Most of the comments I have seen in the discussions relating to all these hacks is only point to AI as the main factor that is making increasing the success rate of these hacks. Now, the OP also pointed something that I have thought about too and that's assistance by workers in that company. I feel that workers in the company could have hands in some of the hacks that has happened, they could provide more leads for the hackers or even be the ones to plant the attack while the hackers handles it afterward.

@OP, about your question if no one can develop a  stranger security measure, the answer is that developers are working at the background and I still have hope that in no time, the hack will reduce.

I have thought of where to make this post but didn't know the right section to post it. Although, I know that if there is a better place to make you could direct me to move it there.Back to my question, this year has seems to be the worst year for the crypto space, Duelbits hack, Binance hack, many more hacks that happened on the space.
Exchange hacks and casinos are nothing new; they have been happening for a long time. It’s just that this year there have been many hacks on various platforms. It is expected that centralized exchanges and casino hacks can happen at any time, and I am not surprised about it. The reason why there haven't been as many hacks like those of this year is that developers are becoming more advanced, and in the same way, hackers are also becoming more advanced at breaking into exchanges and other crypto platforms. This is nothing new.

Back to my question, this year has seems to be the worst year for the crypto space, Duelbits hack, Binance hack, many more hacks that happened on the space. My question is: does it mean that no one can outsmart those hacker?

There's no platform that's truly secure and free from security threats. Even though developers continuously improve their security, hackers will still keep trying to break into their systems.

Quote
Why is it that their major targets was on well know sites?

This is because of the money, since popular sites usually have funds they can target. It can also boost their reputation, as successfully hacking a well-known site is usually more difficult, and if successful, it proves their skills.

Quote
Does it mean that no one can develop a stronger security measures to outsmart those hackers or does it mean that most of the hacks that is happening are from Insider? Or maybe someone who is already in the system are leaking out their information to hacker ?

It could be from insiders, but it could also be because the site's security is weak, making it exploitable by hackers. No matter how hard developers try, the most they can do is improve their security and minimize the potential for hacking. They can't make a site completely safe from every possible threat.

Quote
Again, how do you trust the people that are being employed to work with most of the exchange or gambling site?
What are the strategies to ensure that the staff they are hiring is trusted and can not compromised their duties or works

I have no business with anyone who works on the sites I use. It's the site owners' responsibility to employ trustworthy people who won't exploit their sites.

How exactly do you outsmart someone who has already successfully outsmarted you?. These hackers are very good at what they do, and afaik, they spend a lot of time identifying or creating vulnerabilities/loopholes. And the reason why they target major exchanges is because they get to walk away with bigger rewards... The bigger the victim, the bigger the reward. And sometimes, all they have to do is to target key individuals working for these establishments.

And In regards to security... Well, I don't think there's a one-time security protocol that can effectively protect an establishment. There will always be vulnerability at some point, and that's why these institutions employ cybersecurity experts. And even with these experts in place, they still suffer severe cyberattacks.

I think maybe there's a certain flaw in design exploited upon first notice that was discovered in the systems after the first few hacks happened and it turns out that the other affected sites had same flaws in their system without noticing and these hackers being relentless just kept discovering them and exploiting them to their selfish benefits.

Otherwise, how could you explain the almost frequent increase in consistent hacking that has been ongoing, if there wasn't a specific information that pointed out a flaw in the design system that could be exploited without much security challenges?

Hacking was never a new game. It has being for existence.  It is illegal when you are not authorised to do so. The way this illegal hackers are, they made the well professionals look useless.  Most of the times with the resent hacks, they never needed someone in the inside.

Some employers do very thorough background search on the people they want to recruit. You never might know what pandemic is next.

Internet cybersecurity creates programs that can shut down the hackers' tools, then the hacker creates a program that will outsmart the cybersecurity program.  It is a cycle, so it is not correct to assme that no one can outsmart those hackers.

Quote
Why is it that their major targets was on well know sites?

Hackers target popular sites for bigger hauls.  The bigger the site is, especially exchanges or other financial platforms, the more money they can steal.  Aside from that, some hacker are fond of getting popular, another reason why they target well-known sites.

Quote

No, it does not mean that no one can develop stronger security measures.  As a matter of fact cybersecurity develop stronger protocols that can detect and resist current hacking tools but along the development, hackers can also create script that can find glitches, weakness and flaws on the implemented security. Then the security team develops patches and firewalls to fix those vulnerabilities and block hackers, and the cycle goes on.

In one other similar thread, I wrote that if these crypto exchanges don’t do something about their security infrastructure now because they feel like they have some reserve funds somewhere to replace whatever amount that is stolen by hackers, someday, the hackers will run them out of business.
These hackers are an opportunity because it reveals the a critical area of vulnerability that must be fixed as a matter of urgency. Sadly, if this becomes the new normal, no customer will take them seriously again because you want to go where you know you are safe not where you’re not sure if your funds will be hacked every other year.

But there is no news that someone bitcoin wallet has been hacked directly. And when an organization is hacked, it is because of their security weaknesses. But by hacking big companies, hackers first get a huge amount of money financially. And when popular companies are hacked, the price of the most popular cryptocurrencies in the entire crypto market suddenly decreases. Which we noticed on the day of the Binance hacking. They try to take additional opportunities from here too.

Because if the price of a cryptocurrency can be reduced by 10% by manipulating the market, then even for that short period of time, you can buy cryptocurrency at a lower price. Over time, those cryptocurrencies usually recover their value again.

And since it is possible to withdraw billions of dollars from cryptocurrency through hacking, where it is not possible for ordinary people to earn that amount of money, it is possible that the government of a country secretly hires hackers or works with them, which benefits the government of that country. For example, after the Binance hacking, the name of North Korea came up. Many people are expressing their opinion on social media that the North Korean president is behind this.

Hackers don’t target platforms that are not well established, there are lots of well established companies like exchanges and casinos those ones are the target of hackers.Binance is known for it’s high repute and it’s doing pretty well in the industry, probably their security measures are top notch and hackers may have been trying to penetrate into the platform till they hit the weaknesses of the platform, hackers are known to always keep trying till they achieve their goals. So my honest opinion is for those big platforms to continue tightening their security measures,it’s certain that an organization can’t be completely free from hack but that shouldn’t stop them from updating their security measures because those hackers out there aren’t relenting in penetrating into big companies.

I guess it depends on the hackers. Hackers have different skill set than others and I think there are hackers that aren't on the same level as the ones who hacked binance which is why they are trying to target small but relative crypto exchanges, those who have security that they can penetrate. We can assume that binance has the top security level as we can assume they spend a lot more on security since they have history with hacking but yeah, these hackers still finds a way to penetrate. Targetting those small to mid exchanges means you will only get a not so big amount compared to those who were in the top but I'm guessing that the security of those are no match to the top exchanges like binance.

At the end of the day, "no system is safe". The technology is rapidly evolving, new implementation on the system means new vulnerabilities. These companies protect their funds to the highest level as they can and we know that they don't spend a petty amount of money for their security, given how much hacking incidents we are having today.

I won't say hacking is the new game. And most at times it seems most hack comes from inside but sometimes it doesn't, the crypto space is very big and it becomes the target for hacker but the year has being the worse so far and enough reason to be worried making it looks like the hackers are from within and has become a threat to the crypto space

Hackers targeting exchanges and casinos is not a new thing, we had seen the worst hack in 2014 itself with Mt Gox incident and the hacks were happening after that too. We developed strong security measures than the past which doesn't means no one can hack it and hackers also getting better at it, so they should keep watching for any vulnerabilities in the system and for that they need to have experts in handling the issue than just someone with the qualification.

Not completely an AI's doing, but correct me if I'm wrong, AI is smarter than us. We might be wrong to point it out as the main tool for many hacking incidents, but we can't set it aside. Of course, this seems impossible for normal people, but for those who already have deep knowledge of coding, that really gives them a huge help.

For attackers/hackers, they won't let it slide easily. That is why it becomes a big challenge for now for all to know how to build a higher and more secure defense of their assets.

Outsmarting the hackers is something that happens everyday, otherwise, you'd be hearing news of hacks everyday. Do not think that the success rate of these hacks is as high as the actual probes and attacks that these platforms resist daily. It's just that once in a while, a hacker discovers what the exchange or protocol either overlooked or didn't know was there.
Quote
Why is it that their major targets was on well know sites?
That's because the money is in those popular plaforms. They have to go throuigh those sites to reach the money.
Quote

Someone can, and they actually have some platforms that the hackers have so far been unable to breach, but we don't really count on that. Hacks are not necessarily from the "inside" although the humans are also a weak link in the security chain. A weak password, a breached or partially implemented protocol, social engineering are all vectors that can be exploited by a hacker.

Quote
Again, how do you trust the people that are being employed to work with most of the exchange or gambling site? What are the strategies to ensure that the staff they are hiring is trusted and can not compromised their duties or works, because it's always said that only those who are Inside that can know the way about the system.

You vet them to make sure they have no affinity to organized criminal syndicates. Hackers do not necessarily need staff of an organization to attack it. They have several attack interfaces to probe for flaws.

I would want to know, and your response will means a lot to me.

The response you will get which I have gone through are mostly generic, no hacker on Bitcointalk will tell you how they hack exchanges and wallet, even scammers will not tell you because that's what they depend on to get victims. But here is what I can tell you, hacker are not wizard or special people with some ethical knowledge, they are just like normal people that are knowledgeable like devs you know, they look into places where there is money and exploit them when they see vulnerabilities.

You did remember the Coldcard wallet, somebody found the seed phrase where not strong and they used AI to steal coins on all the possible private keys they could generate and move out all the coins they find in the wallet address. If you read through the centralized exchanges that were hacked since 2025 to now, it's about vulnerability found one place and they used it to steal millions of dollars coin before the exchanges know about it.

I have thought of where to make this post but didn't know the right section to post it. Although, I know that if there is a better place to make you could direct me to move it there.
Back to my question, this year has seems to be the worst year for the crypto space, Duelbits hack, Binance hack, many more hacks that happened on the space. My question is: does it mean that no one can outsmart those hacker?
Why is it that their major targets was on well know sites?
Does it mean that no one can develop a stronger security measures to outsmart those hackers or does it mean that most of the hacks that is happening are from Insider? Or maybe someone who is already in the system are leaking out their information to hacker ?

Again, how do you trust the people that are being employed to work with most of the exchange or gambling site?
What are the strategies to ensure that the staff they are hiring is trusted and can not compromised their duties or works, because it's always said that only those who are Inside that can know the way about the system.

I would want to know, and your response will means a lot to me.
You raised a valid point. According to my view hacking is not a new game, it has always been an interesting activity for hackers. There is no system that is 100% valid or efficient, all these have some type of loopholes in itself.

why well known sites get hacked??? Because Hackers always attack larger platforms for greater profit, attack on small platform makes no sense.

I think so cold security pattern would be efficient to some extent in this way.

About insiders: yes, this threat is real and this threat is exagerating the situation further....

According to the monitoring site, the amount lost in 2026 is $8.8B across 327 incidents. And consider these the minimum figures, and 2026 is still going. We have two months left, and who knows how many more hacks there will be? A total of around $20B has been hacked from crypto so far.

Haha, I don't know about hackers' smartness and if there are people who can outsmart them in all of the hacks, but I can still bet on Polymarket, if I were into betting, that before December another hack might surely happen.

There are 365 days in a year, and almost 327 incidents have already occurred, haha. So you can estimate what can happen in the next two months, but I hope hackers can outsmart all of them. Let's see, but AI is the main reason for all this.

Hackers continuously check their targets systems to see if they can find or create any loopholes in those systems. Whenever they find a loophole they start their operation. This means the platforms where hackers haven't found or managed to create any loopholes have already outsmarted those hackers. These hackers are very clever. They specifically hack crypto related companies so that no one can trace them. We may see even more hacks since no one is able to catch them.

Hacking was never a new game. It has being for existence.  It is illegal when you are not authorised to do so. The way this illegal hackers are, they made the well professionals look useless.  Most of the times with the resent hacks, they never needed someone in the inside.
How did you know they the hackers never needed someone from the inside? Did the hackers released any official statements of how their hacking operations went? Hackers will always exploit the weaknesses of an insider. Sometimes these insiders might not even be aware that they are dealing with hackers or aiding hacking. It could just be an ordinary person they interact with or someone they are comfortable with, that might end up obtaining vital information from them and sell to hackers. The thing is that there is always weakness that hackers do exploit in order to gain access to the platform they want to hack.

Some employers do very thorough background search on the people they want to recruit. You never might know what pandemic is next.
People might have a clean background before they get employed, but change their ways after they have been employed. Don’t be deceived by this background check talks. An employee with good background check, with no history of criminal records, can become greedy overnight and decide to snitch on the company. Remember that an employee can also be blackmailed into doing something they haven’t done before.
