Yes, the matter is absolutely realistic, in this political life, those who will pull you up will eventually pull you down again. They may use the valuable time from your life for their work, but when the time comes, they will definitely return you to that past place, those who are godfathers in politics always do politics in a bad way and do not work well for the people.
Because they do not do any good work, they get the results of their own bad deeds in the end, so if you want to do politics, it is definitely necessary to do good politics and besides, you should leave politics. There is no politics like the politics of the past, the current politics is dirty politics.

Keep in mind that in politics there are no permanent friends or enemies, only permanent interests. So it's no surprise that once you're no longer useful to them, they'll try to bring you down or even destroy you, even if they were the ones who helped you rise in the first place.

As for politics today vs back then , imo you've got it wrong. It's still dirty and full of ugly, shady stuff. It's just that tech has come a long way  and info spreads like wildfire.  So it's way easier for us to see what used to be swept under the rug or never reached the public.

You’re very correct and I agree with you, Godfatherism can help someone to grow politically, it can still be the same thing that will still limit the person. The issue here is some godfather doesn’t want their godson to become independent or even make decisions that will favour the masses if it doesn’t favour his personal interest.

Good mentorship is suppose to build leaders that will stand on their own, not to turn them into puppets. To see a good political godfather is difficult now a days.

Godfatherism was popular 5 to 10 years ago. People in politics were ready to stick to one man or woman as their Godfather, even if they were not uplifted as expected for being loyal to their Godfather.

The case is different now. People play Godfatherism but will shift sides once the opportunity comes. Loyalty is not common in our generation. It is easier for people to choose another Godfather when the other one is not giving them opportunities. Snitching is real.

Yes, i agree with you because in my own very country where i come from. Godfatherism takes almost 80 to 90 percent of what ever comes in, and will also want to be in charge in making decisions. So it's really not making the followers to grow, they are the ones that will bite and remain for you.

Political Godfather would definitely help you to grow, not just now but also for the future, but you have to be loyal to your godfather, since they’re the one helping you to grow, and also giving you appointments, loyalty is the watchword for political godfather, if you are not loyal you might end up losing any position they’ve helped you achieve, which I think political Godfather isn’t a very good thing all together, as a man when you have a political godfather you can only be following their instructions, but there comes a man’s life you will have to take authority for yourself with a sense of belonging, that is where the problems comes when you don’t do things that they instruct you to do, Godfather is something that I wouldn’t like in terms of giving you instructions and command to do whatever they want.

Having a political godfather doesn't mean you shouldn't have your own structure because in politics there's no permanent friend or enemy, there's only permanent interests. In the future, your interests may not align with that of your godfather and you'll need to split and you'll continue with your own structure, aligning with people that still share same interests.

People mistake godfatherism as political slavery, but it's not. You can still say no to your godfather with reasonable points and no matter if you guys split up, you'll always have a bond, coexist and not step on each other's toes

A political godfather would undoubtedly help you grow, both now and in the future. However, since they are the ones who help you grow and give you appointments, loyalty is the watchword for political godfathers; if you are not loyal, you may lose any position they have helped you achieve.

In my opinion, having a political godfather isn't a very good thing overall; as a man, you can only follow their instructions.However, in a man's life, you have to take charge of yourself and feel like you belong. This is where the problems arise when you don't follow their instructions. A godfather is someone who gives you orders to do whatever they want, which is something I wouldn't like.

The politics today strive by godfatherism, it's either hidden or made open, in the line of politics only few can be free from such godfather even then can be completely free because a tree can't make a forest, there are good godfather but it takes high level of sacrifices to achieve any height, most if the third world countries before you are politically known you must be under an embrella where those ahead serve to be godfather, politics is gambling where when hope on luck it's a matter of who is at your back financial power and all measure as well the masses, some godfather may not be opened to the public view but act as shadow members.

Yes op, there are good godfather in some countries while there  are bad godfather in some countries in the political sector in the society, some good godfather will want the person that will take over power from them to perform More than them in the office but the moment they handover power to their wish candidate and him or her is not performing well as he or she promised, the godfather will not be happy and he or she will find way to make sure the next election will not return to that sit, while some bad godfather will enter into an agreement with whoever that will take over the power and if him or her fail the agreement whether there is a good record or not the godfather will still support and backup such candidate to show interest in the second term.

Firstly godfatherism is bad for politics and I have never supported it. I really don't care if there are good or bad godfathers in politics,  because this godfathers always have a say of who rules and who does not rule, which affect elections. This set of people stop competent leaders to hold political office, because they are not their godson and this affects the development of the nation.  When you claim a godfather is good,  I think it's because the godson is doing his will and you will not hear them having issue and then you say he is a good godfather, but the truth is that his is not good, rather the godson is only doing his will, so I am completely against godfatherism in politics.

Godfatherism is dangerous because if you are a politician and you succeed through the influence of your Godfather, it will be difficult for you to make your own personal decisions because your Godfather will be the one to tell you what to do and what you ought not to do. Godfather can choose anyone he likes whether he is competent or not and they mostly chose those they can control and manipulate.

In the world today their are different kinds of people,  the once with the heart of gold and the once with the heart of iron despite the continuous changes we experience, same way it is in normal life same also it is in politics all we need pray for is to have the good once and not the bad once.
I don't know if i will say its the nature of politics to transform all involved in it to bad despite the good spirit in them. Although I won't say there are no good godfather but it is hard to get as all are interested in what will be beneficial to them and there families without minding how the citizens will fill.
