Democratic gains reach deep into Trump strongholds
WASHINGTON, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Democrats captured majorities in both the Senate and House on Tuesday, scoring sweeping victories that reached deep into Republican strongholds as tens of millions of voters delivered a scathing rebuke to President Donald Trump.
The size and breadth of the Democratic wave were still coming into focus, but the party prevailed in states long thought to ‌be out of reach, including conservative bastions like South Carolina, Texas and Iowa.

It means the election was a total repudiation of trump.  I feel the surprise was the election going from a blue wave to a blue tsunami as no one was expecting these seismic results with the 2 biggest stunners being 1) the dems flipping a senate seat in SC- last time the dems had a senate seat in SC was 1988 and 2) abbott getting shellacked in the TX governors race.  It will be interesting to see if the repubs are going to get on board and do what's best for the country or play stonewall politics once again.
