The main reason bitcoin was not really affected is because Binance did not fall. If Binance collapsed, cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin would have fallen significantly. But what I know about bitcoin is that the fall does not affect the next all time high. People will later buy bitcoin. Binance was able to let their customers not to lose any coin is the reason. But it does not start from Binance, it started from other exchanges that have the protection funds and were able to not let their customers lose money.

The reason why there was no major negative effect on the market after the Binance hack was reported is that Binance has been saying from the beginning that user funds are safe and they have proven that there have been no problems with any of the user funds. And with the amount of profit they make every month, it is possible to recover their losses very quickly. And since the hackers did not convert the bitcoins that were hacked, there is no problem with the liquidity of bitcoin in the market, everything is normal. However, when the news of the hack was spread, there was some immediate effect on the market because many thought that since a platform like Binance was hacked, it could have a major impact on the market. Those who panicked and sold then are now regretting because their decision was wrong. This incident of Binance being hacked will not have any impact on the market.

This is the third time it has happened on Binance, and CZ is not even shaken. Even though it's the biggest hack in history, the scenario could have been different if it weren't Binance, but it's Binance; it's good that they are in the process of recovering the majority of their coins.
But this should stop; even if they claim that the funds are safe, there's disruption and questions, especially for those who do not know how cryptocurrency works.

There are newbies who don't fully understand the concept of cryptocurrency

I don't know what else to think, but your opinion are welcome and I stand to be corrected where my idea may be wrong.

The past hacks have taught industry players how to handle such situations. Some of the reasons you have listed might be some of the reasons why the Bitcoin price didn't decline much.

The exchange immediately assured users that their funds are safe because they have enough funds to absorb the impact.

Another reason is that Tether, Circle, and several other crypto firms claim that they have frozen close to $3 billion of the stolen funds.

The crypto industry operates 24/7, so I don't think we might have any massive drop tomorrow. Maybe you are assuming that there might be massive outflows from Bitcoin ETFs since they don't offer services on weekends.

It's good for the stability of bitcoin but it did take a little tumble. You see this in the regular stock market though and it's called a "correction". It shows that bitcoin has reached a certain level of maturity, but it works both ways and might mean that it's less likely to move upwards as fast as it did previously. We are still in a period of recovery where it's not fully proven that binance will pay back all the money even though they have promised it. If they fail to pay then the biggest exchange falling over will likely have a bigger knock on confidence than we've seen so far. It's still early days so don't be too confident in the damage so far being the end of it.

I don't know what else to think, but your opinion are welcome and I stand to be corrected where my idea may be wrong.
If you are a Binance user, you will know why Binance was not shaken by the hacking/theft phenomenon that occurred at Binance on October 29 2026. On the Binance web page, they have mentioned the main factor why the Bitcoin market was not shaken badly, they are fully committed to it. Binance users and parties.

As discussed on the Binance web resource.
Quote
• Large-Scale Asset Freeze: Of the total US$6.3 billion in exploited funds, Binance immediately worked with major stablecoin issuers such as Tether and Circle to freeze an estimated US$2.7 to US$3 billion of stolen assets on-chain. This step prevents perpetrators from cashing out half of their total loot.
• 100% Compensation Guarantee by Binance: Binance Co-CEO, Richard Teng, immediately confirmed that they have a Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) emergency fund as well as US$6 billion in internal company cash to cover all user losses. This prevents bank runs or prolonged mass panic.
• Fast Recovery of Withdrawal Services: In just about 48 hours, Binance managed to secure their internal systems and gradually reopen withdrawals on November 1, 2026. They also updated the addresses of the Proof of Reserves system to ensure asset transparency.
• Global Legal Intervention: The investigation moved quickly after the FBI and blockchain forensics agencies (such as TRM Labs and Chainalysis) officially identified the elite North Korean hacking group, TraderTraitor (Lazarus Group), as the mastermind behind the attack. This identification helps trace the perpetrator's crypto wallet chain (peel chain) so that other exchanges can filter the flow of illegal funds.

With the points above, Binance users will not panic in this situation, they get a full guarantee of assets being returned intact, the market remains stable.

Binance is not the whole of the Bitcoin world, after the hack they people that would shake are those at binance and it will go even as far as other Crypto-currency exchanges but the cryptocurrency world generally would not shake.

I believe that it is binance that would shake because after the hack everyone who had asset in binance only want one thing and that's to withdraw all their assets, once the news of the hack went mainstream those who were caught were already regretting why they had their funds still on an exchange but binance gave them a hope that they are living up to. The Bitcoin market has grown beyond panicking when an exchange got hacked.

The Bitcoin market has grown beyond panicking when an exchange got hacked.
More exchanges and even wallets has gotten hacked in this year alone and it didn't shake more affected the price of Bitcoin, so I wonder why the case of Binance would have been an exception even if they are a big exchange.

Moreover we learnt that some of the funds stolen wasn't even Bitcoin but stablecoins and they were frozen immediately. I panicked at first and even has to change my receiving address, but with the message notifications I have been receiving from the exchange, I am well assured they are still very much secure to transact with because this ain't the first time they experienced such.

Binance has the advantage of deep liquidity, performed fast emergency action and as noted, the market has matured to absorb these kind of shock. So be rest assured Bitcoin isn't going to shake but rise as at when due.

At first what you should know is that; it wasn't Bitcoin blockchain that was hacked or it wasn't entirely Bitcoin that was stolen, Next, you should also know that those funds stolen from Binance is around $6.3B, which $3b was frozen, and now they are only sourcing for the remaining 3b which I think has no effect on the market. Again, there was no much sells on Bitcoin and if I may know it wasn't only Bitcoin that was stolen from Binance exchange, so the impact wouldn't be that much on the market except for those who doesn't want to lose any dim of their investments that would possibly panicked and sold out their holdings. This is normal and we shouldn't expect the market to drop more than this, and as we know the market is always volatile and it's responding to its activities as a volatile asset and that is what makes it tradable.

I very much agree with you that the major reason why there was no dramatic FUD and massive dump as a result of this Binance record breaking hack was due to their assurance that users funds are safe, and based on the reputation of the exchange we know that they are capable to bounce back so the market didn't react much to the news. If the hackers didn't liquidate the stolen Bitcoin it means that there was no excess supply in the market to warrant a major dip so it shows that Bitcoin holders are rather taking the news quite calmly. What I can add is that due to the recurring hacks in exchanges and casinos this year we were not surprised about another hack although the other hacks cannot be compared to this Binance hack yet it didn't impact on Bitcoin price very much.

Bitcoin is not shaking? Are you sure? What kind of shake were you expecting, bro? It dumped from $81k to $77,500, and that's a pretty good dump of almost 5%. Well, bro, if you think BTC should drop to $50k–$60k or even $70k, then that's just daydreaming.

Because it's not the bad news, but the impact of the bad news. Everyone can now access their funds, so they will probably sell, move their funds out, or convert their alts that are not listed in the first phase into coins that are listed and then withdraw them. This can increase demand for BTC and other listed coins as well, but only temporarily.

It's not something we can trade on, but in my opinion, BTC shook pretty much, bro.

The difference is the exchange that was hacked and their total worth together with how fast Tether and Cycle were to freeze most of the money; they have backup and reserve enough to cover the loss. That's also another reason, but the most important is how the CZ and Binance teams were actively updating the community; there was no much negative reaction, and that total number of stolen assets was not all Bitcoin, which means the thought of it being offloaded by the hackers can send panic.

In the 67 hours Binance was hacked; withdrawals resumed in phases, and Binance says it covered 95% of losses from company funds.

What does it mean? Is it not positive news that Binance is saying they have the investors back, no need for them to worry that their Bitcoin is lost to hackers.

That being said, Bitcoin is gradually pushing upward in price. Before the end this week, the news of the hack will be in past, and people's confidence will return back to the market, like nothing happened.

The main reason bitcoin was not really affected is because Binance did not fall. If Binance collapsed, cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin would have fallen significantly.

I didn't give a thought on this but I also agree with you and I think it's a very valid point to why price didn't crash significantly, if the hack had unfortunately lead to collapse of the exchange, definitely the market would have crashed immensely.

I don't know what else to think, but your opinion are welcome and I stand to be corrected where my idea may be wrong.
The exchange immediately assured users that their funds are safe because they have enough funds to absorb the impact.

Another reason is that Tether, Circle, and several other crypto firms claim that they have frozen close to $3 billion of the stolen funds.

Yes, that's also another valid point. User's had the hope that they will receive their money. I hope they are able to at least recover the $3 billion that has been frozen after all investigation has been done.

I clarified that it didn't dump significantly, that's actually the kind of shake I meant. If it was before, it won't only dump by 5% but more than 10%.  You opinion is valid, it did shook but not as some people like myself thought it would. Yes, I thought it could have crashed to $70k or $65k.

I believe those two actions were apt in steadying strained nerves and anxious minds. In the past, exchanges weren't that swift in coming openly to say what they're doing to arrest the situation. And before they knew what was happening, dumps started happening. Keeping mute about stuff like this doesn't help the matter. Speaking out to douse tension helps a lot.

Frankly speaking (well, writing in this case), I feel less worried about the whole thing. I haven't even bothered to open my Binance app to look around what the situation is with the little funds I've there. I believe the situation is under control.

Bitcoin have grown past where a single incident like that of Binance hack will cause a major crash in price. If it were before, we would have been talking about 10 to 20% drop in orice but gone are thise days  because there are big players now in the market who wouldn't dump their coins that easily. Funny enough some buyers even use the incident to buy the dip and those coins bought at the dip are mostly in profits now.

I also immediately thought there was a sense of trust in Binance within the market when I first considered it. People know they will get their money back and that Binance won't risk damaging its brand. But the truth is, what if they hadn't done that?

There have been plenty of exchanges that didn't, using all kinds of excuses and leaving many people at a loss. There must be more than one reason why Bitcoin has remained so resilient after a hack like this.

There surely was a tremor, if not an earthquake. It might be a lot different if Binance didn't come out and say that they will cover all user funds. They managed to freeze centralized assets, not the decentralized ones.  If it happens a second time on the same exchange (e.g. Binance), it would be disastrous.

With all these hacks going on (due to the fact that it's software), it sure doesn't bode well for the broader cryptocurrency economy.

P/S - Bitcoin did drop 5% and yet to recover.

The 5% decline was just an initial and immediate reaction after traders/investors learn about the hacking incident, fearing that the worst may happen in the next few hours.
The incident didn't leave Bitcoin a negative price impact significantly, because it was not the Bitcoin's network that's been compromised.
After Binance announced that most stolen funds were frozen and assure the users of full compensation on potential losses, only then the market recovered its confidence.

I think some institutions also took advantage of that dip shortly after the incident was reported, so, those buybacks somehow helped Bitcoin from plunging more than 5%.
