Unfortunately, true classic sports betting doesn't exist in a decentralized form like Polymarket... Basically, we need to wait until progress catches up in this area, and we'll have decentralized sports betting and decentralized casinos without KYC.

I think you're mixing up two things here. No-KYC betting and decentralized betting aren't really the same.
There are already crypto sportsbooks like sportbet.one where you can bet without the usual upfront ID checks. But that doesn't make them decentralized. You're still trusting the site to handle your bets and payouts.
So yeah, the no-KYC part isn't exactly new. Fully decentralized sports betting is a different story.

The agitation has been on ground for some times that casinos which will request gamblers KYC shall do that at the registration time and not when they allow the gambler to deposit and play but when it is time to withdraw, gbam, KYC requested that is a very bad attitude. And I was said yesterday, casinos have no right to know the source of a gamble's income become allowing him to withdraw his winning from the casino unless they looking something else.

@Agbe they may have the right to know actually,,, if their license requires them Smiley

Correct.

In fact, there is even such a thing as decentralized KYC or rather, trustless KYC and that idea is being explored by some companies already (no central party keeps your identity or even knows your data),,, but a lot of things can live independently of each other.

Yeah the funny thing is, they are ready to accept the crypto deposits and permitting those cryptos to place bet but when it is about withdrawing, they start asking explanation and proof on source of those cryptos, really really a bad attitude. They cannot run a casino business if they require KYC to register or to deposit. So for survival reasons, they allow depositing and betting but tightens their regulation while withdrawing but we can assume that this also for same survival reasons.

We cannot say that casinos do not have right to know about the background of our cryptos. I mean, we are going to avail some service from them then we must need to bind to their rules and regulation at very first hand. But, they need to be transparent about their rules and must stick and act within their rules.

Actually, I am pretty sure one as a gambler gives them that right to ask for that kind of personal and financial information in the moment we agree with their terms of service and proceed to gamble and bet on their platform anyways.

I am pretty sure it is one of the most common clausules when comes to Terms of services regarding KYC/AML.
People should not and cannot complain for things they accepted in an implicit way when they registered for the first time on a casino that caught their attention.

Not even mention regulators and law enforcement have no problem with casinos and bookies collecting information in their behalf...

If you are someone who isn't in worries about this constant ongoing data leaks you can just pass KYC verification on any online casinos if your choice upfront, this will save you from troubles later.
So you mean that all who have submitted KYC will face troubles in the future?
Because I've done some KYC in trusted casinos, and if this is true, this makes me worry this time.

Quote
If you win a lot of money without passing KYC verification, that's a defeat for you and all you have to do is pray that the casino accepts your ID card or your form of identification.

You will even be scared because they can do as they want with you at that point, your national ID can be rejected and they will put the blame on what you dropped them, escape route for them to dodge paying you your win.
If they will do this, complaints may arise, potentially leading to a criminal case. Gamblers trust them when it comes to privacy, and if they do leak information, that will not just ruin their reputation but the whole gambling industry as well.

If the casinos won't pay, it only means that they are a scam.

Actually KYC isn’t the issue the issue is when and how it is done. It might be essential for the casino to conduct the verification of the source of money in order to ensure security and stay within legal boundaries, However it is unfair to introduce the requirement of KYC right after a win if the player wasn’t previously informed about the rules. I believe that the rules of verification , the list of necessary documents and the withdrawal requirements must be mentioned during registration.

As a gambler always expect to pass KYC requirements at any time, to avoid surprises from online casinos 😔
Take the No KYC casinos as limited offers, or even marketing strategy to attract people like yourself.

KYC isn't an issue to me but I bet that it's a big issue to lots of people, mind you it started looking like an issue to me when the hacks keeps happening almost every blessed day now.

It means the casinos can't keep your data safe like you expected, I wish there is some punishment for any platforms that keeps customers data after using them to verify, but I guess they will need to keep it to avoid abuse.

When I was reading gamblers' discussions about KYC here on the forum, I saw them discussing how it's always better to complete KYC before making a deposit. This struck me as odd. I thought, "Why bother?" After all, it's a routine process, and if I don't win at an online casino, it'll be as if I just gave them scans of my documents. But it all seemed simpler and more complicated than I thought. And your post explains it all. If you're still a new account holder at a casino, then thanks to this clean reputation, the casino will be obliged to give you a positive KYC decision. That's all.

This is a discussion that many gambling friends and communities ponder about, why shouldn't a casino ask you to do all your registrations at the start of your registrating, it would save you the trouble if being told to do so especially at the verge of withdrawing a big win. A few casinos like Stake, would ask you to do KYC verifications when you're registering and I think that this is a good method so if you're not comfortable with providing your personal data to them you will move on. My take is that many casinos just wants you to get registered immediately and start depositing, when they deem it necessary to collect your KYC they will notify you. We gamblers shouldn't assume that a casino not requesting our KYC during registration doesn't mean that the matter cannot come up later on.

Everything related to gambling and casinos is difficult to subordinate to the word "they need" Casinos are primarily a big financial business, and the players are the people who help the business grow. If we choose in advance what suits us or not, with such a large casino competition, we will naturally be more picky. That is why the rules will be different for everyone, but the result, that is, the withdrawal of winnings, will always be the same. Casinos will check the income, identity, and generally the "purity" of the game, as they give their money, and the leniency of the rules before and during the games indicates that they are interested in our funds.

I really hate it when casinos that allow KYC will not state it clear on their platform, some of them even say they don’t require KYC on their platform but when you register, deposit, then play and win some money, when you want to withdraw that is when they ask for KYC, such a casino is a big red flag because they do things without really thinking about their players or customers.

Casinos are just using the term “ the casino is KYC free” to attract more gamblers to there casino because they know gamblers don’t like the stress that comes with KYC, and it’s very bad to lie to your customers.
If a casino allows KYC make it very clear to your customers, and implement it in your registration.

What’s also unfair is if a casino is concerned about an account and the betting activity on there they can also monitor any suspicious activity. Whilst I can see that sometimes you wouldn’t have to check an account until you have won either a certain amount or something out of the ordinary, it should be made clear what would cause this. It feels like the terms and conditions are only really relevant when the casino needs to pay someone out. This is where people begin to lose trust in these platforms.

This is what I was saying the other day about casino that starts demanding for kyc after the gambler has won something. It's too bad that they will not ask for it when deposit was made, when you keep on losing over and over again, but the moment you won something reasonable, they will start asking for it as if their terms and conditions are only relevant when they have to be the one paying.
Another annoying thing is that you can make a deposit of $10k into your betting account to gamble with, they will not ask for kyc, since a huge was deposited, but after gambling and you wishes to withdraw like $11k, just $1k difference, that is when they will start asking for it, just because they are looking for an excuse not to pay, which is very bad by most casino.

Yes... Its when you only find out there are KYC requirements when you win that there is an issue. If you're able to deposit with high amounts and play without having to verify your identity, then it can be annoying when you get to the point where you have to provide documents. I understand that sometimes there will be checks put in place if there is suspicious activity or some high limits on transactions, however casinos should make it clear from the start what their verification policy is. This way players know what to expect before making a deposit.

Never argue with idiots firstly they will bring you on their level then beat you with their experience.

I believe that the rules of verification , the list of necessary documents and the withdrawal requirements must be mentioned during registration.
The problem is that, most people who register in casinos barely have the time to read through all the documents and terms, they just register and move on to play straight away, and I think the casinos already know this and mostly take advantage of players for that.

The casinos should simply just show the exact KYC steps and requirements/documents required right at the registration point, at least that way players would know what to expect later on and not be shocked when attempting to withdraw.

That's precisely why I'm not seduced by the "no-KYC" label. I always have the most commonly requested documents on hand, or rather, on my PC, in case I need to go through any verification. Nowadays, most companies already request them anyway; it's good to be prepared. The problem is that saying you're "no-KYC" and then requesting them is misleading advertising, and many gamblers/users create accounts solely for that reason.

One review of ten casinos marketed as No-KYC found that every operator retained some contractual ability to request verification.
For me, the most useful distinction is now between predictable KYC and surprise KYC.

Would you rather complete KYC before your first deposit, know a fixed verification threshold, or accept unpredictable checks in exchange for a No-KYC onboarding experience?

And should casinos be required to publish their standard verification rules without revealing their internal AML risk triggers?
I think it's much better if a casino asks for KYC right after you try to make your first deposit and decide to start your journey with them, because this makes it clear whether you can play with them or not, because if they reject your KYC application or documents for any reason, you will at least not have your money stuck with them as you can move to another platform after that, or you will submit some other proof to see if it works and finally when they accept it and you are now verified, you can deposit and gamble without any worries since you know you have already completed your verification, and you won't face any problems when making a withdrawal, although I think they can still ask for extra KYC if the amount you are trying to withdraw is large or if they suspect you have been going against their ToS.

Casinos that don't clearly mention anything about KYC or whether they will ask you for it or not are simply misleading. Some of them would even have a clause in their terms and conditions which they will refer to once a gambler asks that they never had it mentioned that they will need to complete KYC before a withdrawal. Ironically, some casinos would even say that they are a no-KYC casino, but even they would also have it written indirectly in their terms and conditions that they can ask for it if a situation for it occurs, which simply means that they are just using the 'no-KYC' label to gain attention.

Default remains that some gambling casinos do request for additional document even though the have already stated the no kyc gambling casino, yet we cannot conclude that every other platform still behaving the same manner, casino sometimes are not the same and we can't relate the same experience we have with a particular one to be the same with what applies to others, once you research and also get the review results being satisfactory enough for you to decide for a casino, therefore some casinos can be reliable and trusted to be known kyc casino and they don't go back on their world to demand for any documents or verification along the way.

Regarding the publishing rules, casinos should be required to state basic tier limits and first withdrawal policies, even if they keep specific AML fraud triggers private. The main issue in offshore crypto right now isn't compliance, it's asymmetric enforcement. Using surprise verification as a deliberate tool to stall paying out winners while letting unverified deposits flow freely is the oldest trick in the book. If players treated "No KYC" as "no routine checks yet" instead of a lifetime promise, half the complaint threads on this forum would disappear.

casinos have no right to know the source of a gamble's income become allowing him to withdraw his winning from the casino unless they looking something else.

I agree with you, any casino that requires KYC should clearly state its verification policy at the time of registration. However, I view source of funds a bit differently.

It would be incorrect to say that casino has no right, under any circumstance, to know source of customer's fund.

Under AML obligation, casino may be required to verify Source of Funds in certain circumstance. Problem is when and how they are using this power. If any customer makes regular deposit and loses their bet then there are no question asked. But after big win, they suddenly requested document that could have been asked for earlier. This type of behavior certainly gives rise to suspicion. Moreover, same type of check is not required for all customer. Risk based assessment is important.
