I have thought of where to make this post but didn't know the right section to post it. Although, I know that if there is a better place to make you could direct me to move it there.
Back to my question, this year has seems to be the worst year for the crypto space, Duelbits hack, Binance hack, many more hacks that happened on the space. My question is: does it mean that no one can outsmart those hacker?
Why is it that their major targets was on well know sites?
Does it mean that no one can develop a stronger security measures to outsmart those hackers or does it mean that most of the hacks that is happening are from Insider? Or maybe someone who is already in the system are leaking out their information to hacker ?

Again, how do you trust the people that are being employed to work with most of the exchange or gambling site?
What are the strategies to ensure that the staff they are hiring is trusted and can not compromised their duties or works, because it's always said that only those who are Inside that can know the way about the system.

I would want to know, and your response will means a lot to me.

This binance hacking that happened on Thursday is not the first time the crypto exchange point have been under attack and may not  even be the last because as the their is advancement in all aspects same also should we expect such news, although am sure binance will close the gap and such won't repeat itself again.
Statistically looking at the lost of capital experienced over the years, you will realize that it is not only in the crypto world all this are happening it also happens in the traditional banking institutions and there's appears worst because most customers losses there money because the banks finds ot difficult repaying them except the government chooses to intervene on the matter but that of the crypto world is different as the exchange institutions repays investors to maintain there integrity.

My question is: does it mean that no one can outsmart those hacker?
Each bear market have these hacking incidents and that's the sad thing about it but to say that the hackers can't be outsmarted, I don't think so.

It's the employees who have neglected the security of their systems which allowed these hackers to penetrate. They have to be alert at all times since they're in the money business. There is no more room for mistake.

Why is it that their major targets was on well know sites?
They have more money and that's why all eyes are on them.

Does it mean that no one can develop a stronger security measures to outsmart those hackers or does it mean that most of the hacks that is happening are from Insider? Or maybe someone who is already in the system are leaking out their information to hacker ?
Those are possibilities, there's an insider and the security system they have needs some updates but missed it or simply human error and overlooked the dangers of missclicking links.

Again, how do you trust the people that are being employed to work with most of the exchange or gambling site?
What are the strategies to ensure that the staff they are hiring is trusted and can not compromised their duties or works, because it's always said that only those who are Inside that can know the way about the system.
This is out of our scope, these companies need to do certain background checks thoroughly before hiring someone.

Because AFAIK, there are also spies from NK who are pretending to apply for certain jobs and uses fake identities they have hacked until they get the job to do such inside-job.

This does not mean that hackers cannot be caught or will not be caught.  The situation is rather very simple.  Security is a moving target and a lot of times these massive companies get lazy or too confident after a while.  They grow too fast, write terrible codes and do not pay attention to the necessary timely audits until they become victims of a hacker attack.  They always make the mistakes because people are always the weakest link in the chain.

As for your paranoia about insiders leaking everything... I would say you are right, but asking why to trust your employees is overly simplistic.  No one gets a "blank check" of trust the moment they are hired.  Thats why companies use zero-trust technologies, strict compartmentalization, and multi-signature setups so that no worker or dev can destroy everything.

Binance is actually one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges with large customers trust, but this attack on the platform makes it look unreliable for the platform. When people loose money to scammers, they feel discouraged using the same exchange to withdraw money to their bank. Many people trust binance when it comes with trading of cryptocurrency. But storing any amount of Bitcoin could be a very serious challenge in an exchange. At first, .an exchange is likely to liquidate where there is no much fund to carry the activities of investors which is as a result of scammers attack.

This big platforms are the target why because that were the money is. The security teams have to be 100 % right at all time but a hacker is just looking for a single mistake.

Checking things out most of this major hackers don’t actually break blockchain code, all they do is to exploit human weakness through stolen staff passwords or even inside leaks. In security humans are actually always be the weakest. That why to leave your funds on exchanges is really risky. The one way I see to protect you money is through self custody.

You can not tell when scammers or hackers will be planning for your and you may even deployed the best strategy thinking you are safe without knowing that they are also working hard to make sure they break through your platform or site. For me what I think people should be doing is that they should keep updating or upgrading their system all the time so that they wouldn't have penetration from unscrupulous users. No one actually believed what is happening right away but we should be ready for anything at any given time because hacker are also exploring the best technique to use and break-in.

Frankly speaking,  I use to believe that major crypto exchanges and gambling platforms have strong security measures in place to protect users funds and personal information.  But with the way hackers are successfully hacking into platforms and steal users funds and personal information made me to have a rethink about the whole thing.

If I'm mistaken, binance is one of the larger and well established crypto exchange and it has been hacked before and this one would make it the second time.  I expected an exchange of its size and reputation to have a strong security measures in place to prevent such attacks, but it's quite unfortunate that even well established platform are not completely immune to cyber attacks.

When you're a financial company that is as big as Binance you should always be ready for a cyber attack because there would be lots of people who would want to try and attack to find out if they can get a piece of the company's worth.  And my memory serving me well, this ain't the first time Binance is getting hit although not in this amount.

You can't tell when or where your attack would be coming from and this is why I think that it would be extremely difficult to outsmart such coordinated hack. At times having a complete team of faithful and integrity enshrined employees too can actually keep incidents of hacks far away , because some of this hack doesn't just happen independently but with insider aid.

Yes they do have strong security measures but hackers also spend money to buy materials that can attack the exchanges that is why you see them succeeding in what they do. The binance hack has to be something that was well planned by the hackers nobody knows how they managed to get access to the system of binance and you don't expect the company to open up on their lapses. Since the advertisement of of artificial intelligence people can generate different software and bug to attack whoever they plan to attack all the exchanges need to do next is to develop other means to ensure that they are steps ahead of the hackers because they will keep coming back to check if they will succeed after this one.

Lol, Op  Grin.
Also think about this, if it's possible for a programmer to outsmart others, then you shouldn't trust that he's best because, there'll definitely be someone else that's better.
Satoshi understands this fact of the security vulnerability and then made bitcoin source code and open source living it under decentralization while miner's confirms or validates transactions directly in the blockchain.
I haven't heard about the bitcoin core being hacked rather, it's the third party providers service provider's such as the layers 2 that has been hacked.

So the decentralization is the best security measures ever. If hardware wallets can be hacked then what's layer 2 or how do you trust a system where the inventor or programmer has the source code all by themselves?
There's definitely going to be a system of a smartness there but one being outsmart can be outsmarted too.
Note that hackers are also notorious criminals with their sophisticated high level of hacking knowledge.

...

I've always believed that as long as something is created by humans, it will never be perfect. You can't expect that there is a website that is so secure it can't be hacked by anyone. If developers can improve security on their site, there will still be hackers who always try to hack what they've built. It's already an ongoing battle between developers and those who try to exploit their work.
What developers can do is continue to improve their website's security and make sure they don't take it lightly. But still, whatever they do, there's still no guarantee that they can prevent every possible attack. So they have to be ready for any possibility that might happen, and that includes us as users.

Obviously their target is the most popular platforms because they know where the money is.

You are thinking the space is no longer safe but you forgot to consider the possibility of an inside job. I mean, we cannot rule out the possibility that the hack happened because some people inside intentionally leaked vulnerabilities, just like what happened to Binance where the hack was reportedly linked to a compromised employee laptop. so that is an internal security problem, an exchange or casino that is weak in that area will likely get hacked. So I guess it's the regulators' job to ensure that cybersecurity measures are strong enough to protect the users.

It's not new, hacks are not new but the rise of AIs actually have changed many things especially in security and security protections against hacks.
The rise of the machines.
It's clearly that many business companies, even governments (after the Australian Medicare database hacked) are very fearful about upcoming security incidents on their platforms and database as well as treasuries.

The rise of AIs bring benefits together with many emerging risks and actually has changed the world, in security aspect into a more dangerous direction.

Quote
Again, how do you trust the people that are being employed to work with most of the exchange or gambling site?
Companies and governments have their own principles and procedures for selecting people to hire and work with but there is nothing perfect, and with time something can go wrong, people all can make mistakes.

Trust them or not, are they good people as staffs or not, time will create risk opportunity and hackers are patiently enough to set up their security traps and wait for chance of exploitation.

From a small user perspective, I think hacking is not really new, it is just bigger now because the money is bigger. I have used exchanges since 2017 and my rule never changed: an exchange is a place to trade, not a place to store. I only keep a small operational amount there and move the rest to my own wallet where I control the keys.

Also, in my experience most ordinary users do not lose money because a big platform got hacked. They lose it from phishing: fake airdrop links, fake "wallet migration" emails, fake support accounts. I run a small shop and I see these scam links shared in Telegram groups almost every day. So for users like me, the defense is boring but it works: 2FA on, never type your seed phrase anywhere, and treat every "free money" link as guilty until proven innocent.

That's right—as the use of physical cash continues to decline worldwide and digital payments become more prevalent, it was only natural that criminal activity would increasingly shift to the digital realm as well.

But this would also be an example of the shift toward digital crime, although the haul isn't usually as large in these cases.

Yes, no one can outsmart the hackers

The major targets are well known sites because they have huge amount of money. Hackers will want to go for something big.

There could be a stronger security, but the mistake are often from the people. But if it was because of security, what is known as security may not be that secure. No one can beach it is the reason they are saying it has strong security, but nobody actually know if there is no way to breach it.

Developers can make mistakes, get fixed before hackers knowing about it and some the hackers know about it first and see an opportunity.

Some hacks are inside works, but not all.
Yes it is also very possible information can be leaked, but not all.

I trust no one.
They can have any strategies to make their workers not do bad thing, but people are always smart and maybe still be able to do the bad thing.

Are you new to crypto space OP? Hacking isn't new in this space but it gets more intense in 2026 is all, I believe that AI is playing a major role in this hacks because it has gotten more easier since AI becomes reality.

I accept that hacking is now the new game, it's giving people more reasons to become one, there are people who are even considering hacking as a way of life than doing the harder jobs or learning other skills.

All I want to say is AI makes hacking a lot more easier I hope a solution comes quicker or more pain is still ahead, this is just the beginning to this hacks, it's Binance turn right now and we don't know who will be next.

1. The list of attacks this year is long and varied. Criminals hit exchanges, gambling sites, hardware wallets, even individual investors, and others but I don't think this is the worst year. The Binance hack may be the largest ever, but it didn't bring down the exchange. I don't consider this the worst simply on the basis that among the major ones none closed shop due to the attacks.

2. Security and breaches are always a cat-and-mouse game. It's always a race, and sometimes bad actors get a step ahead. It doesn't mean they're outsmarting security systems, though. It's just that sometimes they're lucky enough to find a loophole they quickly take advantage of. And it's easier these days because of certain technological developments. But they're far winning.

I also wonder...why can't governments go after these hackers, since they have the resources for it
