I always feel great , and enjoy development. That is why I spent lot's of time doing this. But I graduated in a completely different sector , thinking about the job market. Since it has a great demand in my country. Also, my dream was always to have my own business; that is why I chose this sector for my graduation.
If I switch carriers now, would that make me an idiot? And am I being brain dead?
It am in so much confusion.
In my view, changing your career path doesn’t mean you’re foolish or have lost your senses. On the contrary, recognizing a desire for growth and having the courage to re-evaluate your life choices is all part of the learning process. While it’s true that you need to consider job opportunities and financial needs, don’t let fear lead you to bury your own dreams. Just because you studied a particular field doesn’t mean you’re obligated to spend your entire life working in it. My advice is not to rush into leaving your current job or field. Try to develop the business or skills you’ve dreamed of gradually, all while maintaining your financial stability. This way, your decisions are based not just on emotion, but on careful planning. Remember, man—life isn’t a race to see who can achieve success the fastest. What matters is that you keep learning, stay bold enough to try new things, and remain aware of the risks involved in every decision. Sometimes, taking a different path is exactly what brings you closer to your true goal. 💪

You can't underestimate switching career because sometimes it could also be a means of redirection where you can be more profitable and productive in life. However, the final decision still depends on you whether it could be just for temporary, just to save funds, or make it permanent especially if you have also develop deep passion for it.
What you have graduated will never be your loss. It will always be yours forever, and when things suddenly get tough, and life does not happen based on your expectations, you can always go back to your first love and make it your future business.
For now, just enjoy first while you are earning well.

This is what some people don't know when they got a new job as a fresh graduate, what they think is that there is no other good job with a good salary or wages like what they are enjoying now and it will be difficult for such worker to have interest in another job because they have made up their mind already but those that have a good plan ahead, they will start saving funds from their salary or wages that will help them to create a good business somewhere that will make them not to depend on salary or wages alone and it will make them not to worry of old age when he or she resign or loose the job for any reason.

I’d say chase your dream of owning your own business but don’t quit your job just yet. I don’t know where you live but it’s expensive to be without a job nowadays plus the job market these days is awful. You can start your business while working - most IT roles are hybrid or fully remote so that gives you flexibility to run your business, also the salary from your job would finance your business cost in the early years. Eventually when you have achieved some level of stability and built a customer base you can quit your job for fully focus on your business.

I think the biggest problem here is social pressure. You can’t explain your situation to your social circle. Even if you choose what you personally consider to be the rational option, people will think you’ve actually failed, and some will say things to that effect and criticize you.
Don’t pay attention to what others say. Above all, listen to yourself. If you have a chance to earn more money or feel more at peace, you can tune out what others say.
We only come into this world once; making our own choices and facing the consequences with maturity is a priceless experience.

Jobs is not a bad thing and if the job is good then it is than an adding blessing. But it is not wise to spend only on a job.Rather the money you save from your job after meeting all your expenses should be invested or invested in a place that makes you financially strong and independent.Living on a salary is easy but it will not give you independence and financial freedom.First daily expenses are increasing and second inflation has forced everyone to increase their source of income. Therefore whether it is a job or a business a person should invest his savings. Remember that you should step into investment with thought and strategy.

Well, about this job offer you got based on your tech knowledge, is it going to be a long lasting contract? If it is, then it will help you to raise money to start the business that you said you have always dreamed of which is related to your academic field. From what you said, you seem to have more passion in your academic but before you jump right into it, you also have to compare the salary you will be earning from it to what you are already earning from the tech job. Irrespective of passion for a career, I believe that a lot of people likes where the salary or income is higher. So, if you are earning well with this one, I think it's best to raise money from there and sponsor your other goal.

Sometimes it's like that, when we focus on one goal, then there will be other things that come that are even more tempting. From what you say, it looks like you haven't started from the career you want so much, but there are other tempting offers, it's just that you may not be very interested in it.
And you say you are just entering the world of work, my advice is to get out of your comfort zone first to add experience. Because if you miss what's in front of your eyes today and you focus more on the uncertain, then I'm sure in the future there will be regret. But of course the decision is in your own hands, I just want to say that whatever decision you take today, then you must prepare for all the consequences in the future. Remember, whatever decision you make has consequences.

It doesn’t mean you’re an idiot at all, you’re just overthinking it. Just because you studied a particular course doesn’t mean that’s what you must end up doing for the rest of your life. People grow, discover new interests and find opportunities in different areas. I don’t even see it as switching careers, I see it as exploring other things and finding what works best for you.
You’re allowed to change your mind and try new things, as long as you’re happy and it benefits you. I don’t see anything wrong with that.

I agree that it’s good to have another income, but at the same time I feel a person shouldn't be putting too much pressure on yourself just because you want to achieve everything at once. This person in question is just beginning their career, so it will be more better if the person takes time to gain more experience, he should also try in building professional connections and get more knowledge on how the industry works. It takes time to become financially independent and sometimes, a good job can lay the groundwork and resources to allow a person to have larger goals later. So there is no need to rush the process.

I don’t think you’re making wrong decisions by considering the IT offer. You have already gotten experience and passion for development, plus the salary is attractive. Your degree doesn’t mean you must work only on the sector that you study.
Some times life may take us to a different direction from what we planned. I will advise you to consider the opportunity that will give you a good growth and financial stability. That doesn’t mean you won’t chase after your dreams.

I have also faced social pressures when I wanted to resign from a job I was not comfortable with. The pay was good and it placed me in a high social class. But I wanted to leave the job and focus on my passion. Many people, including family members, advised me not to leave the job. They don't care about my emotions or my future goals. I made the decision to resign, and I have never regretted my actions. I was able to gain more knowledge in another field and am happy with my job. If the OP is under peer or family pressure not to leave his present career, he shouldn't bow to pressure. This is his life and he should always take decision that will benefit him.

I graduated in textiles; at the same time, I was enthusiastic about tech. So I learned a lot about development. I have lots of experience doing this. I completed quite a few freelance projects as a full-stack developer.
Since I just recently graduated, my job life will begin now. But recently I got an offer from an IT company as a full-stack developer; the salary range is quite good compared to my graduation sector.
I always feel great , and enjoy development. That is why I spent lot's of time doing this. But I graduated in a completely different sector , thinking about the job market. Since it has a great demand in my country. Also, my dream was always to have my own business; that is why I chose this sector for my graduation.

I've been in similar situations myself, and I know how difficult it can be to make a decision at times like these. I think you need to pay attention to synchronicities when making such decisions. If the universe sends you a sign through a coincidence, you can use that as a starting point and see where it leads. For example, imagine you're thinking about becoming a software developer, so you decide to leave your current job. While you're considering this new path, you happen to meet an experienced developer who is willing to help you. When something like that happens, I think you need to be alert and recognize the opportunity in front of you.

I don’t think switching careers make you and idiot. In fact obtaining a university degree in a particular field of study now a days doesn’t mean you must spend the rest of your life working in that part field. To me what really matters is identifying where exactly your skill, interests and opportunities align. For your case you studied textiles, but you when ahead and also invested time in learning software development, also gained experience and you were even able to compete some freelance projects. That shows you’re not going to start from zero in the IT industry. If I were to be you I’ll definitely consider the IT offer seriously, especially if it provides more financial benefits and growth opportunities. And you ca also pursue your dreams of owning the textile business in the future. Let you not be tied to a degree and be scared to explore other opportunities you genuinely enjoy.

Since it has a great demand in my country. Also, my dream was always to have my own business; that is why I chose this sector for my graduation. There are reasons why people are advised to learn some skill even while chasing their academic ambitions because what you study in school, there are others who have degrees in those disciplines and still are walking around without a job. You have a skill which puts you ahead of your grades. I will say you should utilise it without even adding any negative thinking to it. Aside from doing something, one loves the whole idea behind all the degrees, and the stress is to get a good-paying job. If I switch carriers now, would that make me an idiot? And am I being brain dead?
It am in so much confusion.
You don’t need to be confuse, You don’t need to be confused; you like tech, and now you are into it. If you still want to own a business that aligns with what you study in school, you can still do it when you have raised enough money from where you have been offered a Job.

The decisions is up to you, because you can't start afresh in a new thing you know nothing about, and you're choosing a new carrier it will cost you some years if an not mistaken...For me, i will encourage you not to keep off from the one you know better..before you leave what you already have, make sure you have foundation in what you're about to venture into... Just check yourself very well, if the new carrier you're about to chose will make you to be convenient..The decision is yours, not from any member of the forum..

One thing I prioritize when is coming to career choices is how much I stand to earn. Maybe others have others reasons though but for me, this comes first. So I’ll compare the one that earns me more and aswell compare the timing, which suites better. Passion counts though because we tend to do better in things we actually love but it all depends on how we can explore the passion in our present generation. Because some passion wise careers are time consuming and doesn’t generate more income, and at the point where the cost of living is high and income is low, yiu might loose interest at some point. When time even allows, we do multi tasking, but in a case where it’s impossible to multi task, I’ll go for the one that meets my goal, and the general goal making profits enough to accumulate wealth.

If you are still single, living life would not be that expensive compared to those who already have their own family. But keeping your job will definitely lead you to achieve financial stability early while you are also saving up funds for your dream business. So don't be confused but strike while the iron is hot. Do your job while you are also preparing a good and challenging life ahead of you. You don't have to stop really, as long as you know how to manage your time and money, you can always make the most of those two passions you have in your life right now.

This is not something new; people take courses and eventually land jobs very different from the ones they took up. The most important thing is you love what you're doing. You know two industries, so in case you didn't succeed in the first one, you can still shift to the other one. We are living in a fast-changing world; we need a backup job or knowledge to survive. You should take it positively; whichever you choose will benefit you.

No one should be fixated on one area of expertise or one job if they want to grow well in life and financially. From the past to the present, many people have succeeded in fields they never considered during school or college. So, clearly, we shouldn't feel guilty just because we haven't succeeded in a field we once enjoyed or pursued in the past. So, in this case, I think what you said is also true, because everyone should be smarter in seeking new opportunities and capitalizing on them to generate new profits.
