How did people get addicted to gambling.
1. The first win they had.
You made very good points, but I do not think this is among the reason anyone can become addicted to gambling. If 100 people gamble, 20 among them may likely later be addicted to gambling, but among them are some people that first lost money while gambling. Some people among the 100 people first won, but later they saw that they are only losing and they reduce the amount of money they are using to gamble. The main reason people get addicted to something related to money is because they think they can make money from the the thing.

The reason why I included it is because when you start gambling newly and the first bet you played you won believe me you will be eager to play more and when you play more and then starts losing you will also want to recover all that you have lost and that is how you get addicted to gambling, it is not everyone that will start losing and stop gambling immediately, majority will always try to win back all the money they have lost.

For me addiction process starts the moment you start winning but to some people it’s the moment you start losing.

Yeah that’s true.

Snip.

Do you agree with me that people can get addicted to trading just like gambling or You don't agree?
Share Your own opinions and thoughts.

Yes, I agree, trading and gambling are three of the same things that play a role in money, profit, and loss. Trading addiction is actually experienced by many people, but they deny it, looking at charts all the time, watching the news, and anything closely related to trading. True traders don't do all of that all the time; they just watch, analyze, and take positions. After that, they will move on to other activities. The goal is to avoid always opening new positions. Continuous viewing encourages us to always open positions.

Hmmm, this has already been discussed so many time......

But still I will share my taught regarding through this topic.....
Every time people got addicted to those which can be utilize in easy way like in gambling you will nothing to do. Just luck will decided your results and that's why ppl just got stuck with gambling. On the hand trading is different it's need proper analysis and here beginner came up on same view as gambling like "I will took trade or it will give me profit or blah blah blah...

But they end up in lose because it's trading. It doesn't need obsession like only right analysis will help you to give you the profit. Professional trader never trade in every single candle they wait for right setup and simply that's the reason which make them different form gambler.

I don't think that there's such thing as a trading addiction and the reason why I'm saying that Is because a lot of people assume that being consistent in trading is the same thing as getting addicted but the mentality of a gambler and a trader are different. Traders that understand what they are doing follow principles and a plan unlike gamblers that are only focused on making quick profits or becoming rich from it overnight.

Anything in excess is bad. Whether it's trading or gambling, if you can't control yourself, there's a chance you could become addicted. That's why self-control exists. When you have self-control, you'll know your limits and understand when it's time to stop when needed. Whether you're at a loss or in profit, you'll just stop and won't continue messing up what you've already set up.
When we talk about excessive trading the context of it is actually overtrading or re-trading, this is what's known as going overboard as a trader without any self control.

I strongly doubt that people get addicted to trading just like gambling. Because if you are to investigate properly, you will notice that the total population of the number of people who trade is not up to 0.1% of the total number of people who gamble globally. Due to the fact that trading is unlike gambling, whose outcome is as a result is a product of random algorithm. But rather, a product of you having solid knowledge over the asset you or the commodity you intend to trade.

Because when a trader loses it trades when trading it creates a mindset of frustration in the traders mind that makes the trader to start chasing its losses by risking more funds to place more impulsive trades just to recover back it loss funds.
As a trader, make sure you trade with any amount which you can afford to lose, avoid revenge trading, because you just going to end up losing more instead of you recovering back your money, because you won’t be able to properly do your analysis as a trader. If you try to win back your loss, you going to be losing more money, and you just going to find it difficult to stop, you will want to continue trading hoping to recover all what you have lost.

This situation makes the trader to be so addicted to trade due to how desperate he is to trade back his lost money at all costs
I have been addicted to trading before, I had the experience before, and am going to tell you it was a terrible experience for me, and it’s something which I won’t want to involve myself in again. As a trader, try your possible best to avoid addiction, don’t be too desperate to make money.

So I think trading can be addictive just like gambling.

Do you agree with me that people can get addicted to trading just like gambling or You don't agree?

Trading could only be "addictive" only if you have the wrong mindset.

No discipline? Trading could be addictive.
Chasing losses? Trading could be addictive.

The desire to win makes it addictive just like what you think. There are many things that could make it addictive, but if you have self-awareness, knows how to control your emotions and knows when to stop, I think it will not come to a point where you will get addicted into it. Trading could be as addictive as gambling, but unlike gambling, you can prevent yourself from being one. Well, I will be a hypocrite if I say that I'm not at one point because I always want to end the day with a profit, I chase my losses even though I'm on a losing streak already. Obviously that didn't work, and it cost me hundreds of buckos, and got liquidated several times. Lack of self-awareness lead me to liquidation, and that's a lesson learned for me.

The desire to make money makes it addictive, and I know that we are trading just to make money, but don't forget that there will be bad days and good days. Smiley

Much is exactly the same, especially many people think that trading can make a lot of money very quickly like gambling. That's why they find a way to get rich by trading futures. Futures trading and gambling are just the same and both have the chance of a trader and a gambler going bankrupt. People often think that they are very perfect and they think that they can profit from gambling or futures trading, so they focus deeply on futures trading. And in this way, a trader ends up losing everything just like gambling.

People who experienced consistent wins and profits will likely feel more confident that they can make more money easily, either through trading or gambling. Eventually addiction develops because of that, and worsen when they start to chase their losses after enduring bigger losses. Because for them, they should not be losing but should make more money because too much confidence has led them to act and behave wrongly.

Overconfidence and being overly aggressive are definitely harmful. Being as aggressive as possible within your control is the best decision. When a person becomes overly aggressive, they start going beyond their financial capacity and then they get involved in gambling.

Trading and gambling are completely different, trading is taking decisions based on correct interpretation, analysis etc. But a person who does not analyze anything and only trades based on whether the market will go up or down is definitely a gambler. Such a person always faces losses and becomes addicted very quickly. But a person who learns trading, trades and profits from trading will not become addicted easily.

I understand your point and agree with you because trading can also become gambling if a person looses all his common sense and forgets his risk management and just one thing is present on his mind that how he will recover his loss and with this mindset he takes more bigger risks without any proper strategy and opens his trade again and again thats the point where trading shift from business to gambling or something like frustration. The happiness of win and after the loss to recover it takes over completely a person. And a person without thinking risks all his saving and lose every thing just like gambling so it is correct to say that trading can become addiction like gambling So we should set some limits for ourselves from the start keep selfcontrol and trade in discipline.

If I don't agree, what's it for? Kidding aside. But, I do agree that trading is also addictive and can make a trader lose his sanity over it. Because if we're about to compare it with gambling, it also affects us emotions and mentality and so it could make us reckless and do bad decisions after all. We think that we're still doing the right thing even if it's no longer. An addicted gambler can deny that he's not addicted and that's the same with traders who are no longer aligned with their firsthand plans of how they're going to execute their trades. Once they have been driven by revenge as what's known as revenge trading and that's to chase and recover their losses, that trader is showing the signs.

Addiction can happen to you basically on anything, it must not necessary be a good or head thong but just as far you do that thing multiple times, you're prone to addition and that's also why too much of everything is bad. As little as drinking of water is, you can be addicted to that and addiction isn't a positive habit to have  irrespective of what you're getting addicted to. It can start as a harmless habit that you're developing then it turns harmful before you realize so it's always best to tackle adduction from the moment you begin to notice a pattern before it's too late. Trading and gambling have numerous similarities so obviously there's always going to be the risk of an addiction in both activity. Trading deals with money and chasing after money is one of the top reasons why people become addicted. Trading addiction is just as worst as gambling addiction is.

I don’t agree personally. All the traders aren’t gambling during the trade. But if you are a gambler and start trading, then you might consider trading as a gamble. Then you might panic while losing funds and try to recover faster, like by gambling, which would lead to more losses on the trading.

For the trading, patience is mandatory to make money from that. Become addicted like gambling; do whatever you want without a proper strategy, and then it would be hard to make money from the trading. You need a discipline during trading, not addiction. Your discipline and strategy would make you a gainer.
