Even if everything is possible in a country,  i don't think eliminating politics can be possible because it help in leadersship selection process,  management of resources and creation of policies that will become beneficial to the citizens and the country itself.
Instead of looking at eliminating politics which we know is not possible,  I think restructuring the system and eliminating corruption should be what we should work towards because corruption is the only reason it looks like politics is a bad practice.
The same politics we are looking at eliminating is what have helped transformed other nations,  all we should look at is how transpiracy, accountability, openness and other good attributes will be introduced in our leadership system.

Politics may be the problem of the country four our eyes, but politics is not our problem. We are our main problem with the way we practice politics. We need good governance and to make things better, even the corrupt politicians. When everyone focus on the politics, how to get into to power and steal, we begin to suffer it. Nigeria have a lot of natural resources, still we need a better leadership that will turn these things to favor the citizens. For you to think we can do without politics, the answer is No. But we can do without the politics that put their interests above the interest of the nation.

I totally agree with you on your opinion which says politics is our problem, indeed we all know that politics is our problem but I can tell you that politics is not actually our problem but it's the politicians that come from the politics that is our our problem because politics is just a word which don't have a direct effect on us but the politicians are the ones that have a direct effect on the citizens as they are the ones that leads us and make law that governs us.

Nobody is better or good and we shouldn't expect a Messiah from anywhere to rule us , what we should be praying for is to have a leader that has empathy for the people, who is willing to hearken to the cry of the people and effect changes. My question is who is that person?, the country is so corrupt that we can't even recognize anyone that is a good leader. Politics is something we can't do without because that's the system that produces the leadership of every country not just Nigeria.

So CAN WE DO WITHOUT POLITICS?
We can't because we need leaders. Every country needs leaders to pivot their economy and maintain rules and order. If we don't have leaders, they will be so much chaos and disorder, people will be do as they wish which might result to break down of law and order. So in a nutshell, we need leaders and politics is the only viable way we get leaders, this is is why I feel we cannot do without politics since we need leadership to maintain law and order.

Bad leadership has made us to believe that politics is the root of the problems we are facing in Nigeria but instead of trying to stay out from politics, we should stand united and fight corruption because that's the main origin of our problems.

I don't think Nigeria can do without politics joke apart despite the fact that the politics in this country has horrible they've fail the people of the country countless time except maybe the military regime and you and i know how the military operates where I will love to see military take over the country is when the politician cannot be able to tackle the insecurity of the country but when there's political power and military there will be alot of crimes on none government will take over the country.

I don't understand you well, you mean can this country do without Politics? I don't think there is a country that can do without Politics, if there is no politics there will no be a way for citizens to vote a leader and a country without leader is not a good country, in fact, a country without leader will not be a peaceful country because there is no one to control it.

Politics is a very good thing and i understand the reason why you ask this question, you are asking the question because of what is going on in the country, but I can tell you that without Politics, Nigeria will not be where it is today, Politics is like a weapon that makes us do the right thing by voting our leaders, our greediness and selfishness is the reason why things are not going well.

You mean Nigeria should not have a leader? Like we should go back to the military regime or a monarchy system? We have been in the military regime and it wasn't so pleasant, Nigeria is a country with so many ethnicity so a King or queen to rule over the country won't work.
If Nigeria is without a leader then things will disintegrate even more, I believe Nigerians should be realistic and a discussion about no leader is not realistic, what Nigeria needs are good politicians.
Nigeria cannot do without politics and politics is not only a democratic system of government, politics also happened during military regimes, this just depend on how we define the word politics, even in our homes we have to do politics because assuming you are the head of the family how will you rule your family members.

No nation or household can do without politics, do you know that islamically if three people are going out or two people, it is very important to select among them as the leader of the group and they have to respect that decision and that is how you see that they movement will be organized.

Even if everything is possible in a country,  i don't think eliminating politics can be possible because it help in leadersship selection process,  management of resources and creation of policies that will become beneficial to the citizens and the country itself.

The same politics we are looking at eliminating is what have helped transformed other nations,  all we should look at is how transpiracy, accountability, openness and other good attributes will be introduced in our leadership system.

I don't think Nigeria will succeed without politics because politics is what guides the indigenous people especially poor citizens. I don't think politics is Nigeria's problem. But I believe is their problem it is the politicians, the corrupt ones that need to be eliminated. We have everything it takes to improve the country.

If we're asked to do without politics who will be in control of our natural resources? Our biggest setback is not politics itself but politicians. They have turned politics into a business for their own personal interests instead of service to humanity and the remedy for Nigeria is not to take away politics but to reform politics.

A nation cannot do without politics because it is from playing politics they have leadership especially for a democratic country like Nigeria. But with the kind of politics that’s being played here in Nigeria I would say if it’s possible let’s do away with politics in Nigeria. The politics that’s being played in the country is not helpful to the people, the leaders who played the politics of getting elected into power in Nigeria are not delivering the true value of democracy.

Politics cannot be eliminated in Nigeria's history. It is politics that determines who leads the country through the electoral process. If we should change anything in the way we select leaders, it should be changing the system of government we practise. From democracy to another system of government that will abolish corruption, manipulation, nepotism, and tribalism to bring fair leadership in the country.

I disagree with you in that second sentence. Politics have not helped Nigeria in any way. In your opinion, it has, but not in mine.

I support your options, and I can say that without politics in particular our solutions would still not be resolved. Moreover, a country must have a system of the leadership that would piloting the country's affairs and the citizens of the country, but corruptions has spoiled everything in politics, if not our leaders are supposed to know the truths that all the governments positions or officers serve as a responsibility for then, than seeing it as way of cheating people and get themselves rich with the opportunity they have. I will agree with you that, We have several meniral resources that can bring a huge development to our country, but due to greediness of our leaders, they only work on what favours the, if facts we a too dependent on politics.

‎It's not possible to run a nation without having a leader (politics). Even a group of 10 humans will want choose one or two person to represent and lead them. Politics has been in the root of we humans, we can't do without it. People need leaders to direct them and gives law and orders. Politics is not our problem, its just the way our leaders are misusing it , that made it look bad.
‎
‎Maybe you could have say , can we change the system of our government, because this one we are using isn't working. What we need now is a leader that can build this country by industrialisation of very sector we have , public and human welfare programmes, Infrastructures, etc. Just have a working system of government and leaders who have attributes of honesty, transparency and accountability, then you will see that politics isn't our problem.

OP your question is not so clear because no country can do without politics, politics controls every sector of the world, the only thing we can say is that Nigeria should not politicize everything, where Nigeria keeps on getting it wrong is that in crucial sectors of the economy that needs competence, Nigeria often times substitute competence for mediocrity just because of politics.

And that is were Nigeria keeps on getting it wrongly, most developed countries don’t play politics up to the point of choosing incompetent people, but in Nigeria they can reject a first class graduate, just to accept a third class graduate, simply because the person has some godfather that is recommending them, it is only in Nigeria that you can see a fully decorated Army general that have never participated in a war, he became a general from regular recommendations from his godfathers, even in sports you will see someone that is not good being picked to represent the country because his uncle is a senator, this are areas that it will be good for Nigeria not to involve politics, if the country must move forward.

Without politics or leadership a society or a country cannot move forward. Even a small group of 20 people needs a leader to make decisions and represent them. Therefore politics is an integral part of our human life it is not a problem. The real problem is that when leaders abuse power, the entire political system is tarnished. After changing the current ineffective system we now need an honest transparent and accountable leader who will lead from the front to rebuild the country through industrialization public welfare technology and sustainable infrastructure. It is clear that politics can be the biggest tool to change the destiny of a nation if there is a proper government system and leadership in the hands of the right people.

You are very right mate, that is the mistake that Nigerians keep making, choosing people who are not capable of leading the country and every time election comes, we seem to be so payed by the things they say in their manifesto, rather than critically examining the persons we are choosing or electing to lead us. Nigeria should be able to grow beyond just choosing anybody who promises good things, they should be able to look at the history of the person, and try to access whether they have capacity to lead the masses or not.

It is when we make mistakes of choosing our leaders, that the country suffer, the people in it suffer, the poor masses who are eating from hand to mouth finds it difficult to get good job and feed fine. The leaders have decided politicising almost everything and instead of them doing what they ought to do, they focus on campaigning for the next election, and giving our illiterate women food items and money to vote for them and their selfish interests.

I know eliminating politics can never be possible in Nigeria, and no one is talking about eliminating it as well, but we all have to do things in certain ways that will not cause chaos in the country, Nigeria. The masses are passing through alot, and the government is supposed to do something about it, but rather, they have prioritised politics over other important matters .

The only reason most politicians will keep doing what they are doing in Nigeria is because we are not doing anything about it, we the masses keep allowing them to use us the way they deem fit, and after election, they will trash us. It is very important to know our rights as citizens of this country, so these politicians will not use us.

No Nigeria can't do without politics they wear politics like clothes, and this politices is just for their selfish interests not for the interest of all the masses just for their own.
This politices is just what they do to still bring down the Nigeria system, one thing that make me hate politics is that is just a dirty game that means your brother actitude can change for you in future, this things is just one of the biggest challenge we have in this country, the system of politics is corrupt in this case since it's corrupted it's very hard for people I mean the mases to grow ,the system of Nigeria politics need to adjust so that it will help everyone.

Nigeria's problem is not "politics" because without politics to have a leadership structure there will be chaos everywhere, people will not be organized so there is needs to have a political structure to elect leaders so that everybody cannot be a captain in the ship called Nigeria. Nigeria's problem which is same with many countries is "corruption" when you have bad leaders who plays bad politics the country cannot experience peace and progress.

We have politicians in this country who don't care about the ordinary citizens, they want to sit at the top and enrich themselves while the economy and the people suffers. If we can successfully vote out our bad leaders and elect good politicians you will know that politics is not the problem, the problem is corrupt people occupying political positions.

Unless if OP was referring to the peculiar nature of politics we play. The kind of politics being played in Nigeria is special, though not so special because it is a backward kind of politics and as a large country like Nigeria, we ought to have outgrow such nature of politics already if not, then there is no nation or state out there which can survive without politics. Politics is played even at family level if you want to break it down to the microcosm of it. Because politics and election are two different things. We do elections once in a while after every campaign season which mostly come cycles but as for politics, it is something we do every now and then.

Whether we go back to any system of government if the bad people are in control we'll still remain the same, I don't mind if Nigeria goes back to military system of government but what I want is good leaders. See how the military regime in Burkinafaso and few other countries where military is in charge are doing pretty good.

So if we have military leaders with their mindset that can change Nigeria for good then it's should be embraced by everyone, we've suffered too much in the hands of politicians who decieve us with democray so anything that works and makes Nigeria better is welcomed, I don't know about you.

This country called Nigeria and her citizens has channels all energy into politics, and politics has now become the business of the day in our dear country.

We where made to understand that Nigeria is the giant of Africa and by the look of things, I can make bold to say that the country called Nigeria has now take flight, in going backward.

You see our leaders today? they have forgotten to invest in our dear country, all they could do today is to contest election and think of how to milk the people, then they will now go outside the country (international communities) and invest forgetting to invest in the country that made them. so it's as if politics is the game of the day. so I want to know if actually as a country, we can do without politics?
It's definitely not possible for a country to exist without a sitting or workable government. Because the government are the people who make laws, implement them, and ensure the safety of lives and property of every given state or country. So without a government in Nigeria, there will be chaos in the entire country. But its just sad that our own politicians are just greedy and lacks true patriotism, whereby instead of placing the interest of the entire country first, their personal interest is always what they prioritize. Which has made them to keep embezzling more money that they don't even need, whereby we have millions of Nigerians working without a sustainable salary.
