Bitcoin - popular, market share
Alts: Darkcoin - Darksend, nice obfuscation feature (still in public beta) Anoncoin - Supposedly implementing Zerocoin, we shall see... Bytecoin (BCN) - I might put a shekel or two in a Bytecoin clone since CryptoNote, supposedly Bytecoin has an unfair distribution.
Always good to have more than one horse in the race, the competition is getting good.
Well, as far as I know Bytecoin is not a clone, it's a completely new project. There are even a FAQ about its "supposed" roots: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=557322.0Also, it was "out there in the deep web" for the 2(!) years and someone counted 2k active (or smth) users so about what unfairness are you talking? On topic: I keep it simple: Litecoin, DOGEz and relatively new Darkcoin.

A month ago I would have said I had a lot invested in mint. However, since the price of bitcoin and mint have both dropped my investment is not worth much money. I think it's currently about $30 and about a month ago it must have been $150+
I'm in it for the long run, but it's a bit depressing thinking I had a fair bit of money invested in something that's worth about 5 times less than it was. I suppose almost everyone is in the same boat at the moment.

On topic: I keep it simple: Litecoin, DOGEz and relatively new Darkcoin. Read more about bytecoin and you'd see all its odds in compare with other altcoins and even bitcoin. Bytecoin is a revolutionary new cryptocurrency. It is CPU-only which is a big advanced feature in decision to mine it. Furthermore, the developers used ring signature and one-time addresses to make payments anonymous and unlinkable. So, the main advantage of bytecoin is that one-time address is a default option for sending/receiving payments and, that's why, you don't have to enable anything manually, the total anonymity is already provided.

I use Bytecoin and Darkcoin
Both are completely anonymous.
But I prefer bytecoin. There is rumors that Satoshi is one of its devs. I believe it's a true cause it is based on cryptonote technology called ''technology for the cryptocurrencies of the future''

the title says "altcoins" but everyone keeps listing BTC lol.
Hard to say, I'm in a lot of them. I guess doge, mint, and ruby are the three I have the most in at the moment.

It's really interesting to see peoples' responses; many of these are coins I have heard next to nothing about, or have not heard about it ages and didn't know anyone was still holding them or gave a damn about them. There are a LOT of altcoins out there I suppose... and growing every day. Way too many of them, I fear.
