Time was passing well and in meanwhile, Polkadot has lost market cap quite much going down to 20sh positions on CoinMarketCap.
It has lost quite a lot places on CoinMarketCap and also lost much of it's initial fame when Polkadot came out from Gavin Wood was faded.

I had a bad experience trading DOT, and it was my fault for trading it when it was hyped and hard to sell. I think it was more than 5 years ago already. So I think DOT being in 20th place after all this time is still a good coin to have. It's unlike shitcoins that come and go when pumped and dumped.

It's better than other altcoins that come out. It depends on why you are investing in it in the first place.  It's not a hotcoin anymore.

And to bad you got carried out by hype, but can't blame you for that initial reaction. Since we can't deny that Polkadot is so hyped before. Many look at it as one of promising coin exist in the market.

Now it seems that there's no much discussion about it, then many people who trades it before shift their focus and try other alts in the market.

Didn't lost something on Polkadot, but I think they are not ideal choice to deal with at the moment.

The coin is like a shit coin as it fall below the price it fell below in the last cycle. I mean it got to another lowest price this year since it got to all-time high and lowest price few years ago.

Just use small amount of money to invest on the coin. An amount of money that you can afford to lose.

Who knows if it is the POS that affected the coin this much.

It's not.



TVL dropped to the 66m as well as the daily users. It's also generating only 4k USD as its daily revenue, which makes no sense compared to its 1.6B FDV at this moment. This coin is just overvalued coin with only their supporters are the only their users.

It's also not among the top L1 at this moment. It's far away to be compared with Solana or Ethereum.

Polkadot is also still having quite fast emission while it's less demand to buy it. It will be going even lower, and it's among the coin that potentially die in the future.

Just be realistic they're no longer attractive chain. They also have fewer dapps due to their complexity of their blockchain.

I think part of the fade is structural. In the early days the parachain slot auctions made people lock up huge amounts of DOT in crowdloans, so the hype had real supply being taken off the market. When they moved to coretime sales that lock-up demand basically went away, and the staking rewards keep coming on top, so there is steady sell pressure with nothing forcing people to hold. That is a different thing from the tech being bad, since the design is still some of the most thought-out stuff around. But a good design with few users doesn't move a price. I'd only get interested again if I saw coretime actually being bought by real projects, because until then the price is mostly driven by what the rest of the market does.

In terms of market attention, hype and demand, I wouldn't classify DOT as a hot altcoin, others have already wrote the reason why. The hype that surrounds a hot altcoin is not usually hidden and I expect a hot altcoin to not be in the bottom of the coin ranking list. In my opinion, I feel that if the team do a tokenomics reform, then the coin might feel revived but right now, it doesn't really feel like a good decision for me to want to invest in the coin, and perhaps I don't like altcoin again.

Not a hot coin for me, and not a good choice as far as my concern. But we're in a bear market and this is going to be a tough for coins like this.

We'll see if it's going to survive this time and if it did, the ranking that it's got from the market might be lifted somehow.

Right now, speaking if it's a good or a bad one. No one can say exactly what you want to hear and we can't say if it will be a good one for next years to come.

If you are new to crypto, then you have to know that in most cases of the altcoins, it's the hype that drives the price up, and once it fades, the price of the coin will be in an endless free fall with no hope of having it revived or having a new all-time high in the future.
People moved on from DOT. The likes of Solana definitely overshadowed it, and I don't think there will be renewed hype. There will probably just be a new player in the next cycle.

total value locked diminished and adoption is low, it's a dying chain and nobody really use it anymore. The price performance isn't just price, it reflects the value of the blockchain. If the price is good the blockchain is thriving but it's not and it's dying. Polkadot is basically a small Cardano, nobody use them, but they got big market cap and volume which is still mystery to this day. It ain't a hot coin anymore though for my preference but i'd be lying if I say they don't got demand in the market, both of them got hundred milions daily volume.

Nope. Price is just below $1 and currently some 98% below its ATH of ~$55 from 5 years ago. Nothing's in the 20s, its #43-56 these days, depending on the site.

Unfortunately they got inflation too high for years there is no coming back from current price. 10% inflation rate is worse than fiat and old holders are getting diluted and even their current yearly issuance is still pretty high compared to Ethereum which is only around 0.5% yearly inflation.

Is it still a hot coin? No, the chart shows that DOT barely move in 2024-2025 bullrun and severely underperforming compared to other coins and far worse compared to its 2021's bull.

Nah, it has lost his luster in the market. And just like what we have seen in previous cycle, like ADA who have a lot of hype before in the prior bull run. But in the last cycle that we have it didn't move that much.

So it's a indication that either investors are looking for other project to invest or there are competitions amongst themselves. Same thing that happened to DOT, no longer has the support of investors as they might have decided to look for better alternatives or at least to look for new project to pump and make a lot of profits and then rinse and repeat.

Polkadot’s performance hasn’t been great, where it’s still hovering near its all-time low of $0.72. Around the beginning of October this altcoin may have offered some relief to its holders as it began to rise back above $1. However by the end of October Polkadot’s price fell again. And I think Polkadot’s price decline followed Bitcoin’s price movement which was also falling. On the other hand I personally believe that Polkadot still has the potential to rise during the upcoming bull run though it’s still unclear when that will happen. In terms of market cap Polkadot is still holding up quite well compared to other altcoins that were once in the top 50 but have since fallen significantly in rank like one example being Kaspa which once ranked in the top 50 by market cap. But now Kaspa has fallen out of that top tier and is currently ranked 66th, where it shows that Polkadot still looks good when compared to comparable altcoins. I think the Polkadot community plays a role in helping this altcoin maintain a relatively strong market cap. However I haven’t seen any major initiatives from the community that could effectively drive up the price of Dot. Perhaps you can bet on it by hoping for positive market sentiment that will strengthen its price. But you should invest only a relatively small amount so you won’t lose too much if the price doesn’t meet your expectations.

I’m a bit confused. What could one possibly expect from an altcoin that has dropped by around -98.29%? Just imagine: its current price is only $0.9350, less than a dollar.

We surely remember the last cycle, when DOT rose so rapidly. It was even hyped as a "top coin killer." But now, it’s crashing. It’s practically destroying itself. The bottom line is, personally, I wouldn’t include DOT in my portfolio again. The risks are just too high. This coin is dying. There is no big hope for this.

Others can still expect DOT to the price of $2 then the profit can be 100% if you buy at the price now, it's just that we don't know how strong this token is? So it is too risky to invest in this kind of altcoins.

In my opinion, you shouldn't buy this altcoin, and I wouldn't advise anyone else to buy it either. It’s well known that more than 90% of altcoins tend to decline in value against Bitcoin looking at the BTC/altcoin pair though they usually rise when the price of Bitcoin goes up significantly or even slightly. Conversely, when the price of Bitcoin drops sharply, they tend to fall just as hard. However, the situation with this particular altcoin is much more concerning: even when the price of Bitcoin surges, this altcoin doesn't move at all. It’s as if it has turned into a stablecoin. Just look at the chart:



From November 2021 to November 6, 2026, the price of this altcoin has been falling; however, if you look at the Bitcoin chart using the same timeframe for each candle, you’ll see that if you had bought Bitcoin in November 2021, you would have made significant profits by now. Therefore, it’s not worth wasting time or money on this altcoin. It’s effectively a dead altcoin honestly, I don’t even know why it’s still ranked 46th on CoinMarketCap. I highly doubt it will manage to hold that position three months from now, and within a year, it could well disappear from the top 100.

Won't be getting polkadot, and I certainly don't think it has much of a unique value proposition that other blockchains don't already have.
