What are your advice to newbie traders?

There is only one advise from my side. Don't indulge in short term, specially intra day trading. Focus on long term investing. It is a shift from a gambling mind seeking quick profits with greater risk to a mature and calm long term investor who believe in the asset he is holding.

Every quarter or so my friends and I go through our PnL and determine our win rate, winning strategies and where we can improve as well as pass our trading journals to learn and share.

I can not agree more than what you have given, but I know some people that are posting on this trading discussion that lost money to trading may still continue to trade next year because day trading is very addictive. Who even know if some of them really need rehab just like those that are gambling. Trading is very dangerous but some people will not understand until they lose money to it.

The newbies upon doing first trades, they're likely to lose and that's to be expected and when that happens, don't look at those losses. Let it be stuck there and don't chase it anymore, move on your next trade and take note of the lesson that you can apply to avoid getting into more losses. It's no use to do a lot of trades and then most of it are just bound to lose. It's better to have quality trades than to have a lot of it, quality over quantity.

What lessons did you learn from trading that you do not want to make next year? What are your advice to newbie traders?

My lesson: It's better to miss a trade  than force it and end up losing. When the direction is not clear enough for you to comprehend, just don't force a trade. Better to patiently wait weeks for a good set up, than taking a loss because of urgency to make profit.

My advice to beginners: The number of hours spent on screen learning structure of the market and back testing, could help you become good. I took a big lose some months ago, made a decision that I was not going to trade again that month or even look at the chart for the whole of that month but few days later after my mind was calm, I still continued looking at my favorite pair, following the market structure and I learned something new that has positively influenced my trading journey.

Honestly my new years resolution this year was to give new things a trial, I have tried my hands in many things this year and give some priorities over others and there have been winning and lessons.
Trading was something I gave priority this year, so I traded for sometime at the beginning of the year but my experience made me give up that resolution, honestly before joining I looked at others experience and lessons and still wasn't a good trade experience. I have lost money from trading this year and I will not be taking any trades in the last two months of this year so there is no need to change my vote.

I have invested for the long term and also opened short/long positions occasionally but the results went against me. So if I have to give advice to anyone then I would say stay away from the gamble called futures trading. And trade with what you can afford to lose and best of all focus on long term hodl.

I have a very bad PNL this year so far. in fact I have already stopped after the first half, just to try to relax. I find trading quite stressful and I realized that if I would still lose, I would just rather use that money for gambling, since at least I'm having fun while doing it even if in the end I will still lose money.

That's actually a cycle; if you don't have a rule, it would repeat, but the problem is yourself. How can you fight your eagerness to chase again? It's likely a dopamine in the casino that can't be easily stopped because it's a human nature. That also needs to be practiced, but in my experience that's always come the good thing is you know your limit and always realize not to do that again. That's why I think it needs years of experience to totally remove that behavior. At least in my case I already reduced that issue because I know what could be the result. Even if I got a higher win rate, I should need to limit myself because it's part of risk management.

After some losses in 2025, I'm very glad that I'm already in profit this year; it just started during the last 2 quarters of this year. 2 more months before the year ends, I am already happy with my PnL right now, so I will just maintain it and enjoy my profits.
I also realized that most of my winning profits, are coming from Bitcoin/USD pair, lol.

One of the best pairs for me has also been the BTC/USDT pair it is usually my favorite pair because it’s the pair I first analyze because I usually use it as part of my confluence for other altcoin pairs because of bitcoin dominance. This year hasn’t been bad in trading but I have also not traded much this year compare to last year.

I haven’t seen any trader even drop their PnL images or are people not aware that they can generate such on most of all this exchanges.

To be honest, I've made more with holding than trading.

Made some trades that only led me to losses but what's good is that I've got a back up in holding and the loss I've made in trading was recovered through the paper gains that I've made with my btc holding.

But I don't want to believe that all of it are genuine because it can easily be faked and edited.

Did you make money from trading this year?

For 2026, I personally do not focus on margin trading methods, Futures and those who use Stop-Loss methods and so on, trading in the crypto market this year is more focused on long-term Slot methods.

To not lose my trading knowledge and stay focused I only trade with small amounts of money, of course the profits are also small, however I am still happy and satisfied with the results of my trading efforts, even though the results are small.

I think trading this year can be said to be a little difficult, with various significant challenges, this cannot be separated from several factors that commonly occur in the crypto market, such as quite sharp selling pressure on several crypto assets that want to be traded, such asBitcoin and Ethereum.

I learnt so much this year and my greatest profit came from not losing much profits at all because I accumulated more than trading and this for me is a win on its own in this year instead of chasing candlestick and listening to the noise in the market.

So my advice to newbies is to try to protect capital more than trying to trade for quick profit all the time without a clear strategy.
It's way better to become a master of one solid strategy than to attempt so many strategies at once and become a victim of the market movement.
Lastly, ignoring the noise may not be easy, but with discipline, it's easier to ignore the noise while trading if at all with a calm mindset.

In addition, capital management involves knowing and learning how to properly secure our asset against hacks and scammers and any sort of attacks that may come as a result of not being mindful of our business.

Focusing more on the higher time frame because they give the exact direction of the market trend, while short term opportunities in the opposite trend of the market doesn’t always goes well unless you’re lucky. Short term opportunities found in lower timeframes should be avoided when they go against the trend on the higher time frame. You can be a day trader and take your trades on lower/mid time frames and still be profitable.

Newbies should focus more on getting a strategy, not every strategy is worth learning because it only gets you more confused and never get and edge to use to trade the market. Knowing all doesn’t make you perfect in any, it only confuses and makes you even more picky in all which is not a quality of a good trader.

Is short term trading profitable for you? Almost all the short term traders that I know are not making money from trading. They can tell me they have been making money daily, but later they will tell me that they are already losing. This makes me think that anyone trading short term is having higher probability of losing money after being deceived by some little profits.

The current PNL is poor, and I still have three months left to improve. A valuable lesson I learned this year is not to be overconfident in my knowledge and not to be overly ambitious. My trading activity has decreased drastically, and the short term always makes me lose money. I will spend these three months fully studying.
