Stronger team often have the smaller odds because the bookmakers itself believed that there is always winning in them so lot of people would be wanting to bet on them whereby they could reduce the odds allocations to be able to suite what they could be paying out should there is a much higher winning, that would run them down or lacking funds to pay. That is why, those games they knew that winning would be hard you see them allocates higher odds so that those who doesn't know about odds could likely choose them and then loose their bets.

Coupled with the fact that there are times where the underdog teams are mostly on fire, and the big teams tend to lose more times than they usually win, for someone using this sort of strategy, it could mean serious trouble for them fr. I used to feel like this strategy was just another sure banker, and though the odds were quite small, I felt they were worth risking and I risked them, but I learned the hard way.
