I graduated in textiles; at the same time, I was enthusiastic about tech. So I learned a lot about development. I have lots of experience doing this. I completed quite a few freelance projects as a full-stack developer.
Since I just recently graduated, my job life will begin now. But recently I got an offer from an IT company as a full-stack developer; the salary range is quite good compared to my graduation sector.
I always feel great , and enjoy development. That is why I spent lot's of time doing this. But I graduated in a completely different sector , thinking about the job market. Since it has a great demand in my country. Also, my dream was always to have my own business; that is why I chose this sector for my graduation.
If I switch carriers now, would that make me an idiot? And am I being brain dead?
It am in so much confusion.

Sometimes we may want to be something in life, but then life has its own way of choosing for us what is better for us than what we anticipated to be.
Many have changed career paths because they got better options and some just have to follow the flow of life. This doesn’t mean you’ve failed in your life goals, some paths leads to others and every knowledge you’ve acquired through this process will become beneficial for you in the future.
You are on the right path, don’t dwell about it too much and when opportunities also arise from the other side, don’t hesitate to tap into it also, if you can perform well multitasking.

There is no single right answer, but you should probably do what you love doing the most. If you're still young then you really don't need to commit to anything. If you have an opportunity in the tech sector right now you could always try it for a few years and see if you like it. Chances are it will pay a lot higher wages than most jobs in the textile industry, but money isn't everything. You should also think about long term stability of your work as well, if you go to work in a factory making/designing clothes who knows if that business will shut down and move production to a cheaper country. With IT work you have a lot more flexibility and can offer your skills worldwide or even develop a business for yourself. Most people would actually struggle with just a degree in textiles and without IT skills, so consider yourself as much better positioned. If you did want to get back into the sector later in life you could always earn some decent money in tech and use that to transition back into it later on with less financial pressure.
Don't be afraid to try lots of different jobs when you're young, because it will help you to find what you truly enjoy but can also expose you to things that you didn't realize about an industry that might make you pick another. There is a lot of competition in tech, but there is probably more opportunity there for the future compared to textiles which is being automated away. Lots of tech positions are vulnerable to automation too, so you should position yourself to be the overseer and quality controller of things like AI, rather than just another coder.

I will advise you do the one you love the most, because at the end, it is the one you have the most passion for that you will do well in. If you really love textile, that is what you graduated in, you can do that with more focus, and maybe perhaps freelance for full stack development deals that will not take your entire time, but if you settle with yourself that you love tech more, you should not beat yourself about it, you will not be the first to abandon what you have read and studied in school for something else that you did on the side, and you will not be the last person to do so.

Some people have passion for something, but life can be very different to the person as he is growing older. As the person in growing older, he will be move towards where he is seeing money as he is not getting younger. Just follow the part that you think will favour you more if you can not do the two together.

I don't see the problem here mate, you graduated in textile and you love tech to the extent of completing projects as a full stack developer, so now what's your problem, and you say the salary is great so what is the dilemma you face because I can't see any right now.
In my own opinion everything has already fallen in place for you, take the tech Jobs as much as you can since you are already enthusiastic about It, see the textile graduation as an added knowledge for yourself, everything is already fine .

There is nothing wrong in switching career. As a matter of fact %90 of people you see in different sector today never studies what they are doing now, but as nature may have it, it places you where you belong and not where you want. Many people who wanted to prove a point by trying to reap the fruit of what they studied never got it. Life is all about opportunity and utilizing them when they come. If you truely want to make it in life don't miss opportunity. You can accept it and working towards your goals, and when you are done you use the capital you get from here and support your career And meanwhile when you start your Career with the money you get from here, don't quite your current job, but rather be working on both sides until you are feet and perfect before you can quit. Because I have seen many people who made such mistake and regretted thereafter.

No it doesn't make you. You are at this point a very valuable asset in the job market because you have both skills and a certificate in two different sectors. In today's kind of economy, having different skills can help you scale up much faster than someone with a single point career. I knew of a man who graduated with two degrees back then. he went to the university to study law and graduated but upon finished he did another career in computer tech. Now he doesn't only work as a lawyer but as a technician consultant in some firms. So you see the kind of opportunities it creates for you.

Actually switching to tech it practical and smart, it not stupid at all. Degree is not a lifetime sentence to an industry, degree is just a foundation. Having to pivot to a full stack developer role actually gives you higher income. It a remote flexibility and also a valuable problem solving skills. If ones dream us to launch a textile business, having to earn a tech salary is really one of the best place to built up a startup capital without going into any debt. You shouldn’t actually take the offer and gain experience and funds your dreams later.

OP, you already confirmed to us that you love tech, and so, there is no problem. If tech pays, and you love it and can do it, then that's all. We must not work because of paper. The major thing is the passion and ability, and you have showed that you can do both, and so, you can just move on with the tech of a thing.
It would have been a different ball game altogether if you love tech and cannot do it, or you can do tech very well but does not love it. But no, you love and can do it, so there is no problem. Take your textile knowledge as an added advantage to your knowledge. If you can merge the two work together, fine and good, butt if you can't, there is nothing wrong if you do the tech thing that you have passion for.

You are lucky to have two great careers in you and I don't think that you will regret choosing any of them because you have love for both which was why you showed much interest in them. If it's me, I will go for the one with the highest pay which is full-stack developer. However, you can still be working as a full-stack developer and own your own business. These days, you don't need to depend only on one source of income if you have the opportunity for a second means of income. You mustn't be the one running your business, you can employ someone that gives report to you for easy monitoring.

What is your long term plan? To get a job or to start a business? If you are only thinking about a job then there is no obligation to use graduation, rather go where you feel comfortable. Since you will get more money by working in the IT sector then you can go there.
If you have a business plan then use your graduation, try to increase business experience and skills from jobs.
I don't think changing careers will make you a stupid person. Formal education is not just for earning money, rather it gives you an idea about life and makes you a skilled person. You can use any skill available to you to earn money. I would advise you to decide independently, you should take the best decision in the long term plan.

If I switch carriers now, would that make me an idiot? And am I being brain dead? You’re not an idiot. A degree is not a contract. Many people do jobs unrelated to their degrees. A great choice. You’ll get paid and gain genuine experience. Your textile degree isnt going to go to waste. Having full stack skills and textile knowledge is a rare combination. In the future you could develop software solutions for textile companies such as order tracking or supplier software. This could be your own business and you’d have genuine industry knowledge. Just make sure that the company will provide you with growth opportunities.

As per my opinion, there is nothing wrong in taking a different career. But you should choose according to your interest and skills. Just like there is nothing written on paper that when you did your studies in textile, you have to work in this field till your death. The best thing about this is that you have learned skills in development along with getting a good job opportunity, It would be better if you start working in some IT company for the time being and then start a business of your own in the coming days.

To be honest, changing careers does not make you senseless or fool because as we know we may desire to be in a particular section or field of work, but in reality that wouldn't be our calling. Our calling may be in something entirely different while in time coming we may be seeing ourselves displaying Openly in the things our interests could catch very much which may be entirely different from what we studied at school as a career.

You are still very young, your whole life is ahead of you. Honestly you are overthinking this massively. Your textiles degree isn't going anywhere, it'll still be there if you ever want to launch some kind of niche e-commerce or textile-tech startup down the road. Fwiw I would take the IT job, stack some cash, and figure out my own business when the time is right. You're definitely not an idiot for going where the actual work and money are. I'm only in my forties. I've already gone through three careers. I graduated from high school in one sector, got a job in retail, but unrelated to my profession, and moved to the IT sector when the opportunity arose. Now, I'm self-employed and run my own company. And I don't think I'll be doing this for the rest of my career.

Nah! Switching carrier does not make you look like an idiot, if you ask me I would say that it is a wise decision because you have come to observe that the thing you learnt isn't working anymore or is not moving like before, at that point you have every right to switch over to the trending one.
This happens both in skills, there are some skills you will learn today maybe in the next 2-3 years they might be outdated. At this point what you're expected to do is to look for a trending one that you know that the demand is quite high and there's money in it, this is exactly what every wise person would do rather than sticking to the one that is literally becoming outdated.

You need to go for what is going to give you money and don't add emotions because you graduated in a different discipline. Go for the money, take the offer and relax. When you are able to gather enough money, you can either build a business with you family if you are married. Creating a business for yourself does not stop you from getting to where you have been dreaming to reach. Do not forget that you need money for you to become an entrepreneur and the only way you can get that money to foot your dream interest is to build wealth for now. Make money and later you can focus on other field that suit your interest.

Changing careers isn't a stupid idea. Interests can change over time, and what once brought you pleasure may no longer bring you satisfaction. It's foolish to continue doing something that no longer gives you pleasure, as you'll end up doing it badly. Plan ahead if you can; save some money; make the change; and good luck in your new profession.

If your career cannot help you then it is very okay for you to do a switch and do something different. For the fact that the profession you graduated from is in high demands doesn't mean you will make it while doing such business. Go for what gives you more money and besides you can use the money you are making as a developer to also start a textile business and employ someone who will be managing it for you while you are doing your developer works. There are many people that the profession they graduated from is not what is putting food on their table so it is very okay to be versatile, and chose the one that pays most of your bills but it doesn't mean you should completely ignore the others.
