I guess we have already discussed here about trading addiction and that greedy traders will always have high chances to become trading addicts if they continuously trade on their emotions. There is no difference with gamblers as they could also fall into gambling addiction if they let their greed and emotions continue to rule out over their rational thinking.

This is why we don't have to marry our coins and trade only as a means of side income, since completely dependent on trading alone brings high risk and unsustainable flow of income.

We've been over this topic countless times already, as another member pointed out.

Addiction is about losing control of your behavior and rational thinking, not the tool itself. So being fully committed to crypto does not decide whether you get addicted or not. You can still get hooked on trading even if you only spend few hour a day doing it. On the flip side, there's nothing wrong with trading frequently as long as you can keep yourself in check.
What matters is self control, not how much time you spend trading or whether you do it fulltime or just on the side.

Those that are likely to be addicted to trading are the people that are trading very frequently.  Trading frequently is not something that is very good. Those that are trading frequently are the people that lose most in trading. It is time consuming, it can be unhealthy, it can affect the traders health and so on and it can become addiction. The topic has been discussed before, but gambling addiction discussion is far more than this.

Even positive activities like exercise can also become addictive. Addiction is experienced by people who engage in activities excessively, which can eventually have harmful effects.
The same goes for trading; some even say that an addiction to trading can be worse than a gambling addiction. In gambling, you know that luck has a major factor that can stop you. But in trading, the trader's ego, who feels they are certainly going to profit, is actually the real trap. They have a little skill and think they are the most expert at trading. You have certainly seen people like that.

Addiction to trading is a real thing, my issue is: "is it really a bad thing to be addicted to trading? Because unless it's negatively affecting the trader's day to day life, I don't see a problem with it. There are multiple trading styles and even more when you consider the fact that each trader customizes said style to their individual personality and goals.

I think so long as you're meeting the goal, you can't have too much.

Nope, addiction is a problem in itself. You do not have to wait until it starts seriously messing up your life before calling it bad.

No matter what results you're getting, if you have lost control of your behaviour and it's turning your life upside down, you can't call that a good thing.
Besides,  just because you're still making money and haven't experienced any negative consequences doesn't mean it's healthy .  Those consequences may simply not have shown up yet, but that doesn't mean they won't down the road.

There's a reason addiction has always been frowned upon .  So being profitable doesn't turn an addiction into something good.

I see no reason to disagree here. I have seen many stories of people who have been trading for years but cannot make a profit, rather I have heard that they are losing money but still cannot quit trading, so why do they keep trading even if they are not making a profit? Of course they are addicted to trading. If you trade addicted to trading, you will never get good results.
Anyway, personally, a few days ago I became addicted to trading because I used to open long or short positions very often, I used to continue futures trading even when I was losing money. For now, I have stopped doing all types of trading.
One can be addicted to trading but it should not be compared to gambling, unless he gets involved in futures trading.

The chances of getting addicted to trading depend on how much trading knowledge you have. If you are a new trader, trading will be very dangerous for you. To gain experience in trading, you will have to be involved in the market a lot of the time. I will not advise you to trade, rather I will advise you to invest for the long term and learn about the market.

Trading can be frustrating most of the time because the market is not always bullish. Strategically, you have to buy when the market is falling and sell when the price is rising. You have to spend a long time to build this process and you cannot expect quick profits.

Trading has addictive risks like gambling but if you can adopt a risk-tolerant strategy, the risks will be reduced to a great extent. Trade with funds that will not affect your finances even if you keep them in your portfolio for the long term. And be financially prepared not to sell at a loss.

You can be addicted to anything, not just gambling. The difference is that some addictions are worse than others, and some people are more easily addicted to some than others. People get addicted to trading, but not nearly as much as people get addicted to gambling. I have never seen anyone suffering from a gambling trading addiction, but I know it is possible. Gambling is easy. Anybody can gamble, but trading is a skill that needs to be learnt, so it's normal that there are not many addicts. Another thing is that if you have the right knowledge about trading, there is almost no chance of you becoming an addict. The reason people easily get addicted to gambling is that it's a game of chance, so people have the idea that the more you bet, the more your chances of winning.

You can get addicted to virtually anything in life, so this shouldn't be a strong debate for whether or not people could get addicted to trading; it's obvious.

However, there is a distinction, trading is more formal and financially demanding than gambling. This get people discouraged sooner than gambling, and hence, get healed of their addiction before it aggravates. With trading, you need a good amount of money for you to earn reasonably, but in gambling, you can just start with $2-$5 dollars and repeating the process until you get addicted.

But imagine you invested between $500-5000 in trading and lost it 2-5 times. I am sure you wouldn't need a preacher to tell you that you are reckless. That brunt chases people away easily.

Seems like you are not getting what the meaning of addiction is, when they said one is addicted to something then it more like them glued to such thing and they can’t avoid it no matter what they will still keep doing that thing. And in trading when a trader is addicted then they don’t care about the losses they are facing and they don’t care if they are making losses all week they will still keep coming at it and at some point they don’t even care about making analysis they just go into the market and start selling since the market price is dropping. And a trader who do such will always keep losing and wasting resources and with time goes on they will end up drained totally. Addiction isn’t a positive thing at all.

OP make sense here. The real sign is when someone is already in huge losses and still keep opening trades, or even got into debt because of trading (many traders can relate here especially most of new traders experiences or mistakes).
That hope after a lose streak is what pulls people back, I already feel that sometimes lol.

If they know the trading market is always open, they should stop trading and not recover the lost fund. The emotions when they lost will become high and that makes them difficult to think clear how to recover. But if they can aware and stop for a while, they could take a deep breath while analyze the mistake so they can fix it.

Trading could be addictive like gambling so people should avoid it by having control. They can enter the market anytime and recover the lost so they don't have to forcing themselves to recover at the moment.

Trading can indeed be addictive, but the context you discussed above isn’t about someone becoming addicted it’s about an irresponsible trader. When someone cannot accept the risks of an activity, it means they are either irresponsible or unable to accept the consequences of that activity.
Addiction is when someone always wants to achieve the same result for example, a trader who has successfully made a profit and wants to keep trading to achieve the same result.

Because when a trader loses it trades when trading it creates a mindset of frustration in the traders mind that makes the trader to start chasing its losses by risking more funds to place more impulsive trades just to recover back it loss funds. This situation makes the trader to be so addicted to trade due to how desperate he is to trade back his lost money at all costs. And also since the trading market operates 24/7 with non stop and it never closes it makes traders to trade on a regular basises any time they want which results to placing frequent unplanned trade out of excitement because the trading market is always open and active anytime, any day they want to have access to it to trade which at the end will make them become so addictive to trading.
So I think trading can be addictive just like gambling.

Do you agree with me that people can get addicted to trading just like gambling or You don't agree?
Share Your own opinions and thoughts.

Of course this kind of practice can lead to addiction. Addiction usually stems from emotional distress and that's why when a trader losses money and  chase after his loss they begin to get emotional and start to make decisions that will affect them later or lead to loss of more money. If this happens continuously and frequently it can easily lead to addiction because you will always tempted to keep trading and going after your loss.
I agree anything that involves placing money to predict in order to get some returns can lead to addiction so trading can lead to addiction just like gambling if not done responsibly.

Hmm.. if you are genuinely addicted to trading , I doubt you'd be able to just walk away whenever you wanted. Sheer willpower alone probably wouldn't  cut it.
Chasing losses isn't enough to call it addiction , imo.
And hey, the fact you could stop in time actually shows you're not addicted.
One of the signs of addiction is not being able to control or stop the behavior even when you know the damage it's doing.
One can be addicted to trading but it should not be compared to gambling, unless he gets involved in futures trading.
Addiction is addiction, mate. There's no such thing as a "good" addiction or a "bad" one. As you said yourself, once you're hooked, you're not gonna get good results out of it anyway.
So hooked on gambling or hooked on trading, there's not much difference between the two.
Tomato, tomahto, lol.

The reason why this happens is because most traders usually set them self up by having a profit target which they set. You will see trader with a certain profit target that they wish to achieve either in one week or month and we all know that in trading you cannot always have this target always reached. Personally I will always say that this one of the major reasons we see traders falling to temptation of trading and trading even in periods of losses just to recover back their money and also meet their profit target and this affects their emotions and seriously it can lead to addiction too.

Setting a target of earning a certain amount of profit within a certain period of time in trading is often a big problem for traders. The market does not move according to a person's expectations or the set timeframe. A trader can set a target of 5% or 10% profit per week if he wants. But if the market conditions are not favorable, it may not be possible to achieve that target. Many people cannot accept this naturally. The goal of a trader should not be to earn a certain amount of money within a certain period of time. To follow your trading strategy properly and avoid unnecessary trades. You should give more importance to your process, discipline and capital protection than the profit target. To survive in the long term, you have to control the risk in every decision.

Self-control is very important whether you are trading or gambling. In gambling, people who have self control and never keep on gambling to cover their loses or in greed of getting more money prevent themselves from harmful side effects of gambling. Likewise, we do trading to earn money but there are few trading rules which we have to learn first in order to get profit. Those who got addicted to trading are not able to understand how important it is to stay disciplined, for such people loss is inevitable no matter whether they are in gambling or trading.

I don't think I will ever view trading as gambling because they are different in a way, I know that emotions are tied to both of them but as someone who wants to learn they will always find trading to be better.

There is nothing to learn in gambling than protecting your money and your mindset to avoid getting addicted, it's same with trading too but there is a catch, on trading there is actually things to learn.

How to use tools to your own advantage, learning how to place the bet to limit the risk of losing everything like use of stoploss feature, there is no such thing in gambling, it's you and your total prediction.

Yes, it is very possible for a trader to become addicted like a gambling addict. In fact, there are many traders who are addicted and cannot stop completely, just like addicted gamblers.

If a trader is not disciplined and responsible, he will become like a gambler, driven by his emotions, especially greed, and will be driven by his losses without a clear and strict strategy, without risk management, and perhaps even without market analysis or research.
