With a handful of large pools controlling most of the network hashrate, solo mining looks like an act of stubbornness. But the logic hasn't changed: you find a block, the block is yours. No proportional queue, no minimum payout threshold, no parking your coins in someone else's account and filing a withdrawal request.
88pool is a BTC solo pool built on exactly that premise, at solo.88pool.com.
The first thing we gave back is identity. There is no registration, no email, no KYC. Your worker name is your BTC payout address; the pool issues work against that address, tracks its hashrate, records its blocks. There is no "account" anywhere in the flow.
The second is that your money never passes through us. When a block is found, the coinbase transaction is built with two outputs from the start: 98% to your address, 2% to the pool fee address. Both sit in the same block, verifiable by anyone on-chain. There is no "collect into the pool wallet, then forward it manually" step — and therefore none of the exposure that comes with it: commingling, frozen withdrawals, manual review.
The third is a fee structure with nothing left to explain: a flat 2%, deducted from the coinbase only when a block is actually found. No block, zero cost. No monthly fee, no withdrawal fee, no maintenance cut.
The barrier is deliberately low. Start difficulty is 10,000, minimum 1, no upper cap. A couple of S19s are fine; a single small miner can connect and watch its shares land.
Connection details: stratum+tcp://solo.88pool.com:3333 as primary, port 4334 as backup, and Stratum V2 at stratum2+tcp://solo.88pool.com:3346. The password can be anything. The dashboard is public and address-based.
Paste an address and you get its hashrate, share counts and block history; the pool's own hashrate and block log are published alongside. If something goes wrong here, you will see it in the numbers before you see it in an announcement.
Now the part most pool ads leave out. Solo mining is a lottery. At current network difficulty a single machine may run for months or years without finding a block, and the variance is brutal. Only point hashrate at this that you can afford to write off entirely. If what you want is steady daily payouts, a PPS or PPLNS pool is the correct answer — solo is not that, and no amount of marketing changes the math.
88pool is a small, independently run pool built on the open-source ckpool. There is no token, no VC, no growth target that requires your hashrate to hit a number. The 2% exists because it covers a full node, a backup and the bandwidth — that is the entire revenue line, and it is the reason the fee can stay where it is instead of creeping up once you have switched over. We do one thing: get your block into your wallet, cleanly and directly.
