Because when a trader loses it trades when trading it creates a mindset of frustration in the traders mind that makes the trader to start chasing its losses by risking more funds to place more impulsive trades just to recover back it loss funds. This situation makes the trader to be so addicted to trade due to how desperate he is to trade back his lost money at all costs. And also since the trading market operates 24/7 with non stop and it never closes it makes traders to trade on a regular basises any time they want which results to placing frequent unplanned trade out of excitement because the trading market is always open and active anytime, any day they want to have access to it to trade which at the end will make them become so addictive to trading. So I think trading can be addictive just like gambling.

This is not about anyone should agree or not agree with you as there are trader seeking for rehabilitation. Even in crypto trading, some people seek for rehabilitation. There are many traders that are trading but do not seek for rehabilitation. Trading can be as addictive as gambling and it is not a good thing at all.

I wrote a topic some times ago, explaining one of the reason behind addiction: Loss Aversion: A Critical Factor for Responsible Gambling. Although it was related to gambling, but it is clearly relevant to trading as well. However, this kind of addiction is probably limited to short term trading which is -ve game just like gambling. You are just making bets on random noise and trading fees are acting like a house edge. Long term investing however is a totally different game.

That's one of the similarities between trading and gambling, we have made such references many time in the gambling board and also in some topics that were previously discussed on this board, like the ones listed above by Ziskinberg. Most people see trading as a quick source of income and that's why they end up getting addicted to it, fighting the market and relying only on luck instead of trading with a good strategy and also being patient.

You are absolutely right, this is not a matter of agreement or disagreement. In fact some people become so consumed in trading that they forget to regulate their trading schedule and how much money they actually risk. I have always viewed trading as gambling but just in a different form, most especially when people begin to take risks without being able to control it and they hope to make back what they lost, that end up becoming a gambling. No doubt some traders may be profiting off it, but doesn't change the fact that it can become addictive just like gambling.

There are different types of trading markets, and not all of them operate 24/7. If you are referring to the crypto market, then I agree because it runs 24/7.The problem is not the market, it's the trader. A good trader has rules and stays disciplined, whether they are winning or losing. Just because you are on a losing streak doesn't mean you should start taking trades without following your risk management plan. The market doesn't care about our emotions. It will gladly take your capital and turn you into liquidity for other traders. You can become addicted to Forex trading, but there is a good and bad side to it. Most people enjoy that feeling during their profitable stages because they simply don't want to stop trading. But when you are consistently losing, the best thing to do is step away and take a break. There is no point in forcing trades just to prove to yourself that the market was wrong. The only thing you will achieve is damaging your mental health and losing more money. Personally, I think losing money in trading hits harder than losing money in gambling.

Too much of everything is bad. When you trade excessively, you will definitely get addicted because of the urge of making profit from trading. It's unprofessional traders that thinks every time is the best time to open a position and that put him at high risk of losses and getting addicted.
Only open a trade when you understand the market so that, you can control your trading activities and limit your losses.

Cryptocurrency trading have the same feelings with gambling and the ability to get someone addicted to it, this is why we often warn some traders to only limit their gambling activities to spot trades alone instead combining both sport trading and features trade. Crypto traders must know that, future trades five you same experience as gambling and if you are not careful you become addicted to chasing only one side which is same chasing your winning in gambling this lead to unfriendly outcome of the gambling activities.

Do you agree with me that people can get addicted to trading just like gambling or You don't agree? Anything that people do to an excessive degree over a long period can lead to an addiction. This can even apply to food; if someone spends every single day eating constantly, after many months they may become addicted to food to the point where they are no longer able to stop. We all enjoy eating good food, so why would someone become addicted to it? The answer is simple: addiction doesn't just arise in relation to things we dislike; rather, it develops when we engage in an activity so frequently and consistently that we find ourselves unable to go without it. Consequently, even if a person were to become a billionaire through trading experiencing success every single day they could still end up addicted to it. While they might amass great wealth and be admired by others as an exemplary individual, no one would realize that they had become addicted to trading and were in urgent need of psychological help. The greatest danger of any addiction is the inability to live without the very thing to which one has become addicted.

Your topic title looks more of a simple question that requires straight answer, and before I know you have already answered everything yourself. Lol, that's good, or maybe you want to hear from us. Haven't said that. Trading is very much addictable just like gambling. If you don't control your emotions when in lost or bad times, you definitely going to be addicted no two ways about it. Again, if you don't follow or go by your bankroll management rules and also discipline your mind, addiction is inevitable. Therefore, it is important we always trade with the amount we can afford to lose because nothing is sure in trading, just like gamble.

Like Ziskinberg already mentioned, we had a lot of similar threads about the issue of trading addiction. OP, you should search whether there has already been a discussion on the issue in the forum before creating a new thread in order to minimize the amount of unnecessary and repetitive discussion. Moreover, I see that you even commented in one such thread recently (less than a month ago)... Why are you starting a new thread for, essentially, the same thing? This is from the " trading addiction" topic: Trading addiction is as dangerous as gambling addiction because it possesses severe risk to traders that ruins and leads to the destruction of a traders lives financially and emotionally because of trying to recover losses from loss trade which triggers a trader to trade with its emotions instead of abiding to its strategic trading plan just to recover it losses which at the end may result to more loss because he is trading with his emotions instead of making use of his strategic trading plan to trade. And most traders don't know this as an addiction because they see trading as a smart financial activity or career choice of generating income for a living.

I’ve come to understand that people get addicted to even the most mundane stuffs. I’ve heard of people getting addicted to video games, to the point that it affected every area of their life negatively of course— video games are meant to be something that make people feel relaxed and basically no serious cost, but still still get addicted to it. Now let’s come to trading, if people can get addicted to gambling, then trading obviously isn’t a topic that should be argued about whether it’s possible for people to get addicted to it or not, because both subjects share more striking similarities than we can imagine, and that’s not even a subject for argument.

The most important thing in trading is to learn to control your emotions and greed. When someone trades, they need to have a specific plan. If you lose on a trade, it is not right to trade again with a large amount of money in the hope of quickly recovering that money. Instead, you should take a break for some time and analyze the previous mistake. Because instead of learning from losses, if you take bigger risks out of greed, a small profit can turn into a big financial loss. Ultimately, it is much more important to protect your capital and make decisions patiently at the right time than to be active in the market every day. No matter how experienced a trader is, he must acquire the ability to accept losses. Traders who cannot accept losses cannot control their emotions in trading. Trading without control is like gambling.

It is unfortunate that many traders are not aware that one can be addicted to trading. This is why knowledge is the most paramount thing, and if you are just doing it because you want to make a profit by all means, you can be badly affected. Trading is all about loss and profit, and it is important to stick to your limit and trade with what you can afford to lose.

Addiction is a psychological impact on the brain and it comes in many forms because even babies get addicted to sucking their fingers, so why should gambling or trading or watching too much tv or doomscrolling through social media be any different? It's just a matter of what gets your attention the most and in this case it's between gambling and trading both of which share similarities but differ in strategy and execution. So yes, people get addicted to trading just as they do gambling mostly as the lure or greed for more money is at stake. However, with risk management practices and time management and other discipline in play, it becomes easy to control and make better sense of it.

I guess we have already discussed here about trading addiction and that greedy traders will always have high chances to become trading addicts if they continuously trade on their emotions. There is no difference with gamblers as they could also fall into gambling addiction if they let their greed and emotions continue to rule out over their rational thinking. This is why we don't have to marry our coins and trade only as a means of side income, since completely dependent on trading alone brings high risk and unsustainable flow of income.

To some extent, traders are like gamblers, they find it hard to control their emotions when they experience winning or losing streak. So if gambling addiction exist for gamblers, then I would agree as well that trading addiction is very possible with traders.
Most of the traders nowadays are no longer trading because they know how the market moves, they have their skills and good strategies, but because they want to take revenge in the market after a huge loss in trading. And this revenge trading will only pave way for trading addiction, but of course they won't accept that because for them, they are just trading for profits, they aren't trading addicts.

Personally, I agree with your assumption. It's true, for example, that if trading is not accompanied by adequate risk management and analytical skills, sooner or later such a trader will inevitably fall into losses and ultimately seek to recoup their capital. But in my opinion, addiction in trading can be divided into two forms: some trading addictions lead to positive outcomes, while others lead to negative outcomes. For example, many great traders have been involved in trading for years. This can certainly be considered an addiction, but it's a well-controlled addiction. However, negative addictions clearly apply to those who start trading and experience losses, ultimately recouping their trading capital by continually adding more. This is extremely dangerous and should not be imitated by anyone. In trading, there's no such thing as revenge if you lose. Because that way, we can certainly manage risk effectively. So, in conclusion, trading can indeed make us addicted, but the pattern is different from gambling, in essence there are several differences.

It is quite natural that if a person trades excessively and cannot control himself, he will become addicted. Just like in gambling, if you bet too often, you start getting addicted, the same can happen in trading. There are many traders who do not control themselves, but they use excessive money and trade out of discipline, as a result of which they lose a lot of money and at some point they become emotional. Therefore, like trading and gambling, a person can be pushed towards addiction, so try to be very careful in both places so that at least some of your control remains.
