Cricket isn’t a popular sport in my country, Nigeria, however, it’s not uncommon for people to come together to organise such competitions in my community. But it is usually football, chess or FIFA video games. These competitions are always fun to watch as it brings people together although they can also be intense sometimes especially the football games.

I agree, this is not really a common sport in Nigeria, even though some people might actually bet on this sport we all know that the most common sport game that's played among people for fun and also a sport game that they bet on is football. The reason for that is because this is what they are used to, you cannot really find the game of cricket being played by any local teams in Nigeria. Not with cricket, but with basketball. We bet on some ice water to be paid for by the losers, and the winners get that ice water. It's those days when betting is just truly for fun and no monetary value in that community that I've grown up and it's a common thing in the country that we play and bet with something like that. It's not going to make the losers pay a lot but everyone gets their water after the game. But those were just the days in the past and the younger ones right now will also feel the nostalgia when they grow up and they should enjoy that moment while it last.

In my Locality, football is majorly the best sports that establishes bragging rights over competitors and feeds the raw competitive fire of sportsmanship and even now and then from the beginning to the middle to the end of the year, there's always a major competition that gets the neighbourhood talking and betting on who is favorite to win.
The most important thing is that money isn't really the main goal, bragging about who is better is the objective and that determines who wins the major stake.

Whot and Ludo is the only simple indoor game where we used to play in my area with little spectators of about 5 enjoying it, in this case, spectators stakes among each other who to win and loss, players doesn't even take any rewards but the spectators brags among themselves on this.

The last time I experienced something close to this was in my high school days, where we do have a game fixed between two classes and the agreement will be that the looser will get the winners some treats after the game, it could be some snacks or something cool which usually isn't expensive,  you will see everyone putting in the effort not to end up loosing because they do not want to spend their money, somw other personsliterallystay outsideand place bets within themselves which team is going to win and which will be loosing. Every region or country has enough charisma in local games, which always attract more intention. While people do not have enough time for big leagues or games, which are having enough intention through media here in our area, many games always bring enough fun for people who love to enjoy them and have good chances of winning money because organizers have also done a workout for something that gives them funds.
Sports betting also has enough space for these things easily. In my early days I always had good activities with my friends; we always did good for spending time and winning prizes or bets because this gave us a chance of having good money for keeping things above our budget. I don't know about crickets. Right from time football bets has always been the famous games people in my locality plays and they don't seem to play for any other intentions such as the excitement you said but to make extra money and this has always been the interest of majority of the gamblers and same reasons why some gamblers had become victims of addict.
It's true that without a wagering, the players won't be serious with the game so I understand the area you're going.

In the CIS countries, neither cricket nor baseball is popular, instead, football and hockey are the dominant sports. Naturally, these are team sports, and for decades they have been more popular than anything else especially football, as it requires no special equipment, balls are extremely inexpensive, and it’s fun to play with friends from a very young age. I myself spent a lot of time playing football albeit at an amateur level and my love for the game, as well as for sports in general, has stayed with me my whole life. I hope my own children will come to love this sport too, as it’s great for developing coordination, learning tactical thinking for success, and fostering overall health.

In my country, cricket and football both are favourite sports. There are tournaments almost every month and there is always some cash prize for the winners. I think that is what makes the game interesting for the players. It is not always that professional players join these tournaments. There are struggling players who find these tournaments a good opportunity to make some extra income while still enjoying the game. I have a few friends who are really good are football but are struggling financially so they always keep looking for any tournament where they can win the cash prize.

Even community games organised by schools and colleges have some cash prize involved. That prize might not be given to the players but the school/college in most cases but the prize always remains constant.

Thats the part how you will seen the use of the gambling if this is just use for an entertainment or for the sake of money, others wanted to earn money because this serve as their capital and their pride, other wanted just to seek the title to prove their ego and they can say that they are the best players. So basically no matter what the outcome is still they have one goal. Which is to win the game. Its normal to have a competition because they can see that there is a thrill any game that no roaller coaster of emotions is just a boring game.

Disputes are pretty common when it comes to playing any game on a physical turf. That's why there should be some strict rules even before starting the game and a referee is always a must even if it is just a small game. Someone who stands fair should always have the authority to do what is good for both the teams. It is a good practice to make the losing team pay for the turf even if there is no actual cash prize for that game. This one single rule makes the game way more interesting.

I remember playing cricket with my friends once a month and this was the very same rule we practised. The overall turf charges for an entire match used to be around $15 here in my country which was divided among the entire team. Even that amount used to sound like a big deal for us back in times.
