I just came onto a sudden realization
In Nigeria the average human expectancy according to 2024 ‘world bank open data’ is that the average Nigeria will live for 60years.
And what is still baffling me till now is out of this 60 years, a person that sleeps approximately 8hours every single day will have spent 20 years of their life sleeping and 40 years awake.
Here’s the breakdown: 60 x (8 ÷ 24) = 20
* Every day: 8 hours sleeping, 16 hours awake. * Every year: Approximately 4 months sleeping and 8 months awake. * Over 60 years: 20 years spent sleeping and 40 years spent awake.
This is 1/3 of his life that was spent doing nothing, this is a little bit fear inducing because some people still do not spend their waking time being productive or living their best life.
What then is the real general and economic value of time? I believe we are not being well compensated for the efforts we put into our waking time in general.
If you knew you have 40 years of waking life out of a 60, would you still spend time the same? Would you still settle for what you’re being paid in your jobs and businesses? Will things be different knowing your conscious time is truly finite or shorter than you thought.
