see it with how they live. Hard working people with helpful government is the most desired type of society.
